[Bug 1573755] Re: Compose and dead keys stopped working with XIM after upgrade to 16.04

2016-08-24 Thread Otto Piscus
I am in the same situation as Rudiger, with the compose key working in
Terminal and Dash but not anywhere else I can find. System upgraded to
16.04. All fixes listed above attempted, with no improvement.

Not sure if this helps, but I also had a strange behaviour in terminal
for a while where the operation of the compose key appeared to be
reversed. ie. I would press ' then e and get é without having first
pressed compose. If I first pressed compose then I would get 'e. The
compose key still did nothing in libreoffice, firefox etc. This has now
stopped, but not sure which operation made it change.

[Bug 1588197] Re: Can't type anything in search box

2016-08-24 Thread Kevin Hughes
I was able to resolve the issue with searching a PDF in Evince on Ubuntu
Gnome 16.04 by following these steps.

1. Launch "Software & Updates".
2. Select "Developer Options" tab.
3. Uncheck "Pre-released updates (xenial-proposed)
4. Follow these instructions:
http://www.webupd8.org/2013/11/how-to-downgrade-proposed-repository.html
5. Reboot, searching works in PDFs using Evince.

[Bug 1614233] [NEW] timezone search causing autopilot failures

2016-08-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Our autopilot tests are failing from the datetime panel. The tests use
"London, United Kingdom" as a string to search, which returns no
matches. If you type this manually, the suggestions are correct until
after entering the comma.

A more obvious example of the issue is searching for "San Antonio,
Texas". As you're typing the "San Antonio, Texas" is the top result,
once you enter the ", " all the suggestions are cleared except "San
Antonio, Tecomitl, Mexico City, Mexico". This makes it impossible to
select Texas.

It works fine as long as you pick a result from the selection before the
results change, however it's impossible to select very specific
searches.

[Bug 1614593] Re: gimp freezes at end of cage-base transform

2016-08-24 Thread A. Scheuer
Hello.

That's it: I corrected the bug, even though Gimp does not display the
progress disc anymore during the transformation (but I don't care).

I only applied partially Massimo's patch: the lines to modify in gimp-
gegl-utils.c do not exist, gimpoperationcagetransform files are in
app/gegl/ and not in app/operations/, and gimpoperationshapeburst files
do not exist anymore.

Here are the modifications I made in both gimpoperationcagetransform
files.

[Bug 1616422] Re: [trusty SRU/FFE] Add systemd binary package for snapd

2016-08-24 Thread Martin Pitt
The code for this is in https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/+git
/systemd-trusty (I started with an import of the current trusty
version). A corresponding package is in
https://launchpad.net/~pitti/+archive/ubuntu/systemd .

This still does not match all the requirements from above: while it
removes all *.services that systemd ships by itself, there are a lot of
packages in trusty which ship their own, and these services are
currently started by the deputy systemd (Examples: dbus.service,
haveged.service, systemd-udevd.service) -- some of them fail on port
conflicts, but some others cause a second process to run. This also does
not start systemd right after package installation.

** Description changed:

Rationale: For backporting snapd to 14.04 LTS, we need to provide
systemd's service manager (not just logind and auxiliary services like
logind or timesyncd). upstart will continue to do the actual booting,
and systemd will act as a "deputy init" which by default does not ship
with/start any services by itself. We will only support this on server
(at the first iteration at least), not on desktops.

Regression potential: This is a new binary package in universe, so
existing systems are unaffected (provided that we ensure that the other
binary packages do not change and there are no code changes that affect
processes other than the "deputy pid 1" service manager). So for plain
upgrades the regression potential is very low. However, there is a
medium potential for breakage when actually installing the new systemd
package, as it might interfere with upstart jobs or other running
  processes, cause boot/shutdown hangs, etc.

  Test plan:
- 1. Dist-upgrade a trusty installation to the proposed versions. Ensure this
does not pull in "systemd", and that booting, shutdown, desktop startup,
suspend on lid close, resume, logout, and user switching all still work.

2016-08-24 Thread Rey Leonard Amorato
Public bug reported:

I usually find myself customizing my gnome-terminal to suit my wallpaper
or the overall theme of my desktop.

Unity has adaptive theming/blur which works great. gnome-terminal should
have this feature too.

The disembodied file copy popup does look like bug #1610200 - is there
perhaps a separate issue in this bug, though, regarding how the copy
indicator does not always disappear automatically a few seconds after
the copy completes?

[Bug 1616350] [NEW] No vpn server routes added

2016-08-24 Thread Daniel de la Osa
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
network-manager: 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.3
network-manager-openvpn: 1.1.93-1ubuntu1

When connecting to openvpn through nm (nmcli or gnome), tunnel is established
but only default route is added, this is a wrong behavior in comparison with
openvpn client: default is not added but several routes are.

Here is my ovpn config file:

client

[Bug 1616332] [NEW] gnome-software using hundreds of MB of memory when not in use

2016-08-24 Thread Otus
Public bug reported:

It seems gnome-software is running in the background all the time. Not a
big deal if it was lightweight, but it seems to use hundreds of MB (from
smem output):

PID User Command Swap USS PSS RSS
 2291 jan /usr/bin/gnome-software --g 285436 112576 117982 134036

A total of over 400MB in RAM and swap combined.

After killing and restarting, it takes "only" a bit over 100MB.
