[Bug 1612493] [NEW] gnome-terminal search backwards misses results

2016-08-11 Thread dmiller309
Public bug reported:

I was tailing a log file, and searching through the output with Ctrl+Shift+F to
check that the desired value "215" (no quotes) was in there. On the line that
starts with
[11-Aug-2016 21:00:30 America/Los_Angeles] confData=
occurrences of 215 are missed when searching backwards. When I uncheck the
"search backwards" box, those occurrences are matched.

[Bug 1611162] Re: 16.04.1 LTS: using "screen lock" requires reboot to use computer

2016-08-11 Thread Promptjock
UPDATE II: more details for the previous UPDATE.

It seems that when I activate screen lock VIA THE KEYBOARD (Ctrl+Alt+L),
I DO NOT get the "go to sleep and reboot" phenomenon to occur. When I
use THE MOUSE to click on the "services" icon (upper-right of screen,
next to the "Date/Time" display), scroll down to the "Lock Ctrl+Alt+L"
line and click on it, the screen lock activates THEN within 10 seconds
the display DIMS, then BLANKS, my display shows "Entering power save
mode - no signal detected", then the "go to sleep and reboot" phenomenon
occurs. NOTE: when I moved the mouse Just As The Screen Started To Dim,
the display returned to normal brightness and the phenomenon did not
occur.

AGAIN: I have DISABLED the "Screen Off after xx minutes" and "Require
password when waking from suspend" function/option in "System Settings,
Brightness & Lock".

Right now, my "workaround" for using Screen Lock is to USE THE KEYBOARD,
not the mouse, to enable the function.

[Bug 1572260] Re: gvfs-smb-browse hogs CPU after only opening nautilus

2016-08-11 Thread Brian Murray
Thanks for uploading the fix for this bug report to -proposed. However,
when reviewing the package in -proposed and the details of this bug
report I noticed that the bug description is missing information
required for the SRU process. You can find full details at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure but essentially
this bug is missing some of the following: a statement of impact, a test
case and details regarding the regression potential. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1589585] Re: Ubuntu Software tab Installed refreshing endlessly every 2 seconds

2016-08-11 Thread Mario Limonciello
I'm going to set both of these to triaged. In order to resolve the
warnings being emitted continually, it will require moving to:

fwupd 0.7.1+
gnome-software 3.21

It won't fix grofaty's underlying issue (stuff falling off the bus
continually) but it will at least prevent that from causing a check for
FW updates over and over.

[Bug 1612380] [NEW] Huge unrealistic amount of hours to go shown after successfully moving file/folder

2016-08-11 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

For instance I was moving a folder today using Nautilus which told me it
would take 5 minutes to move, and it did, the time to completion was
actually very accurate, until it finished, at which point it suddenly
jumped to this even though it had already succeed in moving the folder
in the time it had promised. I see this happen reasonably often. I am
running Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.20.

I have attached a screenshot of what I mean.

[Bug 1612376] [NEW] Deleting files with "Permanently Delete" option makes Nautilus status indicator show huge negative number

2016-08-11 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

I was using the "Permanently Delete" option in Nautilus to delete a
folder which was about 1.7GB in size and the most strange thing happened
during the deletion:

Negative_Amount_Of_Files_Deleted_Per_Second_Nautilus.png

The number kept changing from a huge negative number, to a positive
number half the size, but still unrealistic in terms of size and the
amount of files actually in the folder which was in the 100,000s, not
the 100,000,000s or similar as it often showed. I am running Ubuntu
GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.20. The deletion appeared successful, but I
still thought I should report the odd statistics.

[Bug 1612343] Re: Unable to delete large folders in Trash

2016-08-11 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
** Description changed:

I have found that since the indicator of file operations was replaced
with the notification coming from the right of the top bar rather than a
popup window, that I am unable to delete large folders from Trash.
Placing them in Trash sometimes means that other items (even really
small ones) can't be deleted until the large folders have been moved
from Trash to another location, though on other occasions all, or at
least half, of the other files will be seemingly successfully deleted,
  though not the large folder(s).

For instance I have a folder with many sub-folders, which each have many
sub-sub-folders etc and lots of files... The folder's file size is about
1.7GB. I tried creating a tar of the file which was 1.8GB, I moved that
into Trash and it was deleted within about a second with no trouble at
all so it seems only to be folders.

I looked at the properties for a large folder I placed in Trash by
itself, and even though I had clicked the Empty Trash button many times
now, it was staying at the same size.

I find that the indicator which is meant to be indicating how it's doing
to me is always just stuck at "Preparing", even when it actually deletes
stuff it only ever really shows that so is not very useful.

I am running Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.20, but I believe this was
also present in 3.18, though not to such a bad degree (pressing the
Empty Trash button many times in some cases eventually worked on 3.18,
but on 3.20 I can't seem to do anything to delete the folder without
- first splitting it up). I have only tested this in Nautilus, I have not
- yet tested if it works better in a different file manager, I will
- comment when I have tested it with a different file manager.
+ first splitting it up).
+
+ One thing to note though is that if I am to use the right-click option
+ to permanently delete files and folders (which can be enabled in the
+ Preferences) then it deletes them just fine apart from showing a huge
+ and negative amount of files per seconds, but that is for another bug
+ report.
+
+ I have only tested this in Nautilus, I have not yet tested if it works
+ better in a different file manager, I will comment when I have tested it
+ with a different file manager.

[Bug 1612340] [NEW] systemd user instance doesn't respect PrivateTmp option in unit file

2016-08-11 Thread BG
Public bug reported:

When setting the option PrivateTmp to "yes" in a unit file, I expect
that files created by the service shouldn't be visible to the outside
world.

To reproduce:

$ systemctl --user edit --full privatetmpdir.service
[Unit]
Description=TestService

[Service]
Type=oneshot
ExecStart=/usr/bin/touch /tmp/1234.txt
PrivateTmp=yes

$ ls /tmp/1234.txt
ls: cannot access '/tmp/1234.txt': No such file or directory

$ systemctl --user restart privatetmpdir.service
$ ls /tmp/1234.txt
/tmp/1234.txt

here i expect there to not be a file "/tmp/1234.txt", but there is.

[Bug 1421955] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon lacks a man page

2016-08-11 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Lars, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-keyring into trusty-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
keyring/3.10.1-1ubuntu4.3 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1612295] [NEW] Nautilus should deal with setting Wallpaper with duplicate names more cleanly

2016-08-11 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

Currently in Nautilus if one right-clicks on an image file and clicks
"Set As Wallpaper" it will set that image as the current wallpaper after
moving it to the Wallpapers folder in ~/Pictures. This is all very well,
however if I then set another image as my wallpaper, and then come back
and want to set the one I previously set as my wallpaper, if I right-
click on it and choose the option to set it it will tell me that an
image with the same name already exists in the Wallpapers folder and it
asks me if I want to replace it.

Now this is something I really would not expect of it, I would expect
Nautilus to deal with such a situation more cleanly.

So my suggestion would be, once one selects an image to be the wallpaper
it is moved to the Wallpapers folder but also renamed so that the issue
described above does not occur. Another thing which may be good would be
for it to check if there is currently a file in the Wallpapers folder
which in terms of contents is identical to the one you are trying to
set, then it could just set the one currently in the Wallpapers folder
as the wallpaper.

As the wallpaper files will now probably have strange names (well, each
one could be called something like "wallpaper-1", and the number would
increment each time), it may also be a good thing to not have the
Wallpapers folder in ~/Pictures where it currently is and instead have
it somewhere more internal and hidden away to avoid causing confusion,
and anyway, if all this is implemented then there will be no need for it
to be so visible. But this bit is just a suggestion, the main point of
this report is to have a more clean way of dealing with duplicate files,
or at least settings ones that have the same name as a previously set
file located in Wallpapers.

[Bug 1612296] [NEW] "Add" button is still greyed out after right-clicking and "Select All" when adding files to an archive

2016-08-11 Thread PyGeek03
Public bug reported:

I encountered this bug while trying to add all files in a folder to an archive.
I expect that after selecting "Select All", then the "Add" button would be
usable, but it did not. Here's the step to reproduce this bug:
- On the menu bar, click "Edit". Select "Add Files...". The "Add" button is
greyed out.
- Navigate to the folder containing the files.
- Right-click and select "Select All". The "Add" button remains unchanged.
To enable the "Add" button, I have de-select a random checkbox.
I'm using file-roller version 3.16.5-0ubuntu1.1 on Xubuntu 16.04.1 LTS.

[Bug 1612229] [NEW] "Software" fails to install deb packages downloaded from the internet

2016-08-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Steps:
1. Download a deb archive from a website e.g. google earth
2. Go to Downloads folder and double click the package
3. The "Software" window appears.
4. Click on the install button. The progress bar gets a litte way across and
then disappears.
5. The package is not installed.
6. There is no message displayed about this.

The only way I can install these packages is to run dpkg -i in a
terminal. They all install that way without problems.

Xubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
All deb packages downloaded direct from websites such as Google Earth, Opera
etc.

The software should have installed but didn't.
