[Bug 1682879] [NEW] gnome-software on Ubuntu 17.04 distro wont install downloaded apps

2017-04-14 Thread Scott Burkhalter
Public bug reported:

Downloaded gitkraken from https://www.gitkraken.com/download
Downlaod file was saved in my user ~/Downloads folder is gitkraken-amd64.deb
Clicked on file in Downloads folder and it opens `Ubuntu Software` app and
offers an `Install` button
Click Install button and nothing happens. The button goes through the
click-state changes visually but the app is not installed

To install the app I have to open a terminal and run
sudo dpkg -i ~/Downlaods/gitkraken-amd64.deb
sudp apt install -y -f

In the GUI app, I am not prompted to elevate, no error is given and no
action results from clicking on the button.

This is a clean, fresh install of 17.04 from 4/12/2017 (disk
repartitioned by defaults and OS installed fresh on the clean disk)

Repro'd same behavior with Google Chrome .deb file - had to install it
manually.

I don't think this is a duplicate. As I said here, pressing install does
absolutely nothing. In the other bug report - that I've read before
posting this one - Ubuntu Software throws an error. If you still think
this is a duplicate, thats fine; as long as it gets fixed soon.

[Bug 1682171] Re: No way to disable tap-to-click in Mouse & Touchpad settings

2017-04-14 Thread Nica Bueller
Just registered to spread the solution to this annyoing problem. By the
way - most annoying registration process I have ever seen. Lame.

Anyways, make sure you have package xserver-xorg-input-libinput
installed. Then you need to remove package xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
and restart. After the restart you have all the options back in the GUI.

Everything is handled by xserver-xorg-input-libinput now. xserver-xorg-
input-synaptics is interfering this.

[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device

2017-04-14 Thread Stephen Hamer
Ruslan (#80) solution worked for me:

"For KDE users experiencing a similar issue, make sure that either
Amarok isn't running or its MTP plugin is disabled."

I am not a KDE user, but I was running Amarok - listening to it while I
tried to sort-out my 'phone.

It lives in my system-tray (whatever). Would never have guessed that it
was the source of the problem

Thanks very, very much for taking the trouble to post.

[Bug 1322925] Re: Copy, cut, and paste in Nautilus fail in certain circumstances

2017-04-14 Thread pigs-on-the-swim
In Ubuntu 17.04 I can not paste in Nautilus ("Files" 3.20.4).
- Menue item missing in right-click-contexct-menue
- no function at all using Ctrl + V
- no function at all with Shift + Insert (old Win3.1 style used to work in
older versions)
What appears: Nothing. Absolutely nothing happening.
This worked in former versions (12, 14, 15, 16.04, ...)
