[Bug 1819406] [NEW] Found broken a feature for fingerprint image obfuscation

2019-03-10 Thread Seong-Joong Kim
Public bug reported:

Dear all,

In this package, a random seed is used for generation key for obfuscating a
fingerprint image in uru4000 driver.
Unfortunately, it seems that the seed always exhibits the same sequence of
numbers each time since it is generated from rand() in libc by default.
Then I reported this issue to the upstream with the patch.

However, the maintainer insists that the obfuscation-feature can be broken
since the key for encryption is composed of just 4-bytes length.
Thus, there is no need to patch about random seed anyway.
It's pretty weird to say that.

Would it be all right if I leave this as it is?

Many thanks!!

[Bug 1799266] Re: gnome-shell uses high CPU when simply moving windows

2019-03-10 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I think it's too early for this to be a release bug. A bunch of fixes
are still awaiting upstream review, some require more upstream work by
me, and the final one needs to be rewritten completely after so re-
profiling. Lots of upstream work to do before considering this for
distro.

Can you clarify what "did not do anything" means? Because if you have

different again.

[Bug 1767454] Re: "Other Locations" does not automatically find Samba servers in Ubuntu 18.04

2019-03-10 Thread Amir
I have to say that this bug is a dissapointment. The whole samba support
in Ubuntu since 18.04 is abysmal. Prior to this, I was able to access
shares with no problems, now there is a problem. The bug has been posted
one year ago. After changing the protoocol, I discovered I needed to
change the interface too, because samba somehow insists on using
virtbr0.

Why? These things are a dealbreaker. My wife uses a NAS drive on our
network. Each time I tried to show her the advantages of linux, some
_basic_ function like using a NAS without configuring a f.. FTP client
for her, just coming to the box and finding that it works, prevented her
from switching.

[Bug 1292041] Re: Lockscreen doesn't turn off the screen

2019-03-10 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Please open this bug back up. It is not fixed!

All monitors go off initially, but as soon as the lock-screen happens,
my laptop's built-in monitor comes back on and stays on forever. This is
an expensive 4K monitor and this bug is burning it up.

The only work-around I've found is to turn off screen-lock, which is not
acceptable from a security perspective.

Please help!

I am here because a couple patches ago, I lost ability to resume from
sleep. Opening the lid, it would just hang in black screen, requiring
hold of power button +5 sec to turn off. I tried the blacklist-nouveau
and bbswitch-dkms tricks, no difference. On top of that configuration,
I upgraded to kernel 4.18, still no difference.

I found a repo for drivers > 390, http://ppa.launchpad.net/graphics-
drivers/ppa/ubuntu

I reverted previous changes, uninstalled bbswitch-dkms, and eventually
got drivers, libs and nvidia-* packages for version 410.104 installed
properly.

Fixed. I can once again close the lid, the laptop sleeps; open the lid,
the laptop wakes and gives the beaver login screen. Awesome.

Thanks Alberto and other devs for your work.

[Bug 1021375] Re: Nautilus says the USB stick is read only when it is not

2019-03-10 Thread Padmal
After a recent update to my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, this error pops in. The
solution was to use the similar "killall nautilus" and it fixes it.
