[Bug 1565083] [NEW] 16.04 beta2, cannot override udev network interface name in VM

2016-04-01 Thread Marc Na
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I just cannot seem to override a network interface name on a Ubuntu Server
16.04 beta 2 fresh install.
Reproduce steps were tried on both VirtualBox 4 and VMware Player 7.

(Sadly, despite updating apt, I could not find apport in the
repositories, so please bear with me)

--N.B.: following is not an apport output--
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04
Package: systemd 229-3ubuntu1
Package: udev 229-3ubuntu1
Uname: Linux ubuntu 4.4.0-15-generic #31-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 18 19:08:31 UTC
2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Architecture: amd64
InstallationMedia: ubuntu-16.04-beta2-server-amd64.iso, checksummed (20160323)
ProcEnviron:
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
UpgradeStatus: fresh install
--

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup VM with a network card (VirtualBox: Intel Pro/1000 MT Server; VMware
Player: E1000 or (hand-edited vmx) vmxnet3
2. Install
3. Upgrade
4. Login
5. Run "networkctl" and note interface name
6. Run "/sbin/udevadm test /sys/class/net/ens160" replacing ens160 with the
interface name
ID_PATH=pci-:03:00.0
ID_NET_LINK_FILE=/lib/systemd/network/99-default.link
7. Create an override rule : "sudo vi /etc/systemd/50-eth0.link" -- see
systemd.link(5) -- with these contents:
[Match]
Path=pci-:03:00.0*

[Link]
Name=eth0
MACAddressPolicy=persistent

8. Run again "/sbin/udevadm test /sys/class/net/ens160"
ID_NET_LINK_FILE=/etc/systemd/network/50-eth0.link
9. Run "sudo reboot"
10. Login and run "networkctl"

Expected result:
interface name is now eth0

Actual Result:
No change in interface name.

Other thoughts:
- journalctl does not provide extra info, just that the interface has been
renamed to the persistent name as usual.

- /etc/udev/rules.d/ is empty.

- network-manager package is not installed

- Have also tried adding a blank "NamePolicy=" line just under [Link]

- Have tried with Name=ethfoo to avoid potential conflicts; no dice

- Of course, you can disable the new names by adding net.ifnames=0
kernel boot option to grub; it works (but then you don't assign an name
to a matching device).

[Bug 1562607] Re: problems to use zenity (in my application mkusb) - after update/dist-upgrade

2016-04-01 Thread sudodus
I have updated/upgraded a few times (during 4 days), and the problem
persists, when I use the proprietary nvidia 304 driver (but things work
with the free nouveau driver).

Today I tried nvidia-current --> 304

and also nvidia-current-updates (which was worse, I had to hard reboot,
when trying to start Thunderbird while mkusb (with zenity and webkit)
was doing its job. Not even SysRq + reisub worked.

So I went back to the nouveau driver, where it works to run mkusb with
zenity and webkit.

[Bug 1564209] Re: Doesn't recognise own reviews

2016-04-01 Thread Fabián Ezequiel Gallina
@noodles: A long time ago, RnR started using SSO v2[0]. Prior to that,
through the v1 SSO API, the LP username was *sometimes* available and it
was used when it was. Since SSO v2 API account details doesn't really
provide a possible username, for new reviewers the consumer_key is
what's being used (as it's really the unique identifier for a particular
username). This means that for *new* users (after the change!), the
consumer_key would be the `User.username` (and hence the
`reviewer_username` field value for the newer instances).

Later, at some point, the click reviews needed this inconsistency fixed
and this branch was born[1]. In there we changed the `reviewer_username`
field to always return the consumer_key (regardless of the
`User.username`). My vote, for consistency and simplicity, is to go
ahead and do exactly the same for deb reviews as suggested by @dobey.

[Bug 1565000] [NEW] xchat-gnome doesn't validate ssl hostnames

2016-04-01 Thread Marc Deslauriers
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2015/01/29/23

XChat did not verify that the server hostname matched the domain name in
the subject's Common Name (CN) or subjectAltName field in X.509
certificates. This could allow a man-in-the-middle attacker to spoof an
SSL server if they had a certificate that was valid for any domain name.

Also applied to hexchat and xchat-gnome.

[Bug 1564951] [NEW] systemd-timesyncd: Failed to call clock_adjtime(): Invalid argument

2016-04-01 Thread Simon Déziel
Public bug reported:

After upgrading systemd from 229-3ubuntu1 to 229-3ubuntu2, I noticed
this on one of my VM:

  systemd-timesyncd: Failed to call clock_adjtime(): Invalid argument

systemd-timesyncd says it was able to sync the clock but also report
failures:

# systemctl status systemd-timesyncd

time server 172.24.21.1:123 (ntp.ubuntu.com).

The clock_adjtime error repeats every ~30 seconds after that.

Oddly, I cannot reproduce this on my physical machine, only on this VM.

2016-04-01 Thread Daniel Holbach
 dholbach: Don't think upstream would need my hackish patch at bug
#1563553. I suspect that there is a more 'correct' way to define ENABLE_NLS,
e.g. in debian/rules, but I don't know how. Hence my patch to simply make it
work in 16.04.
 GunnarHj, ok... I wasn't sure if the upstream project had the same
issue with translations
 dholbach: I'm not *100%* sure either. But I doubt it.

exist. (LP: #1560112)
  * Fix assertion crash when processing a (broken) device without a sysfs
path. (Closes: #819290, LP: #1560695)
  * Fix crash when shutdown is issued from a non-tty. (LP: #1553040)
  * networkd: Stay running while any non-loopback interface is up.
(Closes: #819414)
  * udev: Don't kill peer processes if we don't run in a cgroup. This happens
when running under/upgrading from upstart. udevd and everything
else run in the root hierarchy on all controllers then, and the alleged
cleanup of "our" cgroup becomes a system-wide killing spree.
