Thanks for your report. It works fine for me on g-c-c 1:3.28.0-0ubuntu6. The command line way to set it for left-handed is: gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.mouse left-handed true and to see the current setting: gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.mouse left-handed Changing that value is what the GUI in g-c-c is for. [Bug 1623666] Re: iOS device contents not displayed in Ubuntu
Following up to my #49: I'm working with Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS. The Martin Salbaba ppa had been working for me with an iphone 5 and iOS 10.3 Recently I went to a new phone running iOS 11, and I fail to get to photos with ifuse after an apparently successful "idevicepair pair". Ifuse complains about "lockdownd". The libimobiledevice packages show version 1.2.0+git20161018-3salbabix27xenial. The ifuse package shows version 1.1.2-0.1build3. At bug 1718554, there is the suggestion of a procedure for re-building from source. It is said that this will fix the problem. I have not tried it. I would rather have an updated package rather than blindly follow building-from-source instructions. Question: Is the Martin Salbaba ppa the standard location for the libimobiledevice6 and libimobiledevice-utils packages? If not, where? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to libimobiledevice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1623666 Title: iOS device contents not displayed in Ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libimobiledevice/+bug/1623666/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1718554] Re: Need updated libimobiledevice to mount IOS 11 devices
I wish to second the request of #5 that working access to photos on iphones be kept up to date in xenial. For the credibility of xenial's LTS status this should be done. Up to the recent time of a new device with iOS 11, I had things working with iOS 10.3 using Martin Salbaba's ppa for the packages libimobiledevice6 and libimobiledevice-utils. Even going for a ppa raises unnecessary system maintenance work for something as basic as retrieving photos from a phone. My impression is that there have been repeated stumbling blocks related to the issue of whether iOS wants ssl or tls. I would like to hope that ubuntu at runtime can decide to go either way even if iOS (which should be able to go either way) cannot. [Bug 1754872] Re: gnome-control-center is unusable on xubuntu-desktop, but called from Gear (About this Computer, System Settings) icon, Text Entry Settings, clock (Time & Date Settings)
@dino99 Again. I have had pretty small clean installation of mini.iso. Then I installed `xubuntu-desktop` meta-package. I do not have other desktops installed. This method is normal and useful. It worked normally for years. I'm using it for `ubuntu-mate-desktop` without issues. So you guys, have wrong dependency-trees. Usually I do not care about Xfce (but I like it for simple design and minimalism), and you can of course ignore my comments and actions. But do not be surprised at similar reports when the final release is released. [Bug 1754872] Re: gnome-control-center is unusable on xubuntu-desktop, but called from Gear (About this Computer, System Settings) icon, Text Entry Settings, clock (Time & Date Settings)
Hello Norbert Such cases are expected: - each DE have its own environment and architecture that can be compatible with an other one, or not. - In fact the relationship between them does not really exist, and testing has not been done to resolve the possible conflict. Lot of reports have been sent since ages by users discovering free OSs and testing and mixing different DEs. The result is quite often the same: most of the time it ends by a clean reinstall. But the future, when snap installation will become mature and stable, will allow such freedom. [Bug 1754872] Re: gnome-control-center is unusable on xubuntu-desktop, but called from Gear (About this Computer, System Settings) icon, Text Entry Settings, clock (Time & Date Settings)
Dear Sean! It seems you do not understand bug description. I install `xubuntu-desktop` task-package from mini.iso on 18.04 LTS with `sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop`. What is the difference with "a base install of Xubuntu"? What is wrong is this method? Users should be able to install desktop task as they want. Clean installation is not an option for some (or most do not really sure) users. I attach the list of installed packages. I do not have other desktops installed. You should check this again. It may be dependency problem or something similar. [Bug 1754691] [NEW] Missing IP address info in Gnome Network Indicator pulldown
You have been subscribed to a public bug: In order to support end-users using Ubuntu over the telephone it is often necessary to request the user to tell you their IP address. In previous versions of ubuntu it was in two clicks Network, Network Status. For some reason this information is no longer available in 18.04LTS Beta 1. This makes it very difficult to support. It is unreasonable and not-secure for end users to be opening the terminal to identify the IP address. Even if that is how Windows does it, Ubuntu has always been better on supportability. Steps to reproduce: Click the combined Network, Volume, Power indicator dropdown Click Wired Connected Click Wired Settings No IP, MAC, Gateway information shown. No useful information at all in fact. What should happen: Click the Network Icon Click Network Information A dialog box (that you can copy paste from) with all the network information IP, MAC, Gateway are shown. [Bug 1756508] Re: Gnome-shell CPU load dramatically high and stuck high with Eclipse
Update. I stopped using Eclipse on Ubuntu for now, but I'm just facing the same problem again, now with Emacs 25.2.1. It appeared when I maximised the window and then tried to reduce it. gnome-shell CPU load reached 95% and after a while decreased down to 70%, but it's not stable, sometime increases again to some peaks... Seems not Eclipse related and seems Emacs too can trigger the same troubles. [Bug 1760399] [NEW] New On-screen keyboard cannot be manually triggered to appear
Public bug reported: I have always used an on-screen keyboard as a virtual keyboard for entering text in a different layout than my physical keyboard. This time I cannot, since I cannot manually trigger the new OSK. Steps: 1. Open Firefox 2. Try to enter text in a different layout using the new OSK 3. You cannot make the OSK appear When enabled, the new OSK appears automatically in Activities, but I cannot trigger it outside GNOME apps. You have to enable the new OSK first from Universal Access in Settings. I consider this a regression from 16.04 LTS, where On-board is easily triggered. Workaround: sudo apt install onboard ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: gnome-shell 3.28.0-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-13.14-generic 4.15.10 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-13-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sun Apr 1 11:31:16 2018 DisplayManager: gdm3 InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-10-02 (180 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.10 "Artful Aardvark" - Beta amd64 (20170930) SourcePackage: gnome-shell UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to bionic on 2018-03-27 (4 days ago) ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1760399 Title: New On-screen keyboard cannot be manually triggered to appear To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1760399/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
