[Bug 1608953] Re: Issue with systemd issue when run inside a container

2016-08-17 Thread Martin Pitt
FTR, there is a similar bug 1611973 about postgresql not starting in a
cloud instance, but this is specific to cloud-init, not to LXC. How sure
are you that this is really due to the low FDs of pid 1, as opposed to
that bug? Do you have some useful logs to look at, like a journal
output from that container? (although generators don't log into journal,
they run earlier than journald starts -- on a "real" system their error
messages land in dmesg, not sure if containers are allowed to do that).

** Summary changed:

- Issue with systemd issue when run inside a container
+ PostgreSQL does not start in container

** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1608953] Re: Issue with systemd issue when run inside a container

2016-08-17 Thread Martin Pitt
Thanks for the initial analysis! This is very helpful. I'm marking this
as fixed in yakkety and add a xenial task.

I tried to reproduce this. I created a standard xenial and yakkety
container:

  lxc launch images:ubuntu/xenial/amd64 x1
  lxc launch images:ubuntu/yakkety/amd64 y1

In both of them pid1's low fds look okay:

$ lxc exec x1 -- ls -l /proc/1/fd/{0,1,2}
lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 18 05:10 /proc/1/fd/0 -> /dev/null
lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 18 05:10 /proc/1/fd/1 -> /dev/null
lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 18 05:10 /proc/1/fd/2 -> /dev/null

(same for y1)

PostgreSQL starts fine after installation:

$ lxc exec x1 -- apt install -y postgresql
$ lxc exec x1 -- pg_lsclusters
Ver Cluster Port Status OwnerData directory Log file
9.5 main5432 online postgres /var/lib/postgresql/9.5/main
/var/log/postgresql/postgresql-9.5-main.log

(again, same for y1)

The generator ran:

$ lxc exec x1 -- ls -lR /run/systemd/generator/postgresql.service.wants
/run/systemd/generator/postgresql.service.wants:
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 39 Aug 18 05:13 postgresql@9.5-main.service ->
/lib/systemd/system/postgresql@.service

So I'm afraid I cannot reproduce this for testing the fix. This is a
requirement for SRUs. Can you please describe how this can be
reproduced?

[Bug 1591868] Re: fwupd consuming 100% CPU

2016-08-17 Thread Anders Kaseorg
The infinite loop is not in libyaml (yaml_parser_parse), but rather in
its caller in appstream-glib (as_node_yaml_process_layer), which is
ignoring the error code returned by yaml_parser_parse and blindly going
around the loop again. This patch fixes it.

2016-08-17 Thread skywalk
Sorry. Yes. Evince behaviour is always the same in all PDF documents in my user
session.
In a guest session if i first go down with the keyboard i can go forward and go
down with the arrows of page forward an page down exactly the pages i
previously opened with the keyboard.
I hope you can understand despite my English.

Right, so if they do update the values will that just require a few

[Bug 1581229] Re: "Started" column not displayed for processes when column is enabled in settings

2016-08-17 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Ok, I've uploaded to yakkety with those changes
- rename the patch to be prefixed with git which is sort of a convention for
desktop packages, makes it easier to see what is coming from upstream
- changed the "closes: #" Debian syntax to "lp: #" in the changelog
- line wraps in the changelog to 78 columns

I've also backported 2 extra commits fixed similar issue for other
columns

Thanks again for the work!

** Description changed:

+ * Impact
+ some columns have a default width of 0 pixels which is buggy
+
+ * Test case
+ - go to preference and enable one of the memory/started column
+ you should have list with a decent width
+
+ * Regression potential
+ the change is only one in the default value of a schema, if the UI looks fine
there it's working
+
+ --
+
I have recently noticed that in the gnome-system-monitor if I go into
the settings and tick the box for "Started" in the "Information fields"
section of that the "Processes" tab that the "Started" column is not
added and in fact this information is not seemingly displayed anywhere
except for in the "Properties" window for a process. But it would be
really useful if it did actually appear as a column so that you could
easily view the start times for multiple processes at the same time and
to also sort them in terms of that. I am running Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 with
GNOME 3.18 but I have also experienced the behaviour on Ubuntu GNOME
16.04 with GNOME 3.20, in fact when running it on that system through

[Bug 1572260] Re: gvfs-smb-browse hogs CPU after only opening nautilus

2016-08-17 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello AndreK, or anyone else affected,

Accepted samba into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/2:4.3.9+dfsg-
0ubuntu0.16.04.3 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1613124] Re: Strange grey border appeared on top and right edges of screen when using Numix GTK+ theme

2016-08-17 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I removed the nautilus (Ubuntu) task since technically this does not
appear to affect the version of Nautilus in the archives. The Ubuntu
Desktop team has enough bugs to deal with that eliminating PPA-only
issues is a help to them.

The GNOME 3 Staging PPA for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS should have basically the
same nautilus as Ubuntu 16.10 "yakkety". The gtk+3.0 package in the PPA
is a little newer because the GTK update in yakkety got stuck in the
-proposed queue.

[Bug 1614050] Re: Window depth order messed up

2016-08-17 Thread dronus
Version is Metacity 3.18.5.

However, I can't reproduce the bug, which occured about 36 hours ago.
The apt logs do not show any update for Metacity since. All effects
mentioned are gone, Metacity behaves as of it's Ubuntu 14.04 pendant
some days ago: Desktop icons are on the desktop, Kupfer opens in front
of all windows.

This matches the behaviour of the other bug linked, which is also rarely
triggered.

Maybe it was triggered by running nemo late (nemo wasn't started with
the session as usual due to unknown reason).

I will use Metacity for daily routine now, we'll see if it happens
again.

If that happens with more apps then please post apps that is affected. Does
it happens always?

That is because in Ubuntu nautilus is responsible for background. What you
see is just login screen image used as background in Metacity. In older
Metacity releases you would see just gray screen...

You can enable background in gnome-flashback module:
gsettings set org.gnome.gnome-flashback desktop-background true

But still it might not work good enough. :(

Does it include also panels? Or only "normal" windows?

[Bug 1538111] Re: untraceable serious bug in metacity 3.18

2016-08-17 Thread dronus
This may be related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/1614050 , which
is about wrong window depth ordering. The original bug described (all
windows closed) already turned out as "all windows hidden" here. It
seems the desktop (featuring a background image) may pop in front of all
other windows.

The bug linked here describes an almost similiar situation, where the
desktop icons appear in front of all windows, this has likely the same
reason except the desktop background itself is transparent in this case.

[Bug 1614050] Re: Window depth order messed up

2016-08-17 Thread dronus
Maybe this relates to the bug first described by #1538111. It seems
unrelated (all windows closing sometimes) but someone found out that the
windows are still open, yet hidden behind the dekstop background window.

So this matches almost the situation when the dekstop icons appear in
front. I just don't encounter the hidden windows because I do not use a
background image I guess (just set a solid color).

[Bug 1614050] [NEW] Window depth order messed up

2016-08-17 Thread dronus
Public bug reported:

Using the gome-flashback session with metacity is totally messed up
since I updated from Ubuntu 14.04.3 to 16.04.1.

All the effects mentioned here do not appear when using compiz, so I
guess Metacity is broken.

-Windows that should open in front (like Kupfer) appear behind the
windows already open.

-Before nemo is run, the Ubuntu default desktop background image appear,
it can't be changed by settings. I just guess this is due wrong ordering
of the true background and some window used by Gnome for showing the
selected background.

-If nemo is run to take over the desktop, the destkop icons appear in
front of all windows.

I guess all those effects originate from a similiar reason. None of these
problems where appearant at Ubuntu 14.04.

This is a total show stopper for using metacity on 16.04 as everyday
applications like nemo and Kupfer can't be used.

[Bug 1613124] Re: Strange grey border appeared on top and right edges of screen

2016-08-17 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
I have just tested on my host 16.04 system and it appears as though the
issue goes away when I switch from back from Numix to Adwaita in terms
of my GTK+ theme. However when I switch back to Numix within a few
seconds the issue comes back, so it seems only to be present when Numix
is set.

I am unable to reproduce it in the 16.10 VM, though perhaps this is an
issue specific to the gnome3-staging PPA?

** Description changed:

I don't know how long it's been there for as it's hard to notice, but I
noticed it a few days ago, there seems to be a grey border on the top
and right edges of my screen in the same kind of colour as the
login/locked screen for GNOME. As can be seen in the attached screenshot

[Bug 1551623] Re: package gconf2 3.2.6-3ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed

2016-08-17 Thread Maketsi
I had this same problem, and managed to pass through it by furiously closing
down those error windows manually during the upgrade process. It kept popping
new ones up at least 50 times, and continued then normally.
When all the packages were upgraded, it finally popped up an error saying that
some steps were not done and "the system may be in unstable state", without
giving any kind of guidance on what to do next.

Manual 'apt-get upgrade' or 'apt-get dist-upgrade' didn't give any
errors or packages to upgrade, so I just rebooted. System seems to work
normally after reboot. I had to manually run 'apt-get autoremove' to get
rid of unused packages.

# apt-get upgrade gconf2
