Actually, now I can reproduce it. The above change doesn't seem to have
solved it.

I'm not able to reproduce this but I've modified the signal handler to
check the arguments are in the form we expect before passing them to
g_variant_parse. So please check if you get a g_warning instead of a
crash.

to be honest - I have no idea what USC actually does.

Given that the dependencies aren't there to autoremove I would assume

[Bug 1545308] Re: Backport upstream fix for memleak

2016-03-03 Thread Trent Nelson
Sorry, I spaced this. Description updated. :)

** Description changed:

  https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=758641

Please consider taking this memleak fix from upstream. I've built the
package with it locally and confirmed that it fixes the leak in xfce4
-power-manager, which is mentioned in the upstream report. It also
fixes a similarly sized (hundreds of MB after a few days up time) leak
that I have observed in the NetworkManager service.
+
+ [Impact]
+ Hundreds of MB memory leak in certain dbus applications, including default
services like xfce4-power-manager and NetworkManager with default
configurations.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Clean install of lubuntu 15.10 on a notebook with working battery. Observe
xfce4-power-manager and NetworkManager* in "top" over 48-72hrs of normal use
(web browsing, text editing, shell, etc). Both will be taking on several tens
of MB per day of additional RES.
+
+ *NetworkManager may require buggy wifi to reproduce. rtl8723be in my
+ case.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ I'm no authority on the glib code base, but the upstream patch looks very
safe to me.

Let me know if you need any further details.

I think this is caused when G-S is running in daemon mode. When the
network changes state the updates page widget is no longer exists and
causes this crash. So it probably doesn't happen anymore now we disabled
daemon mode. Will fix upstream anyway.

[Bug 1552902] [NEW] gedit Save As dialog freezes on renaming selected folder

2016-03-03 Thread Charles Belov
Public bug reported:

When I rename a folder that gedit has selected in the Save As dialog,
the Save As dialog freezes.

Steps:

File Manager
1. Go to home folde
2. File > New folder
3. Name the new folder "regressions" (without quotes)

In Launcher
4. Open gedit

In gedit
5. In gedit, type "test"
6. File > Save As
7. Single-click the folder name "regressions"

In File Manager:
8. Single-click "regressions"
9. File > Rename
10. Remove the "s" in "regressions" and press ENTER
11. Click on gedit Save As window

Actual result: Save As window is frozen; folder name still shows as regressions
Expected result: Save As window is interactive; regressions now shows as
regression

gedit version: 3.10.4-0ubuntu 4

perfectly safe to have both running. If anything, this is a bug in
synaptic - it should be able to run without holding the lock the whole

[Bug 1552802] Re: Can have synaptic and gnome software running concurrently

2016-03-03 Thread Matthias Klumpp
If aptd behaves like PackageKit, it will be waiting in the background to get
the lock, and the install the app, so that wouldn't really be a bug.
Having two applications read the APT cache at the same time is perfectly fine.

[Bug 1552802] Re: Can have synaptic and gnome software running concurrently

2016-03-03 Thread flocculant
Opened a virtual machine.

Installed synaptic.

Logged out an in.

Got gnome-software to install the alarm clock applet - then removed it.

Gnome-software is still running at this point.

Opened synaptic - no dpkg lock

Started installing alarm clock in synaptic and gnome-software - trying
to keep start to a minumum (small app)

Hit start in both.

Both appearing to be installing this application

[Bug 1552852] [NEW] shares-admin does not handle spaces in paths correctly

2016-03-03 Thread Daniel U. Thibault
Public bug reported:

If you use shares-admin to share a folder via NFS (Shared Folders:
Shared Folders: Add) and you pick out a path that includes embedded
spaces, the string is included verbatim (that is, without escaping the
spaces) in the configuration (/etc/exports in particular), and thus the
share will utterly fail.

[Bug 1552792] [NEW] gnome software leaves dependencies installed

2016-03-03 Thread flocculant
Public bug reported:

Using gnome software to install an application - removal of that package
leaves behind dependencies

Installing an application with ubuntu software centre only leaves behind
config files (seen in synaptic labelled for complete removal).

After installing and then removing alarm clock with USC -

sudo apt-get autoremove
[sudo] password for wolf:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
0 to upgrade, 0 to newly install, 0 to remove and 1 not to upgrade.

After cleaning up and then reinstalling with gnome software, followed by the
removal

sudo apt-get autoremove

The following packages will be REMOVED

[Bug 1037256] Re: Sorting items by names do not work properly

2016-03-03 Thread Romain Bousson
same issue, ubuntu 14.04, nautilus 3.10.1, fr_FR.UTF-8 for all LC_***.
I tested with LC_COLLATE=C or POSIX : the behaviour is slightly different, but
I can't get a true classic alphanumeric sorting.

Would it be possible to implement a checkbox option on the Nautilus Preferences
menu, in order to select :
- keeping the "intelligent (or not so) nautilus sorting type"
- use a regular alphanumeric sorting.

That would be so great.
I a m not used to the collaborative nautilus developpment, so where can I post
this feature demand ?
Thanks
