[Bug 1558768] [NEW] gvfsd-trash causing high CPU-load when try to empty trash with thousands of files

Steps to reproduce:
- a folder with thousands of files (here about 15000 files with a overall size 
of 1.5 GB)
- delete files to trash
- right-click at the trash icon
- click empty trash

A dialog "Dateioperationen" shows "vorbereiten" (it's German, I think in
English the dialog has the title "file operations" and shows the text
"prepare").

This happens at this point:
- the dialog remains unchanged
- the process gvfsd-trash consumes up to 75% CPU, see output of top

After 30 minutes of waiting for any reaction I killed the process. The
trash still contains all the files.

on my system I got the same output with the fonts of comment 2.
But I can render it on my windows system, where I have the MS fonts installed!

transaction was cancelled. The next transaction would cause these

I uploaded cheese to get a new .desktop file with X-Appstream-
Ignore=true which should get cheese.desktop out of appstream and leave
us with only org.gnome.Cheese.desktop which has a screenshot.

I think that should work, and if not then a fix in as-glib might be
needed.

Using current xenial, gnome-softwares listed a bunch of updates
including evince, I clicked on the "install" buttons and it upgraded it
correctly, but after upgrade it's still listed in the update with an

Clicking on the refresh button doesn't make it go away either, you need

Using gnome-calendar in xenial, the "manage your calendar" toolbar item
opens a popdown but the selector color is similar to the background
which makes items not easy to read (other softwares  like file-roller
seem to use an orange color there). Unsure if those menus should not

looks somewhat not integrated

The issue with calling yelp with a file path as argument has been fixed
upstream:

The attached patch cherry picks that fix.

I also committed a change to ubuntu-docs which replaces absolute paths
to ubuntu-mono icons with relative paths to icons within the ubuntu-docs
package. That's apparently not a real fix, but a workaround which may
fix Ubuntu Help for 16.04.

@Doug: The latter includes changes of translatable strings, so we'll
need to upload again very soon to update the translation template. Would
appreciate if you could take a look first, though.

@Robert, the appstreamcli command show a screenshot for eog, is that
using a different data set than g-s?

Ccing Laney about the cheese case, those .desktop are supposed to be
identic mostly, do we know what needs changed for the screenshot to show
in the compat one?

Oh, also ubuntu-software-center used to look on our webserver for
screenshot without needing specific info about those, is gnome-software
doing something like that, at least as a fallback try?

Yes, you are right. The two software centres are designed differently.

Also for kstars i see a screenshot on software-center but not in GNOME
software. Also synaptic shows a a screenshot for kstars and cheese.
Please install software center (and synaptic) by default also in the new

Works fine now. So apparently, when you want a couple of commands to be
launched one after the other in the startup list, you can't just write:

sleep 60; 

You have to explicitly call bash -c like this:

Unsure but it looks like that could be due to deja-dup, that 3 .desktops

deja-dup.desktop is what the appstream data refears to but it is
NoDisplay=true which makes gnome-software filter it out

the other entries are the preferences/settings panel but those use X
-Appstream-Ignore

so it seems like none of the .desktop is having matching appstream and
desktop datas

what's the intention for moving to a new gnome-software snapshot between now 
and release?  There was a flurry of upstream work in gnome-software 
specifically related to firmware yesterday.  
I'd hope that there will be at least one more snapshot update to at least pull 
that stuff in.

Some of it is dependent upon moving to the soon to be released fwupd 0.7
(due to some API changes to make the experience better), but I don't
have a concern in doing that shortly after the MIR for fwupd is done and
before firmware support is turned on.

the sementic is a bit different afaik though, we refer to a binary name
and the appstream case to a .desktop. It's not a 1<->1 mapping though
since a binary can have several .desktop ... the best we can probably do
there is to pick the first .desktop containing in the binary, if we have
that info available somehow?

so the procedure for taking a photo will remain that you have to start a
navigation application like google maps, wait for the circle to move and
shrink then switch to the camera and take your photo. This is sub-
optimal - you can't even take a series of photos on a walk without
waking up the GPS with a navigation app for each one.

[Bug 1559442] [NEW] After maximising the terminal window cannot be restored to its original size

On a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04 opening a terminal window and
maximising it works correctly.

Un-maximising the window does not restore it to its original size. The
terminal window then appears full-sized, totally covering the desktop.

This works correctly in Ubuntu 15.10.

Looks like unity/compiz adds their own decorations also for CSD
windows... Metacity does not do that and is should not do that - CSD
windows are supposed to have their own shadows, borders and resize
cursor area. Just because unity does that does not mean that there is
bug in Metacity.

As you already know - Adwaita theme does work. So it is theme problem...
But Ambiance theme can not be fixed... Ok, it can, but it will create
problems for Unity session. And I am quite sure that Adwaita theme is
not only theme that works. Any theme that have popper support for CSD
windows will work.

Are metacity only downgraded application? Is 'metacity --replace' problem 
reproducable in clean install? Dmitry, could this be regression after 
multiarchify library? Could it be build differently that triggers this bug? I 
see also this warning:
Window manager warning: Log level 8: g_main_loop_is_running: assertion 'loop != 
NULL' failed

Screenshot does not help me. I need reproducible steps with how to
trigger this bug. In other bug you wrote that you can reproduce in
virtualbox. I asked for steps that could lead to bug... Also if metacity
crashes for you - then please try to get stacktrace.
