Get that message logged:

[Bug 1661590] Re: GNOME Software only supports running one application from a snap

2018-04-12 Thread James Henstridge
@simosx: I gave this another test on a clean xenial VM with the same
gnome-software version as you. Each time it launched the main
"libreoffice" command (showing a window asking to open recent files or
create a new document in one of the libreoffice applications).

gnome-software continues running when you close the window, so is it
possible you were still running the old version when you saw the
failure?

[Bug 1763401] Re: 17.10: gnome-shell regularly locks up in VirtualBox - unity is still fine

2018-04-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
A lock up is probably the result of some component crashing. So to debug
this problem we will probably need to get some crash reports. Please do
these (in the VM):

1. Apply the workaround from bug 994921.

2. Reproduce the problem, then look in /var/crash for crash files, and run:
   ubuntu-bug /var/crash/YOURFILE.crash

3. If everything goes well, 'ubuntu-bug' will create a new bug report
each time you run it. So let us know here those new bug IDs.

Please don't try attaching crash files to existing bugs because we can't
debug them that way. They must be uploaded using the 'ubuntu-bug'
command.

[Bug 1763339] Re: Mouse and trackpad buttons not swapping to left-handed

2018-04-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
As far as I can tell, there is no GUI to configure left-handed mode.
Also the the xinput property "Left Handed Enabled" seems to be missing
for mice.

So this probably wouldn't be a libinput problem -- it's higher level
than that.

[Bug 1763546] [NEW] No text quoted in a reply or forward

2018-04-12 Thread resplin
Public bug reported:

Steps to Reproduce:
* Open Evolution
* Browse to an email in an IMAP inbox (Gmail)
* Press "Reply to All", "Reply to Sender", and "Forward"

Behavior Observed:
* A composer window is opened with the correct address and subject for a Reply
or Forward. If Forward, then attachments are included.
* No text is included. Even if text is highlighted in the original email, it
will not be included.
* Copying and pasting text from the previous email into the new composer window
has no effect.
* Typing in the composer window works as expected.
* Text is not quoted from HTML or Plain Text emails.

Behavior Expected:
* Text in the previous email should be included in the composer window in a
quoted or inline format.

Environment:
* Evolution 3.28.1-1
* Ubuntu 18.04 Beta, Ubuntu Bionic Beaver (development branch)

Note:
* I have configured Evolution to always respond with Plain Text emails,
including losing formatting from HTML emails.
* It worked on April 11 until I performed an upgrade. It was immediately broken
afterward.

[Bug 1721669] Re: Restore Disk Image stuck at 0% using 100% of CPU, then Disks crashed when I closed its window

2018-04-12 Thread Alexander Browne
This occurs for me on a system that had been upgraded from 17.04 to
17.10. I've now upgraded it to 18.04 pre-release and Disks's restore
function is working again. It does seem to use a lot of CPU, however,
but I haven't compare it with another system very scientifically.

[Bug 1685754] Re: gnome-terminal unduly forces umask=0022

2018-04-12 Thread Coeur Noir
You can of course use pam_umask(8) on Ubuntu as well if you wish.

→ no longer works « globally » since 17.04, hence this dicussion.

→ before 17.04 just setting your favorite umask in /etc/login.defs did
the job once and for all.

[Bug 1665140] Re: Emoji that should be wide, according to Unicode 9, display incorrectly in the terminal

2018-04-12 Thread Lino Mastrodomenico
FYI, Unicode 9 only adds support for some characters (e.g. U+1F920, 鸞,
is correctly marked as wide starting from Unicode 9) but others require
an update to Unicode 10 (e.g. U+1F92F, 勞) to be marked as wide.

[Bug 1762772] Re: Keyboard shortcuts applet misses some keybindings

2018-04-12 Thread mike stewart
Symptoms are the same as #1508146 (but I'm not sure it's the same
cause).

alt+left/right sends me to another tty (terminal shell). Although I'm still
trying to determine if its window manager / keymapper kind of issue or what. I
use ubuntu because I don't typically like to get to this level.

This seems to be a regression error, I installed updates yesterday (same
day I noticed: Apr-11 and also updates on either Apr9/10).

Also of note, (out of ordinary), I had to kill an out of control
evolution-addressbook-factory-subprocess process using System Monitor.
System lost a lot of window manager features and led me to switch tty to
reboot.

[Bug 1763350] Re: Evolution 3.28.1-1 doesn't do replies or forwards correctly

2018-04-12 Thread siucdude
Does this include issue where i have multiple accounts and multiple
Signatures and when i Open for new Email... It does not matter which
signature i choose, It only shows the default Signature.

Or if you reply from Account 1 the Signature of Account 2 is used and
you can't change that.

Thank You

the message is new..
Also I have multiple Accounts with different signatures and when i hit reply or
try to create a new message.. it only displays one signature and i can't change
it nor i can't delete it.

I'm just speculating here, but I wonder if having a VPN configured (even
though it's not enabled in your screenshot) could be a factor?

[Bug 1763401] [NEW] 17.10: gnome-shell regularly locks up in VirtualBox - unity is still fine

2018-04-12 Thread Alexander Jones
Public bug reported:

Repro:

 * VirtualBox Version 5.2.8 r121009 (Qt5.6.2)
 * Windows 7 host
 * VirtualBox 3D Acceleration enabled, given 128MB video memory
 * VirtualBox guest additions installed.
 * Log in with either Ubuntu (Xorg) or GNOME (Xorg) (both are actually
gnome-shell)
 * Open a File browser or a Terminal, or probably anything
 * Maximize the window (this part is also pretty slow)
 * Unmaximize the window

Expected:

 * Maximize and unmaximize take a fraction of a second. System operates
as normal afterwards.

Actual

 * Maximize is already pretty slow - the first frame of the animation takes a
few seconds to render and then freezes, then a few more seconds later the
window is full screen.
 * Unmaximize just locks up gnome-shell for 30s or so. Eventually it repaints,
but the shell is now completely unusable - no more repaints. I waited minutes
and it still didn't come back to life. This happens 100% of the time.

I *can* switch to another VT, and log in in text mode, and see that
gnome-shell is occasionally showing activity at 40+%. I can switch back
to GNOME and still see the frozen screen.

NB: Unity works fine, as it did in 17.04.

I suspect something that gnome-shell does with OpenGL that unity didn't
do is triggering a software fallback or something. Is there any way to
run a diagnostic to test / benchmark the OpenGL capabilities used by
gnome-shell?

Thanks, apologies in advance if I missed any critical information. Happy
to provide more system details.

[Bug 1763350] Re: Problems with Evolution 3.28.1-1 (Webkit)

2018-04-12 Thread Jeremy Bicha
This will be fixed in evolution 3.28.1-2 which is on its way to Ubuntu
18.04. It may take a few days because we are late in the release cycle
and uploads like this one will need to be manually approved by the
Release Team.

[Bug 1763350] [NEW] Problems with Evolution 3.28.1-1 (Webkit)

2018-04-12 Thread cigtoxdoc
Public bug reported:

When I upgraded from 16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS, I received a new version of
Evolution. I was involuntarily upgraded from 3.20.1 to 3.28.1-1.
Evolution 3.28.1-1 has some major bugs. When I reply, the text of the
message I am not replying to is NOT included. The same problem occurs
when I forward a message as inline. Moreover, when I attempt to add a
signature, I get broken pipe errors. Please see output below when I
started Evolution from the CLI.

How do I get a fully functional Evolution back???

John

[Bug 1724439] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in meta_window_get_monitor() from ffi_call_unix64() from ffi_call() from gjs_invoke_c_function() from function_call()

2018-04-12 Thread wdoekes
I just upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04 with libmutter 3.28.0-2 and ran into
this; monitor poweroff/poweron yields a crash of gnome-shell. The good
news is that the applications are not killed like they were in 17.10
(with wayland?). But waiting for the ubuntu-bug crash file to get
generated isn't a good use of my time either.

For me, applying the following patch works:

  https://bug788834.bugzilla-
attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=361331

Patched binaries are here:

  https://downloads.osso.nl/libmutter-3.28.0-ubuntu-
bionic/mutter_3.28.0-2osso1/

Cheers,
Walter Doekes
