[Bug 1573755] Re: Compose and dead keys stopped working

2016-07-13 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I can reproduce this XIM problem on a system which was upgraded to
16.04, but not on a fresh Ubuntu 16.04. However: If I create and switch
to a new user, the problem is not present. In other words: Some
leftovers from previous version(s) in the home directory of my main user
prevent the XIM input method from working properly.

Resetting the gtk-im-module gsettings key, as mentioned by Piotr,
doesn't help for me. Neither does removing of the whole gsettings
database ~/.config/dconf/user

For the record: On Ubuntu and most flavors, switching to some other
input method can be done from the Language Support GUI. Doing so changes
the ~/.xinputrc file instead of removing it.

** Summary changed:

- Compose and dead keys stopped working
+ Compose and dead keys stopped working with XIM after upgrade to 16.04

[Bug 1602900] [NEW] libzmq3 crashes when 'getifaddrs()' is unavailable

2016-07-13 Thread Adam Seering
Public bug reported:

libzmq3 crashes when used on a computer where the kernel is unable to
provide any information about network-device addresses.

This is uncommon with normal Ubuntu configurations. But is currently
always the case with Ubuntu as run under the new Windows Subsystem for
Linux.

This has already been diagnosed and fixed upstream:
https://github.com/jupyter/notebook/issues/1331

I have backported the fix; an updated package (based on the stock Ubuntu 14.04
package but with the backport as an added patch) is available in this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~aseering/+archive/ubuntu/wsl

This has been reported in a couple other bugtrackers. Even with the fix in a
PPA, there's still some amount of user confusion:
https://github.com/jupyter/notebook/issues/1331
https://github.com/Microsoft/BashOnWindows/issues/185

It would be great if this fix could be pulled into Ubuntu 14.04
directly, so that people stop hitting this bug.

Ok. It works.
Thanks vary much.

Since i have now installed a proposed package update will
that mess with a future update-upgrade of my system?

Also after the installation i deselected the 'proposed' archive
from the Software & update tool.

Yeah, I think you should just hardcode xdg-open and then list only that.
Current implementation seems to be execute whatever is in the config and
that cannot be set in apparmor config.

[Bug 1602662] [NEW] "Open containing folder" does not work with Nemo (Cinnamon desktop)

2016-07-13 Thread Mikko Rantalainen
Public bug reported:

Cinnamon uses "Nemo" /usr/bin/nemo as the file browser and default
apparmor config is too strict and prevents "Open Containing Folder"
feature from working and instead an error message will appear:

Failed to execute child process "nemo" (Permission denied)"

A simple fix would be to add line

  /usr/bin/nemo Cx -> sanitized_helper,   # Cinnamon

below the line

  /usr/bin/thunar Cx -> sanitized_helper,   # XFCE

in file /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.evince

[Bug 1602606] [NEW] Totem Movie error message

2016-07-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Video rendered by Kdenlive - lossless - mpeg-2 - when viewed in Totem
Movie Player displays an error message 'An error occurred the stream is
in the wrong format' but it does work in Microsoft Windows (sad to say).
I'm using Ubuntu 16.04.

** Affects: totem (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
