[Bug 1771196] [NEW] daap plugin opens port by default

2018-05-23 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

You have been subscribed to a public security bug:

In a default installation, the daap plugin is enabled, and listens to
port 3689 (daap).

tcp0 0 *:daap *:*
LISTEN guest-43a0me 72019 -

Ubuntu has a "no open ports by default" policy.[1][2]

[1] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/753986
[2] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/Policies#No_Open_Ports

Please resolve this e.g. by updating rhythmbox not to listen on a port
by default, or documenting rhythmbox as an exception to the security
policy.

2018-05-23 Thread Steve Beattie
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1773063] [NEW] Unable to open files from Nautilus sftp mount in non-default Ubuntu programs

2018-05-23 Thread Vikrant Shah
Public bug reported:

When I mount a remote ssh file system using the 'nautilus connect to server'
option, I would expect that when I right click the file to open with a
particular program it should work seamlessly. However, I am only able to do
this with 'standard' ubuntu packages such as gedit or libre writer.
If I try to open the file with Geany or Atom, the files fail to open. Even
when I try to open the files from the open dialog box inside of these programs
the files don't open.

2018-05-23 Thread Daniel van Vugt
We will need a new bug to be created by that command. You will need to
hit 'S' at the end to send the crash report and then it will tell you a
web URL. You don't need to have a GUI at the time - just copy the URL
and open it on a different machine to complete the bug report process.

When done, please let us know the new bug ID.

[Bug 1772638] Re: segfault in libmutter-2.so after suspend/resume using wayland

2018-05-23 Thread Daniel van Vugt
At a guess, probably some Bourne shell script used in suspend/resume is
missing the line '#!/bin/sh' at its top. That would cause the script to
fail if you changed default shell.

I have no idea where to start looking for such a mistake though.

[Bug 1552792] Re: gnome software leaves dependencies installed

2018-05-23 Thread Robert Ancell
It looks like the PackageKit change will be accepted upstream - this
stops the autoremove functionality to only remove dependencies of
packages being removed. This matches the old aptd behaviour.

GNOME Software will have to be distro patched however, as upstream
considers this functionality not reliable - since we have limited
backends on Ubuntu we can enable it however.

[Bug 1759462] Re: Keyboard shortcuts not operational on 18.04

2018-05-23 Thread Dustin Krysak
Have confirmed this to be an issue on other distros besides Ubuntu
budgie. Usually restarting the window manager solves it. Wondering if it
is something to do with gnome 3.28.

We never had this issue in 17. 10. Which was running on a previous
version. The lastest change to the UB stack was the version bump to
gnome 3.28

[Bug 1267371] [NEW] Evince crashes after filling out PDF form

2018-05-23 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After filling out a few (~20) form items in this pdf form:
http://www.pehamholz.at/fileadmin/content01/Service/Peham_Zuschnittsformular.pdf
, evince doesn't accept more input - the keyboard just does not respond to
typing within evince. Cursor positioning in other form fields with the mouse
works well, but no typing available.
Then I click onto a non-editable text and press Ctrl+S to save the document on
disc. When I close evince, it crashes reproducible (each time).

[Bug 1772751] Re: gdm-simple-chooser segfault in libX11.so.6.3.0

2018-05-23 Thread orondo jones
I can run the ubuntu-bug program but it indicates that I am to fill out
a form in my web browser. The problem is that I can't get a graphical
interface even at the console so I cannot complete the form. I did run
ubuntu-bug. The following is what I see when I choose the view report
option.

*** Collecting problem information

The collected information can be sent to the developers to improve the
application. This might take a few minutes.

*** The crashed program seems to use third-party or local libraries:

/usr/local/lib/libz.so.1.2.11

It is highly recommended to check if the problem persists without those
first.

Do you want to continue the report process anyway?

[Bug 1768610] Re: No acceleration after upgrading to 18.04: gnome-session-check-accelerated incorrectly picks llvmpipe

2018-05-23 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The issue there is a that nux-tools has a conffile that does
"/usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test || export LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1"

When the package is removed but not purged the command fails and
software rendering is enabled wrongly

Marco could you have a look, we should probably fix the script to not
export the env if the helper is missing

[Bug 1772638] Re: segfault in libmutter-2.so after suspend/resume using wayland

2018-05-23 Thread Thorsten
okay its definitely associated with zsh as login shell. I now have >50
successful resume/suspends.

So to summarize:
- mutter crashes in 1 out of 10 suspend/resumes when zsh is set as login shell
- however, i cannot use apport to get a crash log due to zsh

-> i cannot get both apport (requires bash as login shell) and reproduce
the segfault (requires zsh as login shell)

Is there a way to still debug the problem? I am still willing to help!
>From my end it is resolved, since i just changed the login shell back to
bash and set a custom command to zsh in my terminal.

Yes there are two cases here, although related. I experience these
freezes when coming out of screen standby, which sometime are longer and
end up with a session crash, but in many case they just freeze the UI
and send the screen back to dmps standby

[Bug 1772914] [NEW] Bad behavior of activities overview when workspaces span displays

2018-05-23 Thread david23
Public bug reported:

When option "Workspaces span displays" is enabled, gnome's "Activities
overview" does not work as expected.

Indeed, in the primary display only windows opened on the current
workspace are shown while in the secondary displays the windows of all
workspaces are shown.

* Expected behavior:
Activities overview only shows the activities of the current workspace for each
display

* Actual behavior:
When workspaces span displays, the secondary display show the open windows of
all workspaces

[Bug 1772238] Re: .desktop file strings shown untranslated in Budgie

2018-05-23 Thread fossfreedom
Just got pinged about this.

I strongly suspect this is because in UB the gnome-control-center
.desktop files are overridden in /usr/share/budgie-desktop/applications.
This is because the one or more of the categories prevent the .desktop
files from appearing in the menu. UB holds an override with a modified
category list.

>From a quick look it looks like the Name= field value has changed more
most of the gnome-control-center .desktop files between GNOME 3.26 in
17.10 and GNOME 3.28. UB at the very minimum needs to fix this via a
budgie-desktop-environment package change.

Will confirm that asap - hopefully cross-fingers - this will also fix
this reported issue with gnome-control-center. If it does I'll remove
the other affected packages.

[Bug 1772638] Re: segfault in libmutter-2.so after suspend/resume using wayland

2018-05-23 Thread Thorsten
Hi,

i switched my login shell back to bash (chsh -s /bin/bash) and i was not
able to reproduce the issue in ~30 resume/suspend cycles. This is still
no valid statistic but is it possible that zsh as login shell can
segfault mutter? Of course, I will report if it occurs!

ubuntu-bug still has the problem with the old crash file, probably since
it wrongly generated or?

Thanks and sry for this non-default setup.
