[Bug 1790762] [NEW] Ubuntu Software sign in menu needs UI work

2018-09-04 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

See the attached screenshot.

1. In my opinion, a menu shouldn't show Sign Out (even if greyed out) at
the same time as it shows Sign In.

There are a few other usability issues. Let me know if you want separate
bugs.

2. I am already logged in to Ubuntu Single Sign-On in GNOME Online
Accounts, set up with Ubuntu Welcome.

3. The same credentials work for both the Snap Store and Ubuntu One so I
think there shouldn't be separate sign in buttons.

[Bug 1790596] Re: [Wishlist] add workspaces switching grid icon by default

2018-09-04 Thread Daniel van Vugt
How would it work in gnome-shell?

In Unity that icon causes all workspaces to be zoomed out and become
visible. Is that what you're aiming for? If so then that's a bigger
feature than just adding an icon.

Please describe the desired feature in detail in a new bug report here:

  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/issues/new

and then tell us the new bug ID.

for inhibiting the screensaver are disabled (LP: #1007438)
+ Depend on grilo base plugins not the full set

[Bug 1714804] Re: Aardvark Daily: Indicator-Multiload doesn't show full-width

2018-09-04 Thread Lester Carballo Pérez
Well, please see i just fixed the official gnome shell extension for the
indicator-multiload. Source:

https://gitlab.com/lestcape/gnome-shell-extension-
appindicator/commit/c4cbe95502e53a3b9b89aa5ad9261e76b67987b7

Explanations:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1067766/upgrade-from-16-04-to-18-04
-indicator-multiload-doesnt-work/1068801#1068801

I think more work is needed to really support non homogeneous indicator
in general. Please note that probably the main inconsistency is that the
extension not return the indicator as the same type of actors, that is
wrong in my opinion, because cause some inconsistencies, but is easy to
fix that also.

[Bug 1727356] Re: Login screen never appears on early generation Intel GPUs (Core2 and Atom etc)

2018-09-04 Thread Treviño
This is fixed upstream as said, and I'll cherry-picked to the 3.28
branch upstream [1], so will be backported to bionic soon.

Ideally we were waiting for an upstream point release, to make this
easier to get in ubuntu, but if that won't be done quick enough we'll
cherry pick the commit.

[Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find

2018-09-04 Thread anonymous mouse
OK. So I was a happy user of 16.04. With a new computer in August, I
thought it would make sense to go with 18.04.

One of the biggest issues is this searching stuff in Nautilus. Why?
1. It is not instant (unlike the type/find ahead of Nautilus in 16.04). I
cannot type and then press enter and load the folder I want.
2. It is inconsistent with file dialogs (e.g. save or open) where find/type
ahead works as expected.
3. Often I just want to see the files and folders in relation to one another. I
might want to see the files starting with 'th', and being able to see the files
starting with 'te' and 'tg' before the ones starting with 'th' is often quite
useful.
4. There is no way that I can see to make it search only within the directory
and not recursively search all subdirectories. I don't like that.
5. And searching within subdirectories doesn't even work 100% of the time! E.g.
A search for a dot folder consistently doesn't turn it up.

Thank you Ubuntu developers for previously hiding this stupidity. Please
consider getting rid of it in 18.04 as well.

[Bug 1790624] [NEW] rhythmbox periodically hangs during playback via SFTP

2018-09-04 Thread Dmitrii Shcherbakov
Public bug reported:

Scenario: a server is available via LAN from which content is played
back via SFTP (ssh, gvfs).

After some time (could be an hour) rhythmbox hangs and a window comes up
suggesting that you can either wait or terminate rhythmbox.

There are no network interruptions that would cause something like this
(the issue comes up quite frequently) and plus I do not see any of the
threads to be in the D state.

strace shows that there is a futex wait for some condition.

New release in the stable 3.28 series.

Other Info

I am not working on this update now.

Please add --enable-ps to the build options since this version disables
viewing Postscript files as a workaround for security issues in
Ghostscript. We should fix Ghostscript instead.

[Bug 1789943] Re: Ubuntu Software only shows snap app's without any explanations or advices

2018-09-04 Thread michel2652
I agree !

Canonical should not impose snap, this should remain a secondary
alternative that should not be prioritized over classic apt
repositories.

A snap should only appear if there is no alternative!

Snap has a lot of inconvenience.

[Bug 1757088] Re: Activities overview causes increased CPU in Wayland & Xorg

2018-09-04 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Maybe in the previous comment was being overly harsh on myself and
gnome-shell. According to the latest stats, this bug was actually mostly
fixed by:

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/merge_requests/73

which is also in Ubuntu 18.04 and later already.

So let's call this bug closed and open a new one when/if new stats are
at hand.

[Bug 1774957] Re: Network icons in status menu disappearing

2018-09-04 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The fix landed upstream in master, but it was _after_ tag 3.30.0. So the
fix is either in gnome-shell version 3.32.0 or 3.30.1 ...?
