[Bug 1629456] [NEW] Summary isn't shown for snaps

2016-09-30 Thread Kyle Fazzari
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu packages are shown in gnome-software with the name, followed by
the summary, followed by install buttons, and finally followed by a more
detailed description. In contrast, snaps are shown with the name,
detailed summary, followed by install buttons. The summary isn't
present, and the experience isn't consistent with normal packages.

I suggest we maintain consistency: show the snap name, followed by the
snap summary, followed by install buttons, and finally followed by the
more detailed description.

[Bug 887821] Re: "Show copy dialog" right click launcher entry doesn't work (on nautilus copy)

2016-09-30 Thread Siim Seestrandt
I'm using 16.04.1 and once I've used "Show Desktop" while copying
something there's no way to get progress windows back unless I
logout/login (or was it reboot even?). Tried all workarounds I could
find, messed around with wmctrl (which worked nicely on everything else
except progress windows) and tried out "window-list" applet to no avail.

However, I found one way -- to install compizconfig-settings-manager and
under "General Options" untick "Hide Skip Taskbar Windows". After
logout/login or reboot when I'm yet again able to produce any progress
windows, this setting leaves the progress windows open while hiding
everything else which is ok for me/now.

[Bug 1629362] [NEW] Invalid Preview

2016-09-30 Thread David Finder
Public bug reported:

Malformed png files can make nautilus try to eat all my memory when it
tries to preview them.

the png is here:
http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/605623/xkcd1608.png

Version of Nautilus: 1:3.18.4.is.3.14.3-0ubuntu5
Version of Ubuntu : Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS

What I expected to happen: When I open Nautilus, some sort of preview or
a generic icon appears for the image.

What happens: Nautilus will take over more and more ram and swap until
the entire system crashes, or nautilus is closed from the shell.

Note this behavior doesn't occur when the downloads folder is opened in
any file dialog.

Additionally, similar behavior occurs when I try to open the file in
GIMP, but GIMP has the dignity of crashing before consuming too much
ram. Other ways of opening the file, like Firefox, simply report it as
having malformed content.

[Bug 1629360] [NEW] nautilus hides behind desktop

2016-09-30 Thread David Finder
Public bug reported:

Nautilus will hide "behind the desktop" after opening certain files,
video files with VLC being the primary offender.

These folders re appear if one closes all windows and presses alt tab,
triggering the "Restore windows" option.

Additionally, such folders will not register as having Nautilus open for
the unity side bar, and attempting to press the icon on the side bar
does nothing.

Ubuntu version:16.04
Nautilus version:1:3.18.4.is.3.14.3-0ubuntu5

What I expected to happen: Nautilus windows say up in the background and are
interact-able as if normal windows
What happened instead: Windows hide themselves in the background and pretend to
not exist.

[Bug 1629355] [NEW] Bad user experience: Missing "recent documents" in save dialogs

2016-09-30 Thread Gerd Stolpmann
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04, evolution-3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.

Open an email with an attachment, and click on the button to save the
attachment. A file chooser dialog appears. The bug is that it is not
possible to select the recently used documents.

Note that other gtk-3 file dialogs show the recently used documents even
in save dialogs. Evolution-3.18 seemed to have disabled this feature
although it is super-practical when you want to save many files (e.g.
email attachments) to the same directory. Earlier versions of evolution
supported this.

[Bug 685215] Re: users-admin hangs immediately when run as root

2016-09-30 Thread Milan Bouchet-Valat
It's actually dead since upstream archived the project several years
ago. XFCE should have took it up, or moved to another tool.

Anyway, you shouldn't need to run it as root.

[Bug 1588230] Re: systemd-resolved uses domain limited DNS servers for all requests potentially a privacy issue

2016-09-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package systemd - 231-9

---
systemd (231-9) unstable; urgency=medium

  * pid1: process zero-length notification messages again.
Just remove the assertion, the "n" value was not used anyway. This fixes
a local DoS due to unprocessed/unclosed fds which got introduced by the
previous fix. (Closes: #839171) (LP: #1628687)
  * pid1: Robustify manager_dispatch_notify_fd()
  * test/networkd-test.py: Add missing writeConfig() helper function.

[Bug 1629190] [NEW] fstab causes duplicate entries for mounts which then are desynchonized as to mount state

2016-09-30 Thread i30817
Public bug reported:

using the /media/$USER/mountpoint support i wanted to show a squashfs
file that i mounted during boot in Places.

Simple (thought i) place this in fstab:

/media/i30817/Huggin/Documents/Games/playstation_1.sqsh /mnt/Playstation
squashfs ro,nofail,noexec,nodev,nosuid,users,x-gvfs-show 0 0

any user can mount it, it is no using /media/ mounts to minimize the
possibility of 'automounters' conflict, what could go wrong?

Then i realized that the kernel (maybe?) creates another mountpoint from
the squash file to /dev/loop0 when i or the root (on boot) mounts the
file. I suppose they're supposed to be transparently coupled, umounting
the 'real' dir removes the loopback and that is fine.

What's not fine is:
1. both show in Places in nautilus
2. on boot, if i don't specify 'noauto' (which i don't want), there is the very
real possibility that nautilus gets confused and when i click on playstation it
tells me that 'playstation_1.sqsh is already mounted by /dev/loop0', and only
shows the option to 'mount' and not 'unmount' (even if it's already mounted as
a simple cmd line tests) if i right click on the Playstation place item.

This is very similar to this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/442130

but of course the current workaround of using UUIDs does not work since
a squashfs mount is in fact, not a partition and therefore has no UUID
and i need users anyway.

The bug upstream refereed in that report was closed 'fixed' but i think
it was only partially fixed. Could you open a new bug report? I never
could deal with opening bug reports on gnome, very user unfriendly place
that bug report site is.

[Bug 1573755] Re: Compose and dead keys stopped working with XIM after upgrade to 16.04

2016-09-30 Thread Pierre Abbat
I upgraded from Trusty to Xenial. Before the upgrade, the compose key was
working in all applications, except maybe Torchat (which I hadn't used for
months before the upgrade). After the upgrade:
*Konqueror works properly when I use the Dvorak layout and the compose key. If,
however, I switch to Greek and attempt to type an accented iota, I get an
accented c (ć) instead. (The accent is a dead key in the Greek layout.)
*In Kate, Kwrite, and Kmail, it works only if the resulting character code is
less than 256 (I can type ÿ, but not Ÿ, which I have to copy from Konqueror).
*In Firefox, Torchat, and Konsole, it does not work at all. I hit compose and
two keys that should make a character, but get nothing.
