[Bug 1723181] Re: shotwell crashed with SIGSEGV in g_menu_model_get_n_items()

2018-06-29 Thread Brian Neltner
Happens to me whenever I make edits to a photo. It keeps asking me to
save repeatedly even when the document has already been saved and does
so again when I reopen the file (which shows the changes!).

Doesn't actually "crash" on me though if that's different. It just
thinks it crashes as far as I can tell, Shotwell itself seems to keep
running... maybe a subcomponent that Shotwell itself is properly
recovering from?

[Bug 1779327] [NEW] Keyboard layout indicator does not update if user sets "while pressed" shortcut

2018-06-29 Thread Norbert
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Ubunu 18.04 LTS
2. Add two keyboard layouts (for example, English and Russian)
3. Install GNOME Tweaks (`sudo apt install gnome-tweaks`)
4. Launch GNOME Tweaks
4.1. click on *Keyboard & Mouse* group
4.2 In *Keyboard* section click *Additional Layout Options* button
4.3. In opened window expand *Switching to another layout*
4.4. Check checkbox named *Right Alt (while pressed)* (for example).
4.5. Close GNOME Tweaks windows
5. Test layout switching - press and write some text

Expected results:
* keyboard layout indicator shows second keyboard layout when user holds
button and shows the first when it is not pressed

Actual results:
* keyboard layout indicator shows only the first keyboard layout

2018-06-29 Thread Raphael Mankin
Public bug reported:

[Bug 1768786] Re: Desktop is displayed when resuming from suspend

2018-06-29 Thread Will Cooke
Test on Bionic:

gnome-shell:
  Installed: 3.28.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1
  Candidate: 3.28.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1

With auto-screen-lock OFF suspending and resuming displays the lock
screen as it should do. I.e. the fix is working.

Verification done.

[Bug 1779289] [NEW] bluetooth mouse not reconeected on reboot

2018-06-29 Thread dudsen
Public bug reported:

This affects at least 2 different bluetooth mice(both logitech)
The behavior is that initial config when using the gui works but that the
resulting
"/var/lib/bluetooth///info" file does not contain a
[LinkKey] section as the mouse does not require a pin.
This mouse was connection on reboot under 16.04 so it's a new bug for 18.04

When setting up the mouse using bluetoothctl the info file is correctly
written with a [LinkKey] section and everything works,

[Bug 1774597] Re: G-C-C privacy option don't allow sending manual report

2018-06-29 Thread Didier Roche
** Description changed:

  [ Impact ]
- * The current label "Manual" is in fact shutting down whoopsie completely
and not providing any graĥical way to set manual reports (which is our default
on 18.04)
- * We want to SRU gnome-initial-setup for 18.04.1 so that sending reports is
linked to sending error report: opt-in -> automated report is set; opt-out ->
no report is set. We need a way to represent those 3 states of error reporting:
-- never
-- manual
-- auto

+   * We want to SRU apport with a "remember this" option which will trigger
"never" or "auto" mode.
+
  [ Test Case ]
- * Install new gnome-control-center version, go to the privacy panel
- * Click on the error reporting line
- * In the model window, play with the switch and toggle, and check in d-feet
the whoopsie state. Basically you can't adapt error reporting mode
(manual/auto) if you decided to not report error mode.

- * This code would affect the privacy g-c-c panel.

[Bug 1779096] Re: Mouse speed settings not used on the login screen

2018-06-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It differs (I think) in that the wifi networks and default keyboard
settings are system settings not stored in your personal account. Mouse
speed is not a system setting and is stored in your personal account.

Yes, if you want mouse speed to be configured like wifi and keyboard
defaults then an enhancement to gnome-control-center (and other
components) is what you want.

[Bug 1779096] Re: Mouse speed settings not used on the login screen

2018-06-29 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
How is this different from Wifi and keyboard settings that I'm already
setting system wide? And how does this compromise the security of the
system? The gdm user doesn't need to be able to change my settings. All
it needs is to be able to read some settings to use them instead of the
defaults if I'm the only user. I'll open a bug.

[Bug 1779096] Re: Mouse speed settings not used on the login screen

2018-06-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It is impossible to fix without compromising the security of the system.
Other user accounts should not have access to your personal settings
before you have given them your password.

I'm not suggesting editing XML is something normal people should do. It
was just a suggestion to try and help.

[Bug 1779096] Re: Mouse speed settings not used on the login screen

2018-06-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I suggest the way forward is for you to ask the Gnome developers for a
future solution by reporting an issue here:

 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/issues

Because it would involve changing the control center to let you change
the system defaults.

[Bug 1779096] Re: Mouse speed settings not used on the login screen

2018-06-29 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
I don't agree this is an invalid bug. It may be hard to fix but it's
still a bug. Editing xml files to get a reasonable user experience is
not a polished desktop. There are already settings (like wifi) that
apply system-wide so there's no reason for mouse and screen settings to
not be the same.

[Bug 1779262] Re: Right click on a video file and select properties will crash the file browser.

2018-06-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your bug report is missing crash details. In
order to debug a crash we will need a crash report. To create one,
please follow these steps:

1. If you are not running a future development release of Ubuntu then apply the
workaround from bug 994921.
2. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport.
3. If the crash is in Xorg then uncomment this option from
/etc/gdm3/custom.conf:
   # Additionally lets the X server dump core if it crashes
   #Enable=true
4. Reboot.
5. Reproduce the crash.
6. Look in /var/crash for crash files and when found, run:
   ubuntu-bug /var/crash/YOURFILE.crash
7. Add a comment here telling us the ID of the new bug that was created in step
6.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments, and doing so is also a
security risk for yourself.
