[Bug 1613805] Re: [evolution/wip/webkit2] EHTMLEditorView - Restore the selection end mark correctly when processing HTML to plain text
** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Description changed: [Impact] - Ubuntu 16.04 evolution users sometimes send emails with ###SELECTION_END### due to a copy/paste error in the EHTMLEditorView code when converting HTML to plain text. + Ubuntu 16.04 evolution users sometimes send emails with ##SELECTION_END## due to a copy/paste error in the EHTMLEditorView code when converting HTML to plain text. This is fixed in newer Ubuntu releases. The fix is a from upstream: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/commits-list/2016-May/msg06756.html [Test Case] I tried to find a test case but was unable to as it doesn't seem to always happen and there is no upstream bug or steps to reproduce. The code change is obvious though. This is the broken code: if (strstr (*text, "##SELECTION_START##")) { GString *tmp; tmp = e_str_replace_string ( *text, "##SELECTION_START##", ""); g_free (*text); *text = g_string_free (tmp, FALSE); } if (strstr (*text, "##SELECTION_END##")) { GString *tmp; tmp = e_str_replace_string ( *text, "##SELECTION_START##", ""); g_free (*text); *text = g_string_free (tmp, FALSE); } Notice how if it finds ##SELECTION_END## in the text, it will not end up replacing it because it tries to replace ##SELECTION_START## instead. Contrast that to the stanza just above it that correctly searches for and replaces ##SELECTION_START##. Test case then is simply testing for no regressions: 1. send an html mail 2. respond to an html in html 3. respond to an html in plain text 4. send an email in plain text 5. respond to a plain text email in html 6. respond to a plain text email in plain text [Regression Potential] The regression potential is considered low since the change is minimal and obviously correct. [Bug 1672499] Re: systemd 232-18ubuntu1 ADT test failure with linux 4.10.0.13.15 on armhf
This bug was fixed in the package systemd - 233-6ubuntu1 --- systemd (233-6ubuntu1) artful; urgency=medium Merge from Debian, existing changes: * ubuntu: udev.postinst preserve virtio interfaces names on upgrades, on s390x. New udev generates stable interface names on s390x kvm instances, however, upon upgrades existing ethX names should be preserved to prevent breaking networking and software configurations. This patch only affects Ubuntu systems. (Closes: #860246) (LP: #1682437) * TEST-12: cherry-pick upstream fix for compat with new netcat-openbsd. * networkd: cherry-pick support for setting bridge port's priority. This is a useful feature/bugfix to improve feature parity of networkd with ifupdown. This matches netplan's expectations to be able to set bridge port's priorities via networked. This featue is to be used by netplan/MAAS/OpenStack. New changes: * Cherrypick upstream commit to enable system use kernel maximum limit for RLIMIT_NOFILE isntead of hard-coded (low) limit of 65536. (LP: #1686361) * debian/tests/root-unittests: disable execute and seccomp tests on arm test-seccomp and test-execute fail on arm64 kernels. Marking both tests as expected failures. An upstream bug report is filed to resolve these. (LP: #1672499) systemd (233-6) experimental; urgency=medium [ Felipe Sateler ] * Backport upstream PR #5531. This delays opening the mdns and llmnr sockets until a network has enabled them. This silences annoying messages when networkd receives such packets without expecting them: Got mDNS UDP packet on unknown scope. [ Martin Pitt ] * resolved: Disable DNSSEC by default on stretch and zesty. Both Debian stretch and Ubuntu zesty are close to releasing, switch to DNSSEC=off by default for those. Users can still turn it back on with DNSSEC=allow-downgrade (or even "yes"). [ Michael Biebl ] * Add Conflicts against hal. Since v183, udev no longer supports RUN+="socket:". This feature is still used by hal, but now generates vast amounts of errors in the journal. Thus force the removal of hal by adding a Conflicts to the udev package. This is safe, as hal is long dead and no longer useful. * Drop systemd-ui Suggests systemd-ui is unmaintained upstream and not particularly useful anymore. * journal: fix up syslog facility when forwarding native messages. Native journal messages (_TRANSPORT=journal) typically don't have a syslog facility attached to it. As a result when forwarding the messages to syslog they ended up with facility 0 (LOG_KERN). Apply syslog_fixup_facility() so we use LOG_USER instead. (Closes: #837893) * Split upstream tests into systemd-tests binary package (Closes: #859152) * Get PACKAGE_VERSION from config.h. This also works with meson and is not autotools specific. [ Sjoerd Simons ] * init-functions Only call daemon-reload when planning to redirect systemctl daemon-reload is a quite a heavy operation, it will re-parse all configuration and re-run all generators. This should only be done when strictly needed. [Bug 1683937] Re: [MIR] mozjs38
** Description changed: Availability Ubuntu is a bit ahead of Debian here but the mozjs packages are maintained in Debian. I have an ITP filed (#860396) to maintain this with the Debian pkg-gnome team since I don't think anyone else wants the burden of maintaining it. Built for all supported architectures. Rationale = Required by gjs (LP: #1683989) which is required by GNOME Shell. Beside gnome-shell, gjs is also used by these apps which might be in a default Ubuntu install. * gnome-characters * gnome-documents * gnome-maps * gnome-sushi * gnome-weather Security mozjs38 is Firefox's SpiderMonkey JavaScript engine. Therefore, it gets lots of CVEs (not all Firefox CVEs affect mozjs but there are several that do). https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox- esr/#firefoxesr38.8 Here's how things have improved in the past 6 months though. GNOME 3.22 was still using mozjs24 which is several years out of date. For GNOME 3.24, Philip Chimento (the gjs developer) ported to mozjs31 and then mozjs38. He currently expects to finish the port all the way to mozjs52 for GNOME 3.26 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/781429 . Although it's too early to make a definitive decision, I think there's a good chance we will ship GNOME 3.26 in Ubuntu 17.04. mozjs52 corresponds with the current Firefox ESR release. Until now, Mozilla didn't really handle Spidermonkey releases very well, doing one release per ESR cycle. mozjs is now being built as part of Mozilla's regular builds so I think we'll be able to get them to do regular releases too. Each ESR is supported for about one year: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/ We no longer install the /usr/bin/js binary. For 17.04, I updated the package to use the last Firefox 38 ESR as its base (LP: #1683103) Quality assurance = - - Please subscribe Ubuntu Desktop Bugs to this package. + - Ubuntu Desktop Bugs is subscribed to this package. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mozjs38 Upstream build tests are being run now using dh_auto_test. Failing tests do not fail the build on arm64, ppc64el, and s390x until we handle https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/1357593 No autopkgtests. Partly because of how old mozjs38 is, we build with autoconf2.13 and have several patches. Hopefully, those won't be needed with mozjs52. Dependencies check-mir reports all other binary dependencies are in main Standards compliance 3.9.8 Maintenance === - Actively developed upstream Background information == Of course, there's a Long Term Support problem with this package. Red Hat Enterprise Linux has begun working around this issue by fully upgrading the GNOME stack periodically. (RHEL 7 shipped with GNOME 3.8; 7.2 updated it to 3.14. GNOME 3.22 might come later this year. Most other GNOME LTS distros (like Debian and SUSE) don't upgrade mozjs. I expect we will be able to drop mozjs24 from the archives before 18.04 LTS. The developers of the packages using it are working on porting to mozjs38 now. Maybe they can port to mozjs52 before 18.04 LTS too. [Bug 1690125] [NEW] hybrid control goup mode breaks lxc adt tests
Public bug reported: I will disably hybrid control groups by default for now, but will create a ppa with such systemd, for ease of testing. FAIL: lxc-tests: /usr/bin/lxc-test-apparmor-mount --- /usr/sbin/deluser: The user `lxcunpriv' does not exist. /usr/bin/lxc-test-apparmor-mount: 138: /usr/bin/lxc-test-apparmor-mount: cannot create /sys/fs/cgroup/unified/lxctest/tasks: Permission denied Container is not defined umount: /sys/kernel/security/apparmor/features/mount: not mounted --- FAIL: lxc-tests: /usr/bin/lxc-test-unpriv --- Removing user `lxcunpriv' ... Specifically, the "hybrid" setup of /sys/fs/cgroup is now pretty much identical to "legacy" (including /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd as "name=systemd" named cgroups-v1 hierarchy), the only externally visible change being that the cgroups-v2 hierarchy is also mounted, to /sys/fs/cgroup/unified. This should provide a large degree of compatibility with "legacy" cgroups-v1, while taking benefit of the better management capabilities of cgroups-v2. * The default control group setup mode may be selected both a boot-time via a set of kernel command line parameters (specifically: systemd.unified_cgroup_hierarchy= and systemd.legacy_systemd_cgroup_controller=), as well as a compile-time default selected on the configure command line (--with-default-hierarchy=). The upstream default is "hybrid" (i.e. the cgroups-v1 + cgroups-v2 mixture discussed above) now, but this will change in a future systemd version to be "unified" (pure cgroups-v2 mode). The third option for the compile time option is "legacy", to enter pure cgroups-v1 mode. We recommend downstream distributions to default to "hybrid" mode for release distributions, starting with v233. We recommend "unified" for development distributions (specifically: distributions such as Fedora's rawhide) as that's where things are headed in the long run. Use "legacy" for greatest stability and compatibility only. * Note one current limitation of "unified" and "hybrid" control group setup modes: the kernel currently does not permit the systemd --user instance (i.e. unprivileged code) to migrate processes between two disconnected cgroup subtrees, even if both are managed and owned by the user. This effectively means "systemd-run --user --scope" doesn't work when invoked from outside of any "systemd --user" service or scope. Specifically, it is not supported from session scopes. We are working on fixing this in a future systemd version.
