[Bug 1569064] Re: systemctl wants to configure interfaces it shouldn't (lxdbr0)
Moving to ifupdown. systemd does not configure the network (unless you set them up in networkd, but we don't do that anywhere automatically and there's no evidence that you did, and it's networking.service that hangs). I also don't see much wrong about this, except maybe that interfaces.d/50-cloud-init.cfg and interfaces.d/eth0 both configure eth0. But the latter (created by cloud-init I suppose) is a dead file as /e/n/interfaces only includes *.cfg files, so that shouldn't matter. ** Package changed: systemd (Ubuntu) => ifupdown (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - systemctl wants to configure interfaces it shouldn't (lxdbr0) + ifupdown wants to configure interfaces it shouldn't (lxdbr0) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1569064 Title: ifupdown wants to configure interfaces it shouldn't (lxdbr0) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ifupdown/+bug/1569064/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1280300] Re: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown
mbp, this looks like a 'garbage pit' style bug report; the original complaint from two years ago is filed against gnome-screensaver but the automatically included text reports unity was being used. Comments since then include complaints about xfce and gnome 3 environments too. There's no actionable information in any of this report, and furthermore there's been half-dozen fixes to most of the screenlockers mentioned in this report along the way because for some reason the screenlockers seem to re-introduce the same bugs every cycle. If you're seeing an issue, please just file a new bug. This one has grown useless because it's not specific enough to anything to actually fix. [Bug 1546636] Re: Review "System Applications"
Some notes on this: For 3.18, the system.xml list mostly corresponded to the applications in GNOME core, with the exception of gedit, which was not in core at the time. For 3.20, I added a bunch of applications into core (including gedit); now the system.xml list is outdated. We decided not to update system.xml in order to allow users to remove these applications, with the result that the definition of what's in system.xml is historical and arbitrary. This is not good. Now, for 3.22, we've switched to using tags in appdata and removed system.xml. Not sure if that's actually a good change, as it makes it much harder to edit the list, but it does avoid the problem of having the list hardcoded in gnome-software. Currently we have the same set of arbitrary applications marked with and we need to figure out something better. Nothing has been decided; we're leaning towards allowing removal of pretty much anything short of gnome-control-center as it's quite annoying to have unremovable applications without good reason, but not 100% happy with this as I'm not keen to lose the concept of system applications. It would be great for Ubuntu to join in the upstream discussion: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=760697 ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #760697 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=760697 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1546636 Title: Review "System Applications" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1546636/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1568852] [NEW] missing title bar for some applications
Public bug reported: Some applications are missing the titlebar in gnome-session-flashback with Metacity. Standard GNOME applications are not affected, but some that use Xlib directly, like mupdf or feh, are. Steps to reproduce: - Use mupdf to display any .pdf file, or use feh to display any image file. Expected result: - A window with a title bar appears. Actual result: - A window without title bar, but thicker borders, appears. - This does not always happen; sometimes, the title bars appear just fine. - see attached screenshot Things I tried: - Enabling/disabling org.gnome.metacity.compositing-manager via dconf-editor doesn't make a difference. - In an Xlib-based program I wrote myself, I could get rid of this by doing a dummy call to XSetWMNormalHints() with BaseSize set to the window size I was using anyway and MinSize set to 1x1. metacity: Installed: 1:3.18.3-1ubuntu2 Candidate: 1:3.18.3-1ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1:3.18.3-1ubuntu2 500 500 http://mirror.dreamchip.de/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Description:Ubuntu Xenial Xerus (development branch) Release:16.04 ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "demo of the missing titlebar bug" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568852/+attachment/4632707/+files/metacity_titlebar_bug.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568852 Title: missing title bar for some applications To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/1568852/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1568410] Re: Double-clicking .desktop file makes nautilus show bogus file
Thank you Sebastien for pointing this out. My understanding is that as of now the old version of nautilus is paired with new GNOME desktop, making this bug specific to Ubuntu. There is no problem with native GNOME desktop or the Ubuntu 14.04 so I am not sure what upstream is supposed to work on. I'm afraid that mixing GNOME software is specific to Ubuntu, and the bug is the result of that integration. Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, the upstream bug report follows: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=764891 Thank you for your time an co-operation. And, is there a way to integrate the two bug report systems I wonder so that to make it a sort of "Report to Bugzilla" button for Launchpad bugs? ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #764891 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=764891 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568410 Title: Double-clicking .desktop file makes nautilus show bogus file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1568410/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1565469] Re: GPS Denied without reason
I don't know if this is related (or another bug): I can reproduce 100% on OTA-10 with the app SensorStatus, that the app opens successful the GPS service, issues some ioctls and without getting or waiting for a first fix, it just closes again the GPS, all this within 2 secs: $ tail -f /var/log/syslog | fgrep GPS Apr 8 08:48:48 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [ 668.400623] (2)[1213:mtk_wmtd][WMT-CTRL][I]wmt_ctrl_gps_sync_set:ctrl GPS_SYNC(4) Apr 8 08:48:48 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [ 668.400669] (2)[1213:mtk_wmtd][WMT-FUNC][I]wmt_func_gps_pre_ctrl:ctrl GPS_SYNC_SET(0) ok Apr 8 08:48:48 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [ 668.401061] (1)[1213:mtk_wmtd][WMT-FUNC][I]wmt_func_gps_pre_ctrl:set reg for GPS_SYNC function okay by chip ic_pin_ctrl Apr 8 08:48:48 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [ 668.401191] (1)[1213:mtk_wmtd][WMT-CTRL][I]wmt_ctrl_gps_lna_set:ctrl GPS_LNA(2) Apr 8 08:48:48 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [ 668.403702] (3)[1074:mnld][GPS] [I]GPS_open: WMT turn on GPS OK!
