[Bug 1581775] Re: No option to (de)select add ons upon installation

2016-08-30 Thread Matthias Klumpp
I discovered the reason for missing addons in GNOME Software by accident
a few weeks back.

Apply those two patches to appstream-glib in Xenial, and the addons
should appear:

https://github.com/hughsie/appstream-glib/commit/ea8b160c8f05ae018dcf54181204cc5740c2aa1c
https://github.com/hughsie/appstream-glib/commit/2c479053850958575c8de50fbee4433ec05019d3

(this only applies to AddOns which have AppStream metadata though)

[Bug 1591323] [NEW] No low battery notification, shutdown without warning

2016-08-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After upgrading to ubuntu 16.04 system no longer notifies about low
battery and performs shutdown without warning.

And behaviour is not even by org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power.*
settings.

time_policy is false, which should use percentage, but this is not case.

[Bug 1616943] Re: Can't auth against U1 in g-s

2016-08-30 Thread Robert Ancell
Reason for breakage: snapd removed non-root support in:

commit 8f981ca652e9bffe587254c5c55177965eb3fcfd
Author: John R. Lenton
Date: Wed Aug 3 21:35:23 2016 +0100

daemon: stop using group membership as succedaneous of running
things with sudo

This broke gnome-software, which is running as non-root...

The long term solution is to create a new D-Bus service that allows non-
root users to get a Macaroon from snapd and uses Polkit to authorize.
This is being added to snapd-glib.

As a short term solution, we really need to revert this change in
Xenial...

> Dear udisks developers (Martin Pitt, Tom Yan, Simon McVittie, Kylie

No, this is not appropriate. It is ridiculous to assume that anyone who
has ever contributed to a project is a maintainer for that project,
responsible for that project, or responsible for fixing your favourite
bug (even if it is common and serious). If that was how it worked,
nobody rational would ever contribute anything.

If you want to pay someone to be responsible for fixing your favourite
bug, various companies offer support contracts. Otherwise, those who do
the work (in this case neither you nor me) set their own priorities.

[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device

2016-08-30 Thread Dan Coffey
MTP access is broken

Galaxy Note 7 (6.0.1) with 256GB card connected to Kubuntu 16.04 with kernel
4.7.2, same with S5 with 64GB card and S3
Phones are set to developer mode
USB set to File Transfer
Amarok is not installed.
Dolphin will connect, but it's intermittent.
If a connection is made it will fail when accessing files or transferring files.
I've tried Konqueror and Krusader same intermittent behavior.
No reliable access on Kubuntu/Ubuntu

VirtualBox on Kubuntu 16.04 running Windows 7 does supply reliable
access

Why is this such a problem on Ubuntu, it's been years and no fix
What do it take to fix this, I think there are enough developers out there that
a focused effort could be launched to resolve this problem.

mtp-detect | grep idVendor
Device 0 (VID=04e8 and PID=6860) is a Samsung Galaxy models (MTP).
LIBMTP ERROR: couldnt parse extension samsung.com/devicestatus:4
Error 1: Get Storage information failed.
It's embarrassing that I have to use Windows to access a Linux based phone.

[Bug 1618370] [NEW] nautilus does not show external drives in sidebar if plugged in on reboot

2016-08-30 Thread Rocko
Public bug reported:

nautilus 3.20 should show external drivers in its sidebar (I believe
this is the case since 3.19). It always shows my SD card drive in the
sidebar, but it only shows external USB drives in the sidebar if I plug
them in once I have logged into the desktop. If they are plugged in
during a reboot and I log in, they only appear in 'Other Locations' (and
the SD card does not appear there; I don't know if that's a bug or not).

If I unmount the external drives and remount them, they still only
appear in 'Other Locations'. I have to unmount them, remove them and
plug them back in for them to appear in the sidebar.

The attached shows nautilus with 3 drives plugged in. The SD card
appears in the sidebar, but the USB drives (a btrfs and another with a
btrfs and a ntfs partition) only are in 'Other Locations'.
