[Bug 1549596] Re: Ignores "NotShowIn" and "OnlyShowIn" from .desktop files

2016-02-28 Thread Matthias Klumpp
AppStream doesn't contain "one-desktop-only" semantics. It contains
which means that the given component is
essential or intended for the desktop environment's operation. Software
centers can decide to show these components or ignore them and hide them
(in the former case, the removal option should be disabled).

I am very reluctant to introduce a way to hide apps on a specific
desktop to AppStream, since I want all components to be consistently
available and have one default (so no "if you have desktop A you get X,
if you have desktop B you magically get Y installed).

That said, one of those entries, or probably both, should get an "X
-AppStream-Ignore=true" field in their .desktop files, and maybe, if
they have a metainfo file, this particular component is also a candidate
for a Unity tag...

Cheers,
Matthias

[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device

2016-02-28 Thread Mlt
It would be more productive to give some more details here.

I had this problem on 15.10 and now 16.04, and other subsystems are
working okay as I am able to connect via ADB. When I try to connect I
get the error message: "No Storages found. Maybe you need to unlock your
device?" The device is unlocked.

The command $ mtp-detect | grep idVendor

Gives:

Device 0 (VID=18d1 and PID=4ee2) is a Google Inc (for LG Electronics/Samsung)
Nexus 4/5/7/10 (MTP+ADB).
ignoring libusb_claim_interface() = -6PTP_ERROR_IO: failed to open session,
trying again after resetting USB interface
LIBMTP libusb: Attempt to reset device
Error 1: Get Storage information failed.

  idVendor: 18d1

None of the suggested workarounds do.

[Bug 1511457] Re: using delete key on hidden trash folder, makes nautilus crash

2016-02-28 Thread Florian Schäfer
I also experience this bug in Ubuntu 15.10 when trashing the trash-
directory (either .Trash-1000 on external drives or
~/.local/share/Trash). The backtrace is attached.

However nautilus doesn't always crash, initially I thought it only
happens when I select some files and additionally the trash-directory
and then hit the Delete-key, but it also happens when I only try to
trash the Trash-directory. I could not determine exactly what triggers
the crash, sometimes nautilus behaves correctly by showing me the dialog
that the directory can't be trashed and if I want to delete it
immediately instead. But then sometimes this crash happens, it seems
pretty random to me.

This was tested in a fresh installation of Ubuntu 15.10 with all updates
from the default package repositories up-to-date.

[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device

2016-02-28 Thread Mlt
I have the same issue with a nexus 5, and with marshmallow there seems
to be no other option than MTP.

What does the ubuntu phone use? I hope its not MTP because that would
just be embarrassing...

[Bug 1547428] Re: Fails to update packages in apport-retrace

2016-02-28 Thread Matthias Klumpp
I fixed this in Debian - you will want to sync `appstream >= 0.9.2-2` and
`limba >= 0.5.6-1` (the latter is only needed to prevent this package from
FTBFSing later with the new AppStream).
Cheers,
Matthias

[Bug 1550939] [NEW] Tab on Index makes evince go crazy

2016-02-28 Thread Shahbaz Youssefi
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

- Open a pdf with Index
- Click on a section in the Index
- Press Tab

Expected behavior:

- I don't know. I accidentally clicked Tab instead of Alt+Tab

Observed behavior:

- Evince very quickly goes through the Index, section after section. I
didn't find a way to stop the madness except closing evince and
reopening the pdf.

I tested this with the Vulkan specifications
(https://www.khronos.org/registry/vulkan/specs/1.0/pdf/vkspec.pdf) and
the C11 standard (http://www.open-
