After running 'xset dpms force off' with lid closed on a laptop to disable the backlight, moving the mouse or touching the keyboard will cause the backlight to turn back on. The backlight should never turn on under any circumstances when the lid is closed, unless maybe in the case that the user runs 'xset dpms force on' explicitly. [Bug 1773597] Re: USB flash drive won't mount
The latest Ubuntu update included Linux version 4.15.0-23-generic. This appears, after a single test after a reboot, to have allowed a FAT- formatted USB memory stick to be recognized and mounted. I opened the device and copied a file to it then unmounted it with no problem. However, the encrypted device still does not work. When inserted, a dialog box appears that allows no input except in it. I entered the pass phrase, but nothing happened except the pass phrase (dots only) were spread out beyond their input area. The machine was effectively locked out. Previously, I had power cycled the machine to get out of this condition, but this time I had an appointment and just left it. When I returned several hours later, the dialog box had disappeared. Yet I was not able to access the device: a box with an error message appeared instead. Nor could it be ejected: "Writing data to Lexar USB Flash Drive Device should not be unplugged." -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1773597 Title: USB flash drive won't mount To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1773597/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1766137] Re: [regression] Password accepted but login fails (blank purple screen and mouse pointer only)
The policy for Stable Release Updates is to let them age a minimum of 7 days in the -proposed pocket before releasing them to the -updates pocket. Reading the comments here I've noticed that the automated SRU testing comment doesn't make any reference to that 7 day period nor does it point to the wiki page that documents the aging period. I'll work getting that fixed shortly. Speaking with another SRU team member we've decided to waive the 7 day period and will release the fixed version of gdm3 today. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1766137 Title: [regression] Password accepted but login fails (blank purple screen and mouse pointer only) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/1766137/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Upgrading to bionic with desktop-file- utils_0.23-1ubuntu3.18.04.1_amd64.deb as part of the dist-upgrade also worked fine, as expected (again, ignoring friendly-recovery failure due to container). ** Attachment added: "Log of successful upgrade when upgrading desktop-file-utils to bionic-proposed version as part of dist-upgrade" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/desktop-file-utils/+bug/1769954/+attachment/5151670/+files/good-bionic.log ** Tags removed: verification-needed-bionic ** Tags added: verification-done-bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to desktop-file-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1769954 Title: package desktop-file-utils 0.23-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/desktop-file-utils/+bug/1769954/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1769954] Re: package desktop-file-utils 0.23-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed
artful upload: Verified by first running a dist-upgrade from artful to bionic, which failed; then first installing new desktop-file-utils before running the dist-upgrade, which succeeded (ignoring the friendly-recovery failure due to being run in container). ** Attachment added: "Log of successful upgrade after installing artful-proposed packages" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/desktop-file-utils/+bug/1769954/+attachment/5151659/+files/good-artful.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to desktop-file-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1769954 Title: package desktop-file-utils 0.23-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/desktop-file-utils/+bug/1769954/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

(the log was for a second run, first one failed to start dist-upgrade due to lock race, hence desktop-file- utils_0.23-1ubuntu3.17.10.1_amd64.deb was already installed). ** Tags removed: verification-needed-bionic ** Tags added: verification-done-bionic ** Tags removed: verification-done-bionic verification-needed-artful ** Tags added: verification-done-artful verification-needed-bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to desktop-file-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1769954 Title: package desktop-file-utils 0.23-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/desktop-file-utils/+bug/1769954/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1769556] Re: Snap branches shown in random order
I am not sure how to verify this SRU because the server no longer advertises branches (comment 4 bug 1768794) and this information is not displayed in gnome-software. Tracks are in a predictable order. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1769556 Title: Snap branches shown in random order To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1769556/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1768779] Re: Snap channel selection list not scrollable
SRU verification for Bionic: I have reproduced the problem with gnome-software 3.28.1-0ubuntu4 in bionic and have verified that the version of gnome-software 3.28.1-0ubuntu4.18.04.1 in -proposed fixes the issue. However this could be improved a bit because the scrollbar overlaps with the right side of the "switch" buttons.
