[Bug 1575248] Re: "AppStream cache update completed, but some metadata was ignored due to errors." on "sudo apt-get update"

2016-11-23 Thread Jay Anderson
Noticed that I was having this issue ~20 Nov 2016. This is the most
recent mention that Google found. I will provide details if there is
interest. (Or should I just post a new bug?)

[Bug 1644383] [NEW] [Upstream] Bug 771547 - Internal Google OAuth2 authentication fails with expired token

2016-11-23 Thread petersaints
Public bug reported:

Bug 771547 from GNOME's Bugzilla affects the current version of
Evolution on 16.10 Yakkety Yak:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=771547

I'm not sure if how and if older releases are affected by it.

According to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=771547#c55 a fix
has already been released as part of GNOME 3.22.2 point release.

Yakkery Yak was released with 3.22.0 and has 3.22.1 as an update. It
would be great if you could provide an update to 3.22.2 soon as it is
already available on Zesty Zapus.

[Bug 1643134] Re: Switch gnome-software to use PackageKit backend

2016-11-23 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

This is a tracking bug to switch gnome-software from the Ubuntu-specific
apt backend to the PackageKit backend used by other distros. In
- particular this
+ particular this is the backend used by Debian.

- Prequisite: packagekit 1.1.4
-
- To build, just uncomment the commented-out packagekit lines in gnome-
- software's debian/control.in and debian/rules and remove libapt-pkg-dev
- from Build-Depends.
+ To build, just uncomment the commented-out packagekit line in gnome-
+ software's debian/rules and remove libapt-pkg-dev from Build-Depends.
+ (You can also drop aptdaemon from Depends.)

  Changes
  ===
  - It fixes some annoying bugs lingering in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS: bug 1551599 and
bug 1575426 and this recent zesty regression: bug 1640741 .

  - On an individual app page, Source is listed as something like 'ubuntu-
  zesty-universe' or ubuntu-yakkety-updates-main' or 'lp-ppa-gnome3-team-
  gnome3-staging-yakkety-main' instead of just 'Ubuntu'

  - On an individual app page, apps from multiverse or restricted will
show License as 'Proprietary' (example: VirtualBox or Devede ). This
also happens for locally installed apps (i.e. not matching what's in
your apt sources). I don't think it happens for PPAs since everything in
  a PPA is in 'main'.

  - The Installed apps list is dramatically shorter. It looks like some
sort of bug. If you search for a specific app you can still remove it.
My already installed gnome-clocks app did not show in the list, but once
I removed and installed it using gnome-software it then showed in the
  Installed list.

  - If you install an app using GNOME Software (or I assume another
PackageKit app), it lists the date it was last installed or updated on
the individual app page with a link to see its update history.

  - Any update, no matter how small, is only permitted as an offline
update. The button says "Restart & Install". It does seem to work fine
  though.

  - Another bug is that installing or Removing an app inside GNOME
Software is enough for it to "forget" about available Updates and think
that everything is "up to date".

[Bug 1644355] [NEW] udev netdev naming does not work with mellanox switches

2016-11-23 Thread Luke Williams
Public bug reported:

Hello,

The current packaged systemd for Yakkety does not have the Mellanox netdev udev
naming set for systemd patch installed (commit
4887b656c22af059d4e833de7b56544f24951184 from github.com/systemd/systemd.git).
The current version for zesty does. I installed the ppa for this on to my
Yakkety switch and rebooted and the devices are properly named.

to use it with Krusader file manager with the following command line:

gnome-terminal.real --working-directory=%d

And they all open terminal at my home folder.

[Bug 887821] Re: "Show copy dialog" right click launcher entry doesn't work (on nautilus copy)

2016-11-23 Thread Pierre
Yeah, moving 14gb set of files, web projects, which means there are a
LOT of small code files and the transfer takes quiet a LONG time, i'm at
it for more than half an hour right now, suddenly, no transfer dialog.
Don't know where it is, if it's ongoing, if its not, at least the
progress bar is still showing and i guess it will finish, i just don't
know when or where it is.

This bug may be small, for developers, but it's not for users man, it's
a simple thing that makes all the difference. I'll never be sure if all
the files of my clients where successfully transferred. Sad. So, again,
a few more hours, again.

Ubuntu 16.04.1 - Bug is still alive.

[Bug 1644330] [NEW] systemd-resolved assumes that /etc/hosts for one address family means it doesn't ask DNS for another

2016-11-23 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

I have an ipv4 entry for a key host on my network listed in /etc/hosts,
for network recovery purposes.  This host also has ipv6 connectivity;
the ipv6 address is resolvable via DNS, but I do not have it in
/etc/hosts. Resolution of hostname should be independent for each
address family.

Two days ago (I don't know what changed to trigger this), I stopped
being able to resolve the ipv6 address for this host. I traced this
down to systemd-resolved, returning a lookup failure for the nss
request, because the ipv6 address is not listed in /etc/hosts.

Removing resolve from /etc/nsswitch.conf restores the correct behavior.

Removing the ipv4 entry for the host restores the correct behavior.

[Bug 1638245] Re: Files in the root of a folder on another partition symlinked to user's home cannot be moved to trash because of a patch in this package

2016-11-23 Thread Iain Lane
** Changed in: glib2.0 (Ubuntu Yakkety)
   Status: New => In Progress

** Description changed:

+ [ Description ]
+
+ Can't trash files if the directory they are in is a symlink to another
+ device
+
+ [ QA ]
+
+ Steps:
+ 1. Install system and partition disk into root and data partitions
+ 2. create ~/Data folder, and mount data partition on it
+ 3. create symlinks for ~/whatever/ to ~/Data/something/
+ 4. delete files directly inside ~/whatever/
+
+ What happen:
+ Then Nautilus says: "File can't be put in the trash. Do you want to delete it
immediately?".
+
+ What should happen:
+ The files moved into Trash.
+
+ [ Regression potential ]
+
+ The proposed fix uses g_stat instead of g_stat to follow symlinks, so we
+ know where to place the trash (you can't rename() across filesystems).
+ If that is wrong, then it could regress trashing other kinds of files.
+
+ [ Original ]
+
  I'm on Ubuntu 16.10 64-bit with libglib2.0-0 version 2.50.0-1.

I've reported this bug (or marked as "it affects me") in a couple of
other places before I've finally discovered that this is the package
that's causing this problem, which unfortunately has been around for a
  couple of years now.

This bug has been reported upstream as well, but it's just taking very
very long to arrive at a decision and take action it seems.

  Apparently one of the patches
  (https://sources.debian.net/patches/glib2.0/2.50.1-1/0001-Fix-trashing-
  on-overlayfs.patch/) which is here

to the original package which is here

is the root cause of this annoying problem.

As I prefer keeping one patition for the root filesystem (/), one
partition for user settings (/home) and one partition for user data
(Documents, Downloads, Drive, Music, Pictures, Public, Videos) which are
simply symlinked to my home folder for ease of use, I cannot move any
file to the trash in the root of these folders when I access them from
my home folder or nautilus sidebar.

This problem doesn't affect folders at all, nor any other files in
  subfolders, etc.

So I was wondering if Ubuntu devs can leave out that particular patch
when building this package for Ubuntu - if it doesn't cause more harm,
  which I doubt.

Otherwise, I would appreciate if I could learn how to do it myself: how
can I (as an end-user) compile the contents of
"glib2.0_2.50.0.orig.tar.xz" with all the patches, etc. in
  "glib2.0_2.50.0-1.debian.tar.xz" except "0001-Fix-trashing-on-
  overlayfs.patch"?

There are some tidying-up packaging changes - I think they're okay and
you should just debdiff the binaries to make sure no files were dropped
by mistake.

Under the GNOME MRE, you can believe all bugs upstream says are fixed
are really fixed. Just test the system and make sure there are no

I think I found the cause. I accidentally forgot to install diodon

Khurshid, can you check if you have didon installed and if removing it
helps?

[Bug 1644149] [NEW] Sleeping monitor rewakes and displays broken version of lock page

2016-11-23 Thread Simon Lyall
Public bug reported:

I am running a dual monitor desktop. After I lock the system the screens
go dark and then sleep. However at some point (minutes, hours?) one of
the screens re-awakes and displays a broken version of the lock screen
(Ubuntu logo in center, version towards the bottom). The stays displayed
indefinitely until I login.

I'm running Ubuntu 16.10 (installed, not an upgrade) on a desktop.
Monitors are both Samsung SyncMasters 2443's and video card is "NVIDIA
Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 430]". The Primary (left) is plugged in
via DVI while secondary (right) is plugged in via VGA. Resolution is
1920x1200 on both.

The "bad" screen is distorted from the normal lock screen in that:
(a) It is not centered
(b) It is a darker blue than my actual screen background (that I see right
after locking)
(c) There is a white grid of dots
(d) the is a black line across the screen level with the Ubuntu version.

See attach photo.

Expected behavior: Screen stays turned off.

I previously had 16.04 on this machine, did not have this problem.

[Bug 1642903] Re: introduce disk/by-id (model_serial) symlinks for NVMe drives

2016-11-23 Thread Martin Pitt
> [Regression Potential]

This is a vast underestimate -- touching udev rules can lead to an
unbootable system in the worst case :-) I'll adjust the description.

** Also affects: systemd (Ubuntu Zesty)
   Importance: Wishlist
   Status: New

** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu Zesty)
   Status: New => Fix Released

** Description changed:

  [Impact]

  NVMe drives can't be identified/accessed via /dev/disk/by-id/nvme-SERIAL
  symlinks.

  [Test Case]

  On a system with an NVMe drive, check the /dev/disk/by-id/ directory;
with the patch, it will contain link(s) named by the drive serial
- number.
+ number. This should be the *only* change in `ls -l /dev/disk/*/*`.
+
+ On a system without NVMe, verify that `ls -l /dev/disk/*/*` is identical
+ (aside from dates, of course) before and after the upgrade to the
+ -proposed version.

  [Regression Potential]

- None.
+ Errors in udev rules can lead to an unbootable or otherwise completely
+ broken system if they unintentionally break or clobber existing
+ /dev/disks/ symlinks.

  [Other Info]

This patch is already included upstream and in zesty systemd.
