[Bug 1807265] Re: Screen locking issue

2018-12-14 Thread Kevin Arnett
I discovered that the issue seems to not actually be the lock screen.
Last night the screen timed out but did not lock as the lock is set to happen
at 30 minutes but the blank screen at 10 min.
The screen blanked and the issue occurred. I came back to the laptop some time
later and found that the login prompt was there, and it let me enter my
password and login.

[Bug 1759462] Re: Keyboard shortcuts not operational on 18.04

2018-12-14 Thread Mike Kelly
This (keyboard shortcuts not working) happened to me, specifically
CTRL+ALT+T not giving me the terminal. I experimented and found that the
ALT key was at fault - it wasn't registering. I then found a reference
on line (sorry don't have the URL) to this being a keyboard Language
issue. I then tried: Settings, Language and Region, then set Language to
English (United States) - I had it on English (Australia). My ALT key is
now working.

it contains 1288 pictures and a folder with 24000 pictures... so it is a normal

In any case nautilus handles them without particular effort.

My screens highest resolution is 1366 x 768.
Thanks for responding. Are there plans to make changes to allow for those with

Also is this why it the edge snapping works without the sidebar as the

else?

[Bug 1773959] Re: High CPU usage by gnome-shell when only running gnome-terminal

2018-12-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Actually... my gnome-shell seems to spend about 25% of its time in the
kernel ("system time"), and 75% in user space. That means 0.25*0.8327
--> around 20% of gnome-shell's time is spent inside the clock_gettime
system call. This is quite significant actually. Thanks.

[Bug 1803271] Re: [regression] Much higher CPU during some gnome-shell operations

2018-12-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Unassigned myself. The fix for bionic will arrive via upstream release
1.52.5, but we probably want that to go into Debian testing first which
is something I don't have the power to do.

It also looks like 1.52.5 will allow us to drop all patches \o/

[Bug 401823]

2018-12-14 Thread Jeremy Huddleston
This seems more like a server issue. I think it could easily be possible for
the server to guarantee that XIDs are not reused within a certain time period
since it issued a DestroyNotify. That won't guarantee that clients are happy,
but it can certainly help. We just need to store a timestamp of the time the
XID was destroyed and if the head of the recycle queue is too recent, we
allocate a new XID rather than recycling.

Tracking for 1.12, but I'd consider this for 1.11.x if the change is simple
enough.
