[Bug 1758563] Re: Blocked at gdm login screen on 18.04 if user password has a circumflex accent

2018-03-25 Thread Xavier Guillot
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1716159 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1716159

Hi, I'm not sure this is an exact duplicte of bug 1716159 (I saw it
before reporting here). It's right, today I checked, if I enter û in the
gdm login field, it writes u, but :

- this was also the case since early alpha testing of Ubuntu 17.10, I
already had the same password, only since update of 10th March 2018 it
is refused. And when I chose it, on the live USB installation, was the
French alternative keyboard selected, so I'm sure it was with the accent
(I checked again, typing one with û and one with u gets an error on 2
passwords not matching).

- In this case, modifying the password in recovery session should have
allowed me to login again (which I could in terminal only the very first
time I had this bug, so modification was successful, after ,I have no
access to console), but not...

Something specifically changed between mid-February and 10th March
making login impossible with my "û" containing password and forcing me
to reinstall...

[Bug 1755800] Re: Greeter/lockscreen fails to authenicate in an endless loop

2018-03-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Come to think of it, some code might be returning ENOSPC ("No space left
on device") for a RAM-based operation.

So please also check how much RAM your system has before and after the
problem (run 'free -m'), and check 'ps' to see if any process is
unusually large.

2018-03-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
"No space left on device" is coming up way too often in your log. I
can't explain that but it is still possibly relevant since a lot of
things are failing with that message.

Please monitor your disk usage carefully, before and after the problem
occurs again. And when it occurs again, please send us a fresh log file
as well as more 'df -h' output.

[Bug 1758525] Re: Elantech Touchpad - theres no automatic stop while tipping after changing to xorg

2018-03-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1756006] Re: FFe: Support suspend-to-hibernate

2018-03-25 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
>From systemd point of view, the patches are relatively straight forward,
and simply add "one more way to sleep/suspend/hybernate/etc" without
affecting any other code paths or any other functionality. Thus i see
little risk for landing the systemd patches.

If this turns out to be bad, only the policy would need to be change to
either not offer it by default, or not use by default. Or some such.

[Bug 1758314] Re: Open new windows in the middle of the screen

2018-03-25 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/issues/ .

If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or
the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its
status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1758706] [NEW] Session logs out after screen turns off

2018-03-25 Thread Stuart
Public bug reported:

This is the same bug as #1721428

:/var/crash$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 17.10
Release:17.10

I am using a NUC7i7BNH connected via HDMI. The screen turns off after 5
minutes of inactivity and automatic screen lock is also turned on to
lock the screen after screen turns off.

When I resume activity, I am presented with the logon screen, which
after entering my password, reloads another logon screen. When I then
enter my password the second time, I am logged in, but it is a new
session.

[Bug 1758673] [NEW] gnome-calculator not resizable, output unrea.....

2018-03-25 Thread theAntiBob
Public bug reported:

xUbuntu 16.04.4
gnome-calculator 3.18.3

gnome-calculator is now covered in pointy popup unitylike skin. must have taken
some time.
unfortunately it is not resizeable or even useable any more

attached is a screenshot of the unreadable output. is this a dpi issue?
holy smokes seems like less than 20 spaces before the equals sign and
perhaps less than 5 periods might let a user read the output?

seriously, what happened here. it's a calculator.

please don't mark this low priority, this obviously affects multiple
users and honestly, it's a calculator. you shouldn't have to unitybar
your calculations to google or whatever is happening in gnome nowadays.

sorry for ranting, it's tax season

In a couple of days, I'd guess.

That package is needed for Kubuntu, and is installed only if the kio
package was installed previously, which it is not on standard Ubuntu
AFAIK. Not a bug.

2018-03-25 Thread Ping-Wu
BTW, do you have any idea when this fix will go into the daily built?
Really look forward to testing it!

Also, when I click on the "manage installed language" dialog bar, I would
be prompted to install "kde-config-fcitx". This is unnecessary and clearly
is a bug and should be removed.

Thanks again!
