[Bug 1773597] Re: USB flash drive won't mount

2018-07-11 Thread Roy Kimbrell
I booted the Dell Studio XPS machine from a USB drive loaded with Ubuntu
16.04. I inserted multiple USB drives (one holding the OS was already
there) and two others. They mounted within seconds and Nautilus
displayed their contents when the drive was clicked on.

This did not happen in Ubuntu 18.04. A drive would not come up for 4+
minutes. And would not mount multiple USB drives.

HOWEVER, something hinky did happen. When multiple drives were mounted,
the USB mouse would not function. So there is something wrong with the
USB subsystem in that machine.

But, 16.04 definitely worked better than 18.04.

[Bug 1781271] Re: Gnome shell crashing after login

2018-07-11 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. Please:

1. Apply the workaround from bug 994921.

2. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
 ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
and tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

3. If step 2 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the contents of the /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id file on the
machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on the machine? If so
then please send them to us.

[Bug 1781271] [NEW] Gnome shell crashing after login

2018-07-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Gnome shell usually (not everytime) crashes after login. When I log in
everything looks fine. Then I try to start firefox, gnome-shell crashes
first time, but recovers in this first case. Second crash occurs after I
try to click with mouse or press some key. This time it crashes whole X
and returns to login screen.

In log I can see gnome-shell segfaults in libgobject.

[Bug 1420955] Re: gvfs-mount: samba ressources - no copy or move files - Access denied

2018-07-11 Thread gf
Hello Referat,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with the gvfs
package. You made this bug report in 2015 and there have been several versions
of Ubuntu since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to
this bug?
If you are, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 1420955
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.
G

[Bug 1781284] Re: trash handling brooken.

2018-07-11 Thread kenjo
And this is on NFS mounted filesystems. so the .Trash- directory is
created for every mount point and files moved to trash is moved to that
directory but the content is not shown and not possible to empty.

This used to work fine but now its not possible to list or empty trash
on anything but $HOME.

[Bug 1781260] Re: Language input sources Dutch (Belgium)

2018-07-11 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Not sure what you mean. However, certain keyboard layouts require the
availability of a matching locale to be selectable in Region & Language.
So if you add this Belgian locale:

sudo locale-gen nl_BE.UTF-8

a few Belgian layouts are made available in a sub menu of the Dutch
item. Does that possibly help?

[Bug 1781260] [NEW] Language input sources Dutch (Belgium)

2018-07-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In previous editions of Ubuntu I could select a Belgian Dutch keyboard, which
is different to the Dutch keyboard of the Netherlands. It would be great to get
this option back in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
So now I'm obliged to use the French setting.
Thanks for fixing this!

[Bug 1781262] [NEW] manually closing notification popups causes error messages in journal

2018-07-11 Thread Markus Seeber
Public bug reported:

closing a notification popup by clicking on the [x] in the notification
popup produces error messages in the journal.

This behavior can be reproduced reliably by calling for example
"notify-send test" in a virtual terminal and closing the
notification popup manually by clicking the [X] button in the
notification popup.

EDIT: log messages were removed from the report and attached as txt file
to preserve line breaks.

[Bug 1762952] Re: Alternative shortcut for layout switching Alt+Shift unexpectedly set by default

2018-07-11 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
@yoosofan: Several options, including CapsLock, are available to switch
layout. If you want to suggest that to be the default option in Ubuntu,
you'd better approach the GNOME developers:

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/issues

(The discussion seems unrelated to this bug.)

[Bug 1762952] Re: Alternative shortcut for layout switching Alt+Shift unexpectedly set by default

2018-07-11 Thread yoosofan
Is there a reason why we cannot use CapsLock for changing layout?
CapsLock is the most simplest key for changing layout when you want to work
with both hand while writing a mixed text of two language. Actually CapsLock
does not use to its main function because people barely write with a lot of
bold words and using shift for occasionally one letter is very common,

[Bug 1781091] Re: notify-send only works the first time

2018-07-11 Thread Egor Tensin
I installed a fresh Ubuntu on a VM, and the problem did go away. I'm
sorry for misleading you. I found out that the problem goes away if I
disable the third-party GSConnect extension (due to be included in the
next Ubuntu, https://github.com/andyholmes/gnome-shell-extension-
gsconnect) that talks to KDE Connect on my phone. Disable the extension,
reboot, and the problem is gone (Alt+F2 & r doesn't work). Enable it
again, or even open the preferences, and the problem appears again.
