I think this is/was either a bug in the radeon driver, or a faulty
graphics card. (however, it was only triggered when on the lightdm gtk
greeter screen). I've replaced my card with another one, and no longer
have this issue.

[Bug 1668429] Re: X apps (LibreOffice, Thunderbird) fail to launch with failure to open display (no Xmir is running)

2017-03-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
If we could get a fix for bug 1577641 then this would be easy to solve
(in the most efficient way): Just start an 'Xmir -rootless ...' at
login.

That way you don't need custom launcher magic for every X app to start
an X server.

No problems marking the bug as a duplicate. I am still learning my way
around Ubuntu-land after lightly using it a few years ago. :)

Oh, I see. I read the original bug report and now I see that this is
still being worked on. To the packagers, can we, OTOH, have a version
without that UOA?

BTW, Jens, thank you so very much for maintaining shotwell. It is only
photo manager that I know of that is lightweight even when used
without large desktop environments!

Thanks,

[Bug 1581180] Re: Update to Shotwell 0.24.x

2017-03-06 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Debian has packaged 0.25.4+really0.24.5-0.1 (they rolled back from 0.25)
in Sid.

I see that the current version in Ubuntu carries a delta though, so a
newer version will likely need to be merged from Debian
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Merging). (Some of the
changes include Unity support and I don't know if they have made their
way upstream or into Debian)

I don't know. The delta looks quite big and seems to contain things like
Unity support. I don't know if this has made its way upstream or to
Debian...

[Bug 1648921] Re: Sandbox the tracker extractor

2017-03-06 Thread Jeremy Bicha
When I looked earlier, I couldn't easily backport this to 16.04 LTS.

After a few months, I believe the tracker sandbox still causes
regressions since it blocks stuff that used to be allowed. The new
tracker (with sandbox) will be shipped in 17.04 and Debian stretch, but
I think this update is not worth doing for 17.04 given that 17.04 is
already halfway through it short life and given that we are unlikely to
be able to fix all regressions it introduces.

[Bug 1601932] Re: Xenial start problems with change UUID in fstab

2017-03-06 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
These days Ubuntu mounts filesystems by UUID by default, therefore if
one changes the UUID one should update fstab accordingly.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UsingUUID for more information

If for some reason you change UUIDs all the time, you may want to change
your fstab to mount by LABEL instead, if that suits you better.

[Bug 1670290] [NEW] Ubuntu can't suspend anymore after very recent update

2017-03-06 Thread Mina
Public bug reported:

Earlier today after update Ubuntu can't suspend.

When I suspend the power button blink like it's suspended, but when I
try waking it up it boots from start. (It shows me bios password, then
grub...). It used to work fine.

It used to happen randomly but now it doesn't suspend at all. I always
know if it shows me the bios password it will bot from scratch.

Laptop is Hp Envy x360
