[Bug 1546829] Re: Nautilus Memory Leak (14.04 Trusty Tahr)

2016-02-17 Thread Jaden Peterson
** Description changed:

Recently, I have discovered a memory leak with Nautilus. Lately,
whenever the process is running (even for desktop handling, not just the
file manager), it will slowly grow and become a memory-eatin-machine.
Today, I left my computer locked and on, and when I got home it was
taking 3.4GB!!! I have a feeling this has to do with the desktop
handler, since it happens without a nautilus window open. I do use
Variety, a memory-hungry wallpaper slide-show, but it only takes
  60-100MB.
+
+ Description: Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS
+ Release: 14.04
+
+ Installed: 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu9.11

[Bug 1546807] Re: package fonts-noto-cjk (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: cannot copy extracted data for './usr/share/fonts/opentype/noto/NotoSansCJK.ttc' to '/usr/share/fonts/opentype/noto/

2016-02-17 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1546714] [NEW] System not booting when /home is on separate LUKS-encrypted partition

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

>49.2 kB unusable
Encrypted volume (dasda3_crypt) - 4.0 GB Linux device-mapper (crypt)
> #1 4.0 GBf ext4/home

Using this partition setup, the system is not able to complete the boot
process. The systems stops booting with these messages:

This does also happen, when you put LUKS on top of an LVM setup or if you even
place the /home partition on a separate DASD. The problem is the same.

Is not accurate, you are still going to have encryption. It just might

[Bug 1546634] [NEW] Is "Restart & Install" appropriate for Ubuntu

2016-02-17 Thread Robert Ancell
Public bug reported:

On the updates tab there is a button "Restart & Install" button which
performs an offline update of the system (i.e. restarts and installs
updates outside of a session). Is this an appropriate option for Ubuntu?
Does it work? Should there be an "Update All" button instead that
updates everything inside the session? Or do we just leave this to
update-manager and just allow users to update individual apps from GNOME
Software?

The existing Ubuntu Software Center has the ability to sideload .debs

[Bug 1481240] Re: Can't get correct location information before use other GPS apps

2016-02-17 Thread Krzysztof Tataradziński
Regarding GPS fix I think that it's hardware problem (GPS used in Cortex),
because I look at several android phones and here're my results:
- all phones tested with Snapdragon (Nexus 4, LG L fino, one HTC) get first fix
below 10 seconds;
- all phones tested with Cortex (Lenovo A820, MX4, Kazam) getting first fix
even till 2 minutes.
That makes all phones in market with Ubuntu (BQ, Meizu) are useless regarding
in example using NearBy scope (without previous getting GPS fix in some navi
app). Maybe solution to get phone more useful with features requiring GPS
position is to release some phone with Snapdragon part (or GPS tested before
and looked average time of first GPS fix)?
Does Canonical team tested that in oncoming MX5 Pro?

[Bug 1546347] Re: Add removed functionality of split view

2016-02-17 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1546353] Re: Nautilus crashes after running for some time.

2016-02-17 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 1506704] Re: Thin font, nautilus doesn't integrate with Unity.

2016-02-17 Thread Wiktor: Nizio
Recently I had a bad USB hub. The computer had a problem with going past
the POST phase and apparently Ubuntu had a problem loading as well.
After it did load, the problem in question occurred EACH TIME, and
furthermore, mouse cursor would momentarily be replaced with an ugly
cross. Apparently the problem may be occurring when Ubuntu cannot
properly load due to other hardware failures. Three days after I
replaced the USB hub I haven't noticed the problem.

[Bug 1546415] [NEW] [wishlist] Add features from 'pdffonts'

2016-02-17 Thread Arlo James Barnes
Public bug reported:

'pdffonts' (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poppler_(software)#poppler-
utils) is a command-line utility that reports 0) what fonts are embedded
or referenced in a PDF file, and for each font:

1) If a subset is used, and if so, what subset (using CID-keying for reference)
2) The font type (OTF, 1C, et cetera)
3) The character encoding (UTF8, WinAnsi, custom, et cetera)
4) Whether the font is embedded or referenced
5) Whether the characters in the font are Unicode-mappable
and
6) The unique two-part numerical Object ID for each font.

<>

The downsides of using 'pdffonts' versus the requested featureset in Evince:
1) Is a separate application from that used to view PDFs.
2) Does not sort the objects by font family.
3) Does not and cannot offer a preview of or icon for each fontface.
4) Is neither sortable nor searchable.
5) Once the ASCII 'table' is generated, is static and cannot be dynamically
resized (and looks rather ugly or at least plain).
6) Meaning of the CID key cannot be interactively unpacked as to the specifics
7) Font cannot be extracted (perhaps you would consider this an anti-piracy
"feature"?), or removed and replaced with a referenced font (this would
probably not be appropriate for either application since they are geared
towards reading, not editing, PDF files).
8) It is not possible to see what text uses which font object. In fact,
sometimes a PDF embeds a font but never uses it, and this would be very useful
to see if the user planned to later optimize the PDF.

This functionality is an obvious addition to the current Evince feature
set, as it is often the case the user wonders "Oh, what font could that
be?" and should be a (relatively, I know these things tend to become a
little harder than expected) straightforward and easy feature to
implement since in one sense the functionality is already explicated in
the code of 'pdffonts'.

Thank you for reading.
