It does not make sense for Ubuntu to remove the Recent view from
Nautilus just so it can save you a small amount of hard drive space.

[Bug 1672202] [NEW] eog does not hide the menu on non-Unity based desktops nor display CSD correctly on GNOME based desktops

2017-03-12 Thread fossfreedom
Public bug reported:

The current eog patch-work has a number of issues.

1. It only correctly works on Unity
2. on desktop-environments such as xubuntu, the menu does not hide when full
screen
3. on GNOME based desktops such as budgie-desktop and GNOME-Shell the
client-side decorations do not display correctly

I have revised the two existing patches to fix 2 and 3 without affecting
1.

[Bug 1672176] [NEW] After windows 10 hybrid sleep/wake ntfs partition seen as unsafe to mount

2017-03-12 Thread William D Waddington
Public bug reported:

Running 16.04.2 live desktop. Windows 10 1607 installed on NVMe SSD.
After windows sleep/wake, hibernate/resume, restart, or full shutdown I
can mount the NTFS partition.

If _hybrid sleep_ is enabled, after sleep/wake NTFS partition is seen as
unsafe to mount. This persists after restarts, full shutdown, etc until
hibernation is disabled.

Error reported is same as if mount was attempted with windows

[Bug 1672161] Re: Have better archive handling

2017-03-12 Thread Jeremy Bicha
You're using Nautilus 3.22 which isn't in Ubuntu yet.

If you need something besides .tar.xz, .zip and .7z, you can just use
Archive Manager which is currently still installed by default. I think
.tar.xz and .zip should work for most people and having a very large
list of file types to choose from isn't that great.

[Bug 1672161] [NEW] Have better archive handling

2017-03-12 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

I have a system running Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 with GNOME 3.22 and I have
found that in this version of GNOME if one right-clicks on a file or
folder or a group of them and goes to "Compress..." that they are
provided with 3 different formats to compress into, however the options
which allow splitting of large archives into smaller ones as well as the
ability to encrypt them with a password are gone. This can obviously
still be done through the CLIs of the various tools, however it would be
useful to have such features accessible as they used to be through the
GUI. Perhaps this is a side-effect of making all Nautilus activities
central to the Nautilus GUI? Because I think I remember it possibly
opening another program in the past which had these options.

Regardless of what it and how it did it in the past, these are vital
options which are missing and I think should be added back for ease of
use.

I am fine with using the CLI, but many users are not.

[Bug 1672144] [NEW] ifup service of network device stay active after driver stop

2017-03-12 Thread Talat Batheesh
Public bug reported:

The network device systemd service stay active after unload the module of this
network device, that call close port (ndo_stop).
once we try to load the NIC driver again, it try to start the ifup service of
his NICs and due to the service is already up, so it fail and we didn't see the
interface with the static configuration =.
below simple reproduce with the Mellanox ConnectX4 device (driver name
mlx5_core).

Also we see this issue with Azure system, Ubuntu 17.04 guest over
Hyper-v, the VF failed to start after re-enable SR-IOV from VM's vNIC.

For now we have a Work Around that to add a udev rule,
 echo DRIVERS==\"*mlx*\", SUBSYSTEM==\"net\",
ACTION==\"add\",RUN+=\"/sbin/ifup --force $env{INTERFACE}\" >
/lib/udev/rules.d/100-up.rules
Example:
#:/lib/udev/rules.d# cat 100-up.rules
DRIVERS=="*mlx*", SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add",RUN+="/sbin/ifup --force
$env{INTERFACE}"

once interface is created the system starts a service that is responsible for
activating it (basically runs ifup).
so, at first shot everything works.
at the second driver reload:
Good flow (on good setup 4.9.0-rc5+):
1. driver is unloaded and the interface’s “ifup” service is shutdown:
