[Bug 987986] Re: Cannot browse files via bluetooth on Android device

2017-08-24 Thread blinkofdawn
Still not solved in 17.10 alpha 2 as of now.

A real pity. Such basic functionality should be provided working out-of-
the-box. Actually, this is even a regression, since older Ubuntu
versions (back in about 2009/2010) had a working browsing functionality
for Bluetooth phones. This is literally a bug that hasn't been fixed for
ages.

Bug set to confirmed in April 2012. Nothing done ever since. Would help,
but I'm not a programmer. Please fix!

[Bug 1501250] Re: double clicking on a URL drops the protocol from the URL

2017-08-24 Thread Egmont Koblinger
Ctrl+click opens the URL in your preferred browser.

Do you often need to copy the URL into your clipboard instead? I guess
Ctrl+Shift+click could be made to do that, sounds reasonable to me
(although will be a hard to discover feature).

Could you please file a feature request at bugzilla.gnome.org to keep
track of this (and also hear the main maintainer's opinion)?

[Bug 1712895] [NEW] Menu entries in right-click menu for left panel item not clickable

2017-08-24 Thread Matt Summers
Public bug reported:

Seen in artful alpha.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Files (nautilus)
2. Right-click an item in the left panel such as "Desktop"
3. Observe right-click menu has appeared.
4. Click on a menu item such as "Properties"
5. menu disappears, nothing happens.

What I expected:
Desktop properties window should appear.

Observations:
* Menu items do not react to hover-over, do not act like regular menu items.
* Seen in ambiance theme, but also tried with adwaita and observed no
difference.

You close this report because it's 2 year old and the package has been updated
multiple times since, and nobody cares (anymore). I'm sorry that I took time to
report this issue. In the future, I won't anymore.

[Bug 1709135] Re: add bond primary parameter

2017-08-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package nplan - 0.26

---
nplan (0.26) artful; urgency=medium

  * Bonding:
- Add support for specifying a primary slave. (LP: #1709135)
  * Rebind:
- Fix brcmfmac harder. Treat any 'brcmfmac' driver as not supporting
  rebind. (LP: #1712224)
  * Autopkgtests:
- Add allow-stderr. Systemd now bleats about a the networkd socket still
  being around and enabled when we restart the service; but we don't need
  to care since we're /restarting/ the service to load the new config.
- Fix the autostart package to be more sensible: we don't really care if
  networkd autostarts or not, but we need to make sure that our generator
  will run at boot, so instead check the state, but only assert it once
  we've added a config file and before checking the state of our dummy
  device.
- Do a bit more to make sure "mix" tests which stack virtual devices are
  as reliable as possible; by setting saner defaults.

[Bug 1501250] Re: double clicking on a URL drops the protocol from the URL

2017-08-24 Thread Peter Boström
For me selecting a link using double click is faster than using the
right-click context menu (overall don't like menus as I can't use them
quickly). To me that's a regression (I can't select URLs as fast as I
used to), but that doesn't mean that bringing back the old double-click
behavior is the right fix.

Is it feasible that a single-click shortcut that could be used for this
context-menu option? For me something like ctrl+click or shift+click on
a URL instead of using the right-click menu would be acceptable (and
probably preferrable to my original double-click + ctrl+shift+c workflow
as it's fewer actions / faster).

[Bug 1712800] [NEW] FFe: gnome-shell 3.26

2017-08-24 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

The Ubuntu Desktop Team wants to ship gnome-shell/mutter 3.26 with
Ubuntu 17.10. The new version appears to improve responsiveness and has
quite a few other improvements and tweaks.

https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-shell/tree/NEWS
https://git.gnome.org/browse/mutter/tree/NEWS

armhf issue
===
The major blocker now is that gjs 1.49/mozjs52 is not working on armhf. See
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/786578

If we can't find a fix to this problem, we may need to remove gjs (and
rdpends) binaries from armhf. We didn't want to rush into doing this but
discuss this more as a team first.

One other option is to temporarily remove gjs 1.49 (and gnome-shell,
gnome-sushi, polari) from artful-proposed. But since we do want to
target mozjs52 for Ubuntu 17.10 for security support reasons, that's
only a partial help.

Mutter transition
=
mutter 3.26 has a soname bump but the only other rdepend, Budgie, is already
confirmed as working with the new version.

Packaging is available in the GNOME3 Staging PPA or
https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-service/+archive/ubuntu/2916/+packages

[Bug 1712797] [NEW] FFe: gnome-control-center 3.26

2017-08-24 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

The Ubuntu Desktop Team wants to ship gnome-control-center 3.26 with
Ubuntu 17.10.

This is a major change as the default "shell" has changed. The Network
and Displays panel have been rewritten.

https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-control-center/tree/NEWS

Justification for Delay
===
We did not push this update before Ubuntu 17.10 Feature Freeze because we
didn't want to knowingly introduce regressions. There are 2 patches that need
to be rewritten:
- The system-wide network proxy patch
- The Ubuntu Dock settings patch.

All 3 of those big changes landed only about 2 weeks ago or less (new
default shell, rewritten Network panel, Ubuntu Dock Settings). There's
just a lot going on in the Desktop Team right now!

Other Info
==
gnome-control-center 3.25.91 is available for testing in the GNOME3 Staging PPA.

It's possible that there are regressions in the new shell but we'd like
to try to find and fix those in time for 18.04 LTS.
