[Bug 1551283] Re: ibus/im-config in Ubuntu GNOME
There have been some discussions on IRC (#ubuntu-desktop) which have clarified the confusion wrt unity-control-center and GNOME Flashback. One part of the solution is that u-c-c should not overwrite an already existing XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP value, and I've filed a MP (linked above) to fix that. Thanks Alkis for pointing at the right spot in the u-c-c source! The other part is that the u-c-c task at bug #1554878 needs to be fixed. @Dmitry: The result of this is that we keep the current difference between Unity and GNOME Flashback in this cycle, meaning that im-config does not start IBus or set the input method related environment variables by default on GNOME Flashback. This is to work around the problem with Greek typing which Alkis has reported. I have uploaded language-selector and attached an im-config patch. ** Patch added: "im-config_ibus-on-gnome.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-control-center/+bug/1551283/+attachment/4595498/+files/im-config_ibus-on-gnome.patch ** Tags added: patch ** Changed in: language-selector (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1551283 Title: ibus/im-config in Ubuntu GNOME To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1551283/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1555569] [NEW] Show human-readable names for store apps
Private bug reported: GNOME Software shows the package name from the app (the snap's name you can't change in the store) instead of the human-readable one (the one you can edit in the store). That is, the entry in GNOME Software reads 'ubuntu-calculator-app' instead of 'Calculator (Unity 7)'. The latter is specified as "Package title" in the web UI, not sure which field name it's got in the store API. It seems, though, that snappy does not have the concept of a human- readable name and it's using the "description" field for that. I'm not sure if that's the intention, or if it's expected that any store clients use the "Package title" from the store API instead. snapd gives the following information for ubuntu-calculator-app (in this case, sideloaded): { "description" : "Ubuntu Calculator app", "download_size" : -1, "icon" : "/2.0/icons/ubuntu-calculator-app.sideload/icon", "installed_size" : 581341041, "name" : "ubuntu-calculator-app", "origin" : "sideload", "resource" : "/2.0/snaps/ubuntu-calculator-app.sideload", "status" : "active", "type" : "app", vendor" : "", "version" : "IOBXFFOCRcXL" } >From James Tait: The human-readable package display name, “Package name” in the upload form, maps to the title field in the store API and takes its data from the same field in a Click manifest, but seemingly has no equivalent in a Snap manifest. The closest field in snap.yaml appears to be summary, but I was intending to extract that to tagline and fix bug #1303354 so we can surface that in the store API. The description field in the store API maps to the “Tagline” and “Description” fields in the upload form, and takes its data from the title and description fields in Click manifests, and the description field in Snap manifests. The name field in the store API maps to the unchangeable package name in the store web UI, and takes its data from the same field in both Click and Snap manifests, with the author’s short namespace appended if the extracted package name is unqualified. ** Affects: click-package-index Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: sdoc ** Information type changed from Public to Private ** Also affects: click-package-index Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags added: sdoc -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/169 Title: Show human-readable names for store apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/click-package-index/+bug/169/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1555266] Re: some changelogs are missing from the server used
Thanks Matthias, the current apt plugin loads directly the dpkg/apt db on disk and does the parsing directly reading those files (e.g not apt api is used) so unsure how practical it would be to do such change. In practice reading the url should work in all case if the server was correctly updating... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1555266 Title: some changelogs are missing from the server used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1555266/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1555266] Re: some changelogs are missing from the server used
FWIW, since APT 1.2 we have an automatic facility to download the correct changelog via APT, so there is actually no need to implement something manually again - APT will do the right thing. Not sure how this is implemented in the GS APT plugin, but using APTs pkgAcqChangelog is always the correct way to get changelogs with nwer APT.
