[Bug 1824699] Re: gnome-calendar pango critical

2019-04-18 Thread Oliver Ritter
I tried to add my hometown Dorsten to weather inside calendar again.
When i enter Dorsten (this is in germany), the search does not find or offer my
city. When i press enter, this setting is set. I checked in dconf editor,
there was the default value

org.gnome.calendar weather-settings (true, false, '', nothing)

And now there is the value

org.gnome.calendar weather-settings (true, false, 'Dorsten', nothing)

So calendar weather accepted my town Dorsten and now crashes after that.

When i enter for example Berlin, the search offers this city and
calendar is fine. The problem is when cities are entered, that are not
found in search

[Bug 1825447] [NEW] 19.04 packaging is from master and not the ubuntu branch

2019-04-18 Thread Ed Bruck
Public bug reported:

It appears the code used in the 19.04 packaging of the appindicator is
from master and not the tagged ubuntu-19.04 commit from the ubuntu
branch. The master branch is not delivering scroll events, which stops
my application (radiotray-ng) from being able to adjust its volume
levels.

I've swapped out the code under /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions
/ubuntu-appindicat...@ubuntu.com/ with the ubuntu branch and scrolling
on an indicator icon works again.

I've filed an issue on github as well.

like it was

What happens instead: It shows up with the generic application icon on
the window list and a black box with a red error when I cycle through
windows using alt+tab/super+tab

[Bug 225361] Re: .gvfs can't be stat'd by root causing backup tools to fail

2019-04-18 Thread ALinuxUser
I have this problem, with the program rclone (see this bug report that I
filed - seemingly mistakenly - against rclone:
https://forum.rclone.org/t/read-failure-error-despite-trying-to-exclude-
the-problematic-item/9509/23. It's a pretty annoying problem (and it is
not rclone's problem).

I note that this bug's status is 'expired'. Yet, the problem still
affects me (and doubtless others too).

[Bug 1825396] [NEW] "Open in Terminal" returns "Text ended before matching quote was found for '"

2019-04-18 Thread Tom Reynolds
Public bug reported:

Attempting to open a Desktop folder named "aaa'bbb" (without double
quotes) using the "Open in Terminal" option from the context menu
produces a notification message stating:

Execution of "x-terminal-emulator --working-directory=/home/...
Text ended before matching quote was found for '. (The text was
"x-terminal-emulator --working-directory=/home/x/Desktop/aaa'bbb")

This suggests improper escaping (possible security impact with command
injection).

Steps to reproduce:

1. On the Ubuntu 19.04.0 amd64 Desktop, right-click, and select "New folder"
2. Enter the following folder name and press Enter: aaa'bbb
3. Right-click on the newly created folder icon
4. Select "Open in Terminal"
5. The above notification pops up, no terminal window opens.

The expected outcome would be:
5. A terminal window opens in directory ~/Desktop/aaa'bbb

[Bug 1825390] [NEW] "Open in Terminal" opens terminal in home directory

2019-04-18 Thread Tom Reynolds
Public bug reported:

The desktop folder context menu option "Open in Terminal" opens a new
terminal, but the working directory is the home directory when it should
be the folder context.

To reproduce:

1. Create a folder "test" on the Desktop
2. Right-click on the "test" folder icon on the Desktop
3. Click on "Open in Terminal"
4. A terminal window opens, with a "USERNAME@HOSTNAME:~$" prompt

Correctly, step 4 would be:
4. A terminal window opens, with a "USERNAME@HOSTNAME:~/Desktop/test$ prompt

[Bug 1800912] Re: cannot update browser foxfire read-only file

2019-04-18 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Would very much like this fixed in the LTS version 18.04 (I thought the

I'm using this on a standard work machine/system and it would be a hard

While I did not find any actual solution, I put together a workaround that I
wanted to share here as I think someone might find it useful. I'll appreciate

Re: [Bug 1292398] Re: Second screen position isn't saved from one session to another

2019-04-18 Thread Chris Rainey
Our setup:

1. Older GPU(Integrated Intel® HD Graphics 2000)

2. Always using some sort of display multiplexer(splitter) on VGA out to
dual TV’s, previously, now only single local monitor on VGA and 4K
Tx(wireless) on HDMI out to a projector, currently.

Thoughts:

1. Could the splitter or wireless transmitter be inducing some sort of
delay or interference with the EDID detection of the monitors expected by
gdm3 + gnome-session + mutter in an X11 session?

2. What is slick-greeter doing differently from gdm3 that avoids this
problem?

3. Does LightDM differ from slick-greeter all that much?

[Bug 1292398] Re: Second screen position isn't saved from one session to another

2019-04-18 Thread Christopher Nelson
To reproduce it, try switching the order of your displays. For example,
make the display on port 0 be on the right of the display on port 1
(instead of the "natural" order of 0=left, 1=right.) I also notice that
changing the orientation of the primary display to "portrait right"
causes problems, whereas landscape or portrait left don't.

[Bug 1822753] Re: /usr/bin/gedit:11:gedit_metadata_manager_set:gedit_document_set_metadata:save_metadata:gedit_document_dispose:g_object_unref

2019-04-18 Thread Iain Lane
Hello errors.ubuntu.com, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gedit into disco-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/3.32.0-3 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-disco to verification-done-disco. If it does not fix
the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag
to verification-failed-disco. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1825340] [NEW] Wrong date on events

2019-04-18 Thread Valentin Crone
Public bug reported:

Hello,
On gnome-calendar (3.32.0), Ubuntu 19.04.

1 - Create or edit an event.
2 - Check the "Whole day" option. (French: "Toute la journée")
3 - Select the duration for 1 day or more.

The event will start and end 1 day before the selected begin and the
selected end, so you need to create your event one day in the future to
place it on the good date.

This bug happens both in local and network calendars. (Tested: Local and
Nextcloud).

[Bug 1761700] Re: On screen keyboard not always appearing with a touchscreen laptop

2019-04-18 Thread Betty Lin
@François Tissandier

The onscreen keyboard works fine on my XPS 13 with Bionic
(http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/403/builds/191459/downloads)
It works on Firefox, Chrome, terminal and gedit.
My touchscreen component is ELAN2930:00 04F3:2930, you can use xinput to check
yours.
