[Bug 1280300] Re: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown

2016-10-23 Thread Mike Jones
The workaround below fixes a bug in the above workaround:

*
#!/bin/sh
viewnior --fullscreen '/home/user_name/Images/My solid color image which
obscures my desktop.png' &
sleep 2 &&
dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.login1
/org/freedesktop/login1 "org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.Suspend" boolean:true
&& i3lock -i '/home/user_name/Images/My image I like to look at when my
computer wakes up.png' -p default -n
*

[Bug 1280300] Re: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown

2016-10-23 Thread Mike Jones
Below is a workaround I use.

*
#!/bin/sh
viewnior --fullscreen '/home/user_name/Images/My solid color image which
obscures my desktop.png' && sleep 2 && dbus-send --system --print-reply
--dest=org.freedesktop.login1 /org/freedesktop/login1
"org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.Suspend" boolean:true && i3lock -i
'/home/user_name/Images/My image I like to look at when my computer wakes
up.png' -p default -n
*

I lock my screen with a keyboard shortcut I created in Xubuntu which I
associated with the above script.

After my computer wakes up I need to exit Viewnior (the image viewer I
am using) so that the the file called, "My solid color image which
obscures my desktop.png" disappears.

I suppose the extra step would not be necessary if someone with some
technical knowledge would explain how to cause i3lock to exit the image
viewer after the computer wakes up.

I use "viewnior --fullscreen" instead of "viewnior -f" because the later
didn't seem to work in a terminal. I suppose this was a result of my
using a French language terminal.

Also, if you need to resize your image because you want it to appear
centered on the screen, there's no need to install GIMP or any other
draw or paint application.

I used Google Drawings to resize "My solid color image which obscures my
desktop.png" to match my screen size which is 1366 x 768 pixels. I went
to File–>Page configuration–>Customize and typed  1366 then 768 and
chose pixels.

Then I downloaded "My solid color image which obscures my desktop.png"
to my local drive.

I suppose if the developer(s) of this app were to a detailed explanation
of the abovein a message, say the first five times a new image were used
in i3lock, it would help new users quickly and easily lock their screen
securely and ensure their images were centered on the screen.

[Bug 1636012] [NEW] Gnome-sesion flashback is not working because of 100% use of indicator-applet

because it makes unusable the gnome-sesion flashback, I upgraded some
Ubuntu 16.04 to Ubuntu 16.10 on some laptops and in all of them is

[Bug 1481240] Re: Can't get correct location information before use other GPS apps

2016-10-23 Thread Matteo
Nearby GPS positioning has got many problems. It is a very slow process
at phone start-up and it doesn't work very well in my opinion. I'm in
Italy, in Rome, and before to find the exact location, it takes always
at least 4/5 attempts: it's frustrating. My phone is a BQ Aquaris E5. I
have to tell also that same problems I find with HERE, Google Maps and
uNav, sign that this is a Ubuntu Touch general problem.

[Bug 1265277] Re: Nautilus Crash When Creating a New Folder For a Lot of Files

2016-10-23 Thread Hadrien
I don't have a crash on Ubuntu 16.10 (Nautilus 3.20.3) but with 1000
files, the process is very slow, something like 1 to 5 seconds per file,
the CPU load is high, and at the end the summary popup says: 0 files
moved. The move succeeded though.

[Bug 1635976] [NEW] Cannot open a new window from the launcher with middle click

2016-10-23 Thread Hadrien
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.10 x64 with Nautilus 3.20.3

* Ensure all Nautilus windows are closed
* Ensure there is the Nautilus icon in the Unity launcher
* Left click on the Nautilus icon
* Ensure a new window opens, with your home folder as the address
* Middle click on the Nautilus icon

Expected result: a new window opens, with your home folder as the address
Actual result: the mouse pointer changes to the waiting pointer and stays like
that for several seconds. Sometimes the focus is brought to the current
Nautilus window, sometimes nothing else happens than the mouse pointer change.

[Bug 1635677] Re: Right click rename: auto emptying file name is counter-productive.

2016-10-23 Thread Jiawen Chen
** Description changed:

  When I rename in nautilus, the file name (not including extension name)
  will be cleared automatically. It is counter-productive when I want do
  make minor change to the file name, for example pluralizing.
  Unfortunately this case is one big use case.
-
- Auto clearing the filename do not help users much. If I want to clear
- the file name I just do it with one keystroke.

But for my NFS drive, the files go in the .trash folder but don't show in the

[Bug 1635806] Re: dividers in rightclick menu are overpowering

2016-10-23 Thread Iain Lane
I think you're vastly overstating the impact here. I don't agree that
they look as bad as you say.

But if you want to fix it, the Ubuntu themes are the correct place. Look
for "separator" in Ambiance/gtk-3.20 and Radiance/gtk-3.20.

Reassigning.

2016-10-23 Thread BronsonMathews
had to use virtual box to get a screengrab.
16.04 is on the left, and has the correct spacing and spacer, looks great...
16.10 is on the right, the text has been squished up to close, and the spacer
is ugly

This same issue is throughout on the native style menu's... Most
noticeably in nautilus...
