[Bug 1730184] Re: org.gnome.Shell.desktop[29954]: intel_do_flush_locked failed: Bad address

2017-12-20 Thread sfc
Same here, sometimes the system will just freeze (even caps lock led not
working), and after about 1 minute, the gnome-shell crashed to login
screen, with all running apps crashed. Happens two or more times a day.

It's really annoying because sometimes this causes some lines of code I
just wrote in IDE lost.

[Bug 1739525] Re: gnome-shell segfault at e8 in libgdk-3.so.0

2017-12-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Hmm, there don't seem to be any instances of the original problem in
those logs.

Can you please try (after reproducing the problem again) attaching full
output from 'journalctl', and also from dmesg? Full logs are fine, but
you may wish to also increase the privacy of the bug report again.

Secondly, handy tip: On the affected machine, try opening this link via
a shell command to see what automated crash reports the machine has
uploaded...

  xdg-open "https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/"`sudo cat /var/lib/whoopsie
/whoopsie-id`

If it shows you any from gnome-shell then please mention them here. You
might need to register to get access to that page though:

[Bug 1580605] Re: gnome-shell crashes often

2017-12-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please see comment #13 and #16.

For crashes it is important that everyone initially logs their own bug.
This bug is for user 'gnufied' only, and has expired due to lack of
response from them.

Yes, gnome-shell has many crashes. We are tracking them and trying to
get them fixed. However it is counterproductive for multiple people to
share the same bug unless they can prove they have the same stack trace.
Since there is no stack trace from the original reporter, nobody else
should be jumping on board with this one just yet.

Ideally, if you have a crash, please look for crash files in /var/crash
and then upload them only using this command:

  ubuntu-bug /var/crash/YOURFILE.crash

You may then want to leave a comment here telling us your new bug ID.

2017-12-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
OK. Keep an eye out for new Xorg.log files.

In the mean time, please try:

1. From the login screen go Ctrl+Alt+F4 and log into the text console.
2. Ctrl+Alt+F1 to return to the login screen.
3. Try to log into Xorg mode again.
4. While the Xorg session is failing to start, return to Ctrl+Alt+F4 and run:
journalctl > latestlog.txt
5. Attach latestlog.txt here.

2017-12-20 Thread shemgp
Thanks for testing. It really does not work on a freshly installed
Artful, because the mechanism was only allowing root and not lpadmin to
run. I changed that and tested it on a freshly installed Artful, and it
worked, so here's another debdiff. I also updated my PPA. Please do
test.

[Bug 1739019] Re: Gnome Shell does not start in Xorg mode

2017-12-20 Thread Owais Lone
I had removed old Xorg.log files from /var/log last time I was trying to
debug this. Strangely, the files are not even generated now anymore even
if I try to login to Xorg session

[Bug 1739391] [NEW] Shotwell scrolling results in white screen

2017-12-20 Thread Ray Hendricks
Public bug reported:

I have scaling set to 175% but everything except 100% results in the
same bug.

Touchpad scrolling does not work in the image library view and when I
grab the scroll bar with the mouse (trackpad) and scroll it down, the
shotwell library window fills with white and shotwell needs to be
restarted. I can reproduce this every time.

Note that if I switch to xorg, I don't get this error (but I can't do
fractional scaling)
