[Bug 1701780] [NEW] GTK file chooser shows entries from /sys, /dev, etc.

2017-06-30 Thread Saurav Sengupta
Public bug reported:

On Kubuntu 17.10 Alpha 1, the GTK file chooser shows several unwanted
entries from /sys, /dev, etc. For me, this occurs in the GTK3 file
chooser opened from Firefox, GNOME Disks, etc. At the time of writing, I
haven't tested whether it occurs in the GTK2 chooser as well. I have
attached a screenshot showing the problem.

[Bug 1701772] [NEW] Night Light does not reset after waking up system

2017-06-30 Thread Peter Reginald
Public bug reported:

I'm using the latest gnome on Antergos 64bit.

I scheduled the Night Light to switch on between Sunset to Sunrise.

Last night the Night Light switched on automatically after sunset and
then I pressed the power on/off button on my machine to set my system to
standby.

This morning I resumed my session and noticed that the reddish filter
was still visible however the Night Light was switched off.

I tried switching the Night Light on and off but that didn't remove the
reddish filter.

I managed to remove the night light filter by changing the resolution
momentarily to some other resolution setting and resetting to my native
4k resolution.

Does this bug affect Ubuntu users too?

[Bug 1701757] [NEW] 17.04 (Zesty) does not source ~/.profile

2017-06-30 Thread Greg Williams
Public bug reported:

I have always set umask at ~/.profile and gnome-session would source
this. But in Zesty, this isn't happening, and I can find no way to set a
umask default of my choosing for the gnome-session.

Creating a document using gedit always produces the default
(unchangeable) permission represented by umask 022.

If I adjust umask at ~/.bashrc, creating a document in nano or vi works
to get a different umask. But Ubuntu users should be able to adjust
umask for GTK3 apps (like gedit) as well.

If there is a new way to set ~/.profile variables, the documentation
needs to be updated to reflect this so people know how to set them.

[Bug 1574598] Re: Nautilus can't move files (at least images) in a stable way

2017-06-30 Thread Alvin
I've seen a variation of this for nearly a year and it's been bugging me
to no end

admittedly mine may be a different issue

about 50% of the time when I copy/move a file nautilus will segfault
it seems related to the generation of icons

I've not gotten any useful data out of running nautilus in a console and
looking for an error code, just says segfault

I'd be happy to run a development copy with a debug mode so I can track
it down, this has persisted in an upgrade from Ubuntu 16.10 to 17.04

how I can help track this down?

[Bug 1701505] [NEW] cannot succesfully restart gdm (screen flashing)

2017-06-30 Thread fcole90
Public bug reported:

If I restart gdm from a VT the screen starts flashing and becoming
unresponsive. If I press CTRL+C to end the process it stops flashing and
I'm again able to use the VT, but I can't start gdm again. The only
solution to have gdm back when this happens is to reboot and let gdm
start on its own.

Expected: gdm to restart and be prompted for login, or, if it fails, to
be prompted an error stating the failure reason on the VT

What happens: screen flashing like if it was continuously switching
between VTs (possibly gdm falls in an endless loop trying to start)

[Bug 1698287] Re: VA-API fails to initialize in a Gnome Shell Wayland session

2017-06-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Here's my first attempt at a fix for totem. Although fixing this bug in
totem then triggers corruption (bug 1701463) as well as higher CPU, so
still needs more verification to see if the higher CPU is just a side-
effect of poor plugin choice or related to the corruption...

[Bug 1661590] Re: GNOME Software only supports running one application from a snap

2017-06-30 Thread Robert Ancell
Can you open bugs against GNOME Software upstream and propose patches
there? In this case the patch to master will use snapd-glib and be
different (I just pushed support for desktop files to snapd-glib
master). You can backport changes either to the GNOME stable branch if
OK'd by upstream or to the wip/ubuntu-* branches (the former is
preferrable and then we can rebase the Ubuntu branches).

[Bug 1661590] Re: GNOME Software only supports running one application from a snap

2017-06-30 Thread James Henstridge
I put together a gnome-software patch to use the extra info from mvo's
snapd change:

https://code.launchpad.net/~jamesh/gnome-software/+git/gnome-
software/+ref/pick-launch-app

It still only supports running one application, but it now favours apps
that provide a desktop file, and the snap's main app as a tie breaker.
For Libreoffice, this reliably picks the main "libreoffice" binary.

It also launches the app via the desktop file if available, so we don't
have to guess whether it needs a terminal in that case.

[Bug 1701463] [NEW] gst-vaapi+Wayland = rendering corruption in totem (but not in gst-play-1.0)

2017-06-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

After successfully getting gst-vaapi to work in a Wayland session
(either requires Weston, or you to unset $DISPLAY in Gnome Shell), totem
produces rendering corruption. Strangely enough though, gst-play-1.0 has
no such corruption.

Note: The technique of unsetting $DISPLAY to avoid Xwayland and use
Wayland-proper only seems to work for totem, not gst-play-1.0. gst-
play-1.0 only renders to Wayland successfully (without corruption) in
Weston.

Tested with:
http://distribution.bbb3d.renderfarming.net/video/mp4/bbb_sunflower_1080p_60fps_normal.mp4

[Bug 1685754] Re: gnome-terminal unduly forces umask=0022

2017-06-30 Thread Etienne URBAH
$ grep '^ *[^#].*pam_umask' /etc/pam.d/*
/etc/pam.d/common-session:session optional pam_umask.so
/etc/pam.d/common-session-noninteractive:session optional
pam_umask.so

Whatever sources of confusion :

Even with 'umask=007' in the 'gecos' field of '/etc/passwd', 'gnome-
terminal' currently starts with umask=022.

I confirm that this issue is a security issue, which must be corrected.

IMHO, the best fix would be that GNOME systematically uses the standard
'pam_umask' module.
