[Bug 1733033] [NEW] drag-and-drop suddenly stops working in app running under Wayland until I restart app
Public bug reported: Many times since I upgraded to 17.10 and started using GNOME on Wayland as my desktop, I've found in Thunderbird that I suddenly stopped being able to drag and drop messages into folders. I can click and hold the message and drag it, but when I hover my mouse over the destination folder nothing happens. This seems to be a problem related to gnome-shell + Wayland, because after like the nth time it happened I was sufficiently annoyed that I decided to find out if it would occur under Xorg, and in the week+ since I switched to from Wayland to Xorg it hasn't happened a single time. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: gnome-shell 3.26.1-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-16.19-generic 4.13.4 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-16-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.4 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Fri Nov 17 21:37:58 2017 DisplayManager: gdm3 InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-05-19 (182 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.04 "Zesty Zapus" - Release amd64 (20170412) SourcePackage: gnome-shell UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to artful on 2017-10-20 (28 days ago) ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug artful third-party-packages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1733033 Title: drag-and-drop suddenly stops working in app running under Wayland until I restart app To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1733033/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1733032] [NEW] touchpad disable while typing, disable tap-to-click don't work in 17.10
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to 17.10, my mouse pointer is repeatedly and frequently getting moved against my will when I am typing on my laptop keyboard (as opposed to external keyboard) because my hand brushes against the touchpad or even just near its surface. Furthermore, I don't want tap-to-click to be enabled. I want to actually have to push down on the mousepad hard enough to click it to generate a mouse button event. I can't figure out how to disable tap-to-click in 17.10 either. I did not have these problems _at all_ in 17.04. I have the touchpad click method set to "Areas" and "Disable While Typing" enabled in gnome-tweak-tool. This does not help. I have these lines in the touchpad section of /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf as well: Option "DisableWhileTyping" "true" Option "PalmDetection" "true" Option "Tapping" "false" They don't help either. This is a substantial regression in functionality from 17.04. It appears to be a problem using both Wayland and Xorg. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: gnome-shell 3.26.1-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-16.19-generic 4.13.4 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-16-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.4 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Fri Nov 17 21:28:05 2017 DisplayManager: gdm3 InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-05-19 (182 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.04 "Zesty Zapus" - Release amd64 (20170412) SourcePackage: gnome-shell UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to artful on 2017-10-20 (28 days ago) ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug artful third-party-packages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1733032 Title: touchpad disable while typing, disable tap-to-click don't work in 17.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1733032/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1728449] Re: Indicator icons do not appear after upgrade to Ubuntu 17.10
Question is, why indicator-application-service is running in your GNOME session? Are you using some special systemd configuration? As this should not be running in GNOME but only in the Unity session. As for the other issues mentioned here, I think that it's not really an ubuntu bug, but it looks like a misconfiguration on the client part. Having two extensions trying to handle indicators isn't feasible (as they both want the same dbus name), so we can't do much. At least in future it won't be possible to install KSTatusNotificationIcon extension and the ubuntu indicators one together, so the issue will be less visible. ** Changed in: indicator-application (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete ** Also affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1728449 Title: Indicator icons do not appear after upgrade to Ubuntu 17.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1728449/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1733002] [NEW] Google Online Account Two Factor with hardware key fails immediately
Public bug reported: The hardware key authentication two factor fails immediately with a web based retry dialogue when connecting a Google account to the online accounts in settings using a hardware key second factor. Steps to reproduce: 1. Set Google Account to default to a hardware security key like a Yubikey or other FIDO standard key after having two factor authentication enabled on your Google Account. 2. Open Online accounts 3. Add a Google Account 4. Enter google email address 5. Enter google password 6. (this is the login flow of two factor, if default is the hardware key the error should appear). [Bug 1714989] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast() from st_label_set_text() from ffi_call_unix64() [Global App Menu specific?]
Thanks for all these reports... Unfortunately all these issues are unrelated to the shell itself, but I please you guys to report these crashes to the extensions authors (as I already did in various cases, proposing fixes too). In fact, what I suspect might have changed is the way gjs (or new mozjs) handles the destruction of the actors (as js elements)... Or the shell itself might destroy the extension actors at its request. When this happens, the extensions should block all the async operations that are happening, so as a generic rule I guess they should connect to the extension actor "destroy" signal and stop all the async operations there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1714989 Title: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast() from st_label_set_text() from ffi_call_unix64() [Global App Menu specific?] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1714989/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1725792] Re: Word-wrap breaks in windows with small width
I can understand that the bug reporting experience can be frustrating, it's not ideal for sure. We recommend reporting to launchpad because we want to know about the issues we have on Ubuntu and some of the issues have to do with Ubuntu specific changes. In an ideal world we would be able to deal with all the feedback, but in practice we don't have the manpower for that. We review the bugslists and try to surface important issues and work on those, which means a lot of the less-critical reports just end up "sitting there". When it looks like the issue is an upstream one and not important enough for us to work on it then I tend to recommend the submitter to try to send it upstream to increase the chances to have it looked at by somebody. Thank you for your reply Sebastien. As long as there's a process, that's fine. Whether it gets classified as won't-fix or something else is also fine. The bigger picture is that if I get the impression that I reported a bug in the "wrong" bug tracker even after going through multiple wiki pages (and CL tools) just to make sure how to do it right, it would undermine the whole bug reporting process. There is a process, bugs triagers do send some of the issues upstream but there are not enough manpower to deal with all the reports so it might takes time. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
