[Bug 1552512] [NEW] No application data on install, No screenshots after update

2016-03-02 Thread Sean Davis
Public bug reported:

When first installed, the "All" section displays something along the
lines of "No application data available". At this time, going to the
"Installed" section and viewing an application with current AppStream
screenshots (tested with Catfish and Mugshot) shows those screenshots.

I then closed Gnome Software, and reopened the application. Now the
"All" section shows featured applications, editor's picks, etc. I went
back to the "Installed" section and viewed Catfish and Mugshot again.
Now their screenshots are no longer displayed.

[Bug 1552508] [NEW] Software: the Restart & Install button makes no sense

2016-03-02 Thread Doug McMahon
Public bug reported:

Currently can't think of any package that is installed after a restart in
Ubuntu (common to Windows though
If the button can't be made inactive unless updates or some package install??
requires a restart maybe it should be removed.

(- or are there plans for 16.04 where updates are queued & then
installed after or during a restart? Why I can't imagine..

[Bug 1551686] Re: browser leaks old location data to web pages

2016-03-02 Thread Olivier Tilloy
According to the specification¹, when the 'maximumAge' parameter of a
call to getCurrentPosition() is not explicitly set, its value defaults
to 0, which instructs the user agent to request a new position, and not
return a cached one.

However pages that call getCurrentPosition() with a maximumAge parameter
> 0 might get a cached location, without your explicit consent.

That said, I had a look at the code at http://www.where-am-i.net/, and
it appears getCurrentPosition() is called without a maximumAge
parameter, so it should not disclose a cached location, instead it
should always try to get a fresh position.

Assuming this is correctly implemented in chromium (which the browser’s
web engine uses under the hood), the issue could be somewhere else in
the stack (maybe the location provider returning a stale position with a
fresh timestamp?). This is merely a conjecture, more investigation is
needed. I’m tentatively adding an ubuntu-location-service task.

[Bug 1552200] [NEW] Software always get a non-free tag in gnome-software

2016-03-02 Thread Franck
Public bug reported:

Trying gnome-software in 16.04beta, I see that any software is tagged as
'This software comes from a 3rd party and may contain non-free
components'.

This is true for any software, incl . for example gnome-terminal, which
is both supported and free.

License information is a key information in a FOSS system, so gnome-
software would be unusable as is.

[Bug 1552190] [NEW] History button seems to be always unactive

2016-03-02 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Public bug reported:

Using xenial if you go to the detailed page for any package there is an
"history" button but it's desactivated.
It looks like the feature is missing from the apt backend, while it would be
nice to have it also doesn't feel like an important feature so we should maybe
just not display the button for this cycle?

[Bug 1550199] Re: applications cannot update settings

2016-03-02 Thread Nasreddine
After the last update, TexStudio settings works correctly, however nautilus is
still do not save icons position.
Logs files are attached.

** Attachment added: "logs.zip"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1550199/+attachment/4586453/+files/logs.zip

** Description changed:

  I'm using Ubuntu 16.04.

Applications cannot change their settings. For instance when I change an
icons position in the desktop, then I update it; the icon returns to
default position. Also, when I change settings of TeXstudio and then
re-start it I get only last settings, new settings are not applied.

  I've applied : sudo chown [username]:[username] -R ~/.config
  but the problem persists.

This was due to the apt plugin being run before the appstream one. Fixed
by setting a plugin dependency. Guessing they just happened to run in
the correct order before.
