I'm marking higher-level components accessing service state, too. The
service itself does not alter its own state, and the behavior is random
enough to justify an investigation of values being initialized
correctly.

[Bug 1538111] Re: untraceable serious bug in metacity 3.18

2016-04-12 Thread Cui Wei
Hi, I am happy to report that there is no window missing at the moment,
and compared with the original version, I found out a different
phenomenon after applying this test.patch.

As has been said above, previously when I was using metacity original version,
there is a small possiblity of window missing.

But now, there is no window missing, instead, there is a small
possiblity for the whole desktop to be turned dark slightly and then
recover in very short time, approximately 0.1 to 0.5 second. The focus
state of windows are correct so this new issue isn't a big deal. And
this issue only happenes after adding this patch.

I think this new version would be better than the orignial version,
because users can at least work normally without replacing window
manager when missing windows.

With s390-tools (1.34.0-0ubuntu3) mon_statd daemons are able to start manually,
using binaries for mon_fsstatd and mon_procd.

But there are no services for these binaries available.
In addition also the main service mon_statd is missing also.

Please integrate these services via systemd

[Bug 1567565] Re: Permission error saving a file

2016-04-12 Thread Alex D
** Description changed:

On Ubuntu 15.10, using evince 3.16.1-0ubuntu1, I fill out a PDF form.
When I save the form, I get the message "Error renaming temporary file:
Permission denied", and the file is not saved. I don't have permissions
  trouble in any other apps.

- The problem happens only when I'm using a cryptsetup ext4 filesystem
- that I mount in /mnt, and not for example in my home directory or in
- /tmp. Although I launch evince from the terminal, there are no unusual
- error messages printed there. However, journalctl shows a string of
- error messages (see attached log).

[Bug 1567565] Re: Permission error saving a file

2016-04-12 Thread Alex D
I found the cause of the bug and would like to propose a fix. The
AppArmor profile for Evince contains a specific clause to handle saving
files that looks like this:

  # evince creates a temporary stream file like '.goutputstream-XX' in the
  # directory a file is saved. This allows that behavior.
  owner /**/.goutputstream-* w,

However, write permission is not sufficient to rename a file - the
permission should be write AND read:

  owner /**/.goutputstream-* rw,

Making this change has fixed the problem.

[Bug 1569328] Re: Almost all free software has "nonfree" tag

2016-04-12 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
I reported the issue upstream but this was the reply:

"This is unfortunately a downstream issue, as Ubuntu are patching in the
aptd plugin. This works around some applications not having AppData
files, but Ubuntu are not always shipping the newest version of upstream
software which does ship an AppData file. For some apps the AppData file
is not upstream, which does need fixing in the upstream project."

So this is a downstream issue...

Public bug reported:

On the latest version of GNOME Software on both Ubuntu 16.04 Beta 2 and
Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 Beta 2 with GNOME 3.20 I have found something rather
strange, seemingly almost all of the free software has the "nonfree"

and was installed by default (such as Firefox, the default PDF viewer,

[Bug 1569223] [NEW] Evolution hangs or crashes when deleting an LDAP email address

2016-04-12 Thread Raphael Mankin
Public bug reported:

A contact has changed his email address. I added the new address and
then tried to delete the old one. Evolution hung, several times. On
restarting evolution I found that the new address had been inserted, but
that the old one had not been deleted.

After a while I tried again and this time I got crashes rather than
hangs, but still no deletion.

This is using an LDAP address book.

Running evolution in foreground gives:

raph@w500:~$ evolution

(evolution:18925): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to register client:
