[Bug 1825783] [NEW] nautilus doesn't allow viewing of full copying details

2019-04-21 Thread shemgp
Public bug reported:

While copying ISOs over the network, I looked at which was finished, and
couldn't quite distinguish which file transfer is which due to shortened
names.

It would be nice if there was tooltip for each file transfer which may
display the whole file name. Or maybe the popover can be can be
expanded?

[Bug 1716857] Re: gdm3, hybrid nvidia with modeset=1, no external monitors detected

2019-04-21 Thread Tim Richardson
Still present in 19.04, although as a workaround, the nvidia drivers
have reverted to installing without modeset=1, so external monitors
work, and Optimus users get dreadful tearing on their laptop's internal
screen.

With modeset=1 (which in my case was a setting preserved during the update to
19.04):
At the login prompt (using gdm3) external monitors are powered on and display a
background graphic.
During session start, they are lost.

External monitors work with lightdm or sddm3, both supported display managers
in Ubuntu, so this remains the workaround.
So odd that Fedora doesn't care about this. It's a dreadful welcome to Linux
moment. Using gdm3 as the default display manager seems insane given this bug.

[Bug 1825756] Re: Window snapping to corners via mouse

2019-04-21 Thread Mike L
** Description changed:

Curretly, this feature simply does not exist, unless you count the buggy
keyboard implementation. Please add the feature to snap windows to the
bottom left and right and upper left and right corners via the mouse
alone. Currently, if you manually install compiz settings, you can map
the keyboard out to do this. Windows 10 and Ubuntu MATE and possibly
other distros/desktop environments allow this snap behavior. Why not
  Ubuntu with GNOME?

I did at #14 again, set verification-done-bionic for this fix, as requested.
Again it disappears.
I now tested the fix 3 times (once for cosmic and twice for bionic).
This time I did the same test as at #8.
Whatever you do it was the last time I test this bug.

[Bug 412738] Re: Can't record a second sound clip

2019-04-21 Thread Meg Ford
Hi, gnome-media has been deprecated for years now. Someone just pointed
me to this bug this really should be closed since the current sound
recorder is a completely new codebase and has nothing to do with the
code from 2009. If the users here are experiencing a problem with the
current sound recorder, it might be either this bug:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=790682 or this one:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-sound-recorder/issues/44

If so please try updating to the latest version of sound-recorder and see if
that fixes your issue.
If you still experience this bug after updating please open a bug report in
GNOME Gitlab and include the information about what version of Ubuntu and what
version of the sound recorder you are running.

[Bug 1825720] [NEW] No option to 'star' file in 19.04

2019-04-21 Thread MathUHenry
Public bug reported:

New feature in 19.04 is not working on my system.
As I understand, I should be able to right-click a file/folder and select star.
That option is not available though 'Starred' is now a location in places. This
option is missing under both Wayland and X.

If upgrading the existing system to 19.04 does not fix the issue, I
don't think that 19.04 could be marked as "unaffected". We need to find
that configuration and make if fixable within usual upgrade process, not
just by reinstalling OS every time praying for different bugs to just
disappear:)

[Bug 1825710] [NEW] Remove Application is ready notification

2019-04-21 Thread Jatan
Public bug reported:

The "Application is ready" notification is pointless, really. Say, I
click on the open downloads folder button in Firefox and GNOME Shell
gives me a notification saying "Application is ready" but doesn't open
the notification. I'm totally expecting an app to open because I
actively initiated it.

As a workaround, I'm using a GNOME extensions "Focus my Window" which
removes the "Application is ready" message and focuses the app window
automatically. However, this cannot be treated as a solution.

[Bug 1825450] Re: gnome-panel crashed with SIGABRT when accessing the preferences of the Weather Report applet

2019-04-21 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello KyL416, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-applets into disco-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
applets/3.30.0-3build1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-disco to verification-done-disco. If it does not fix
the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag
to verification-failed-disco. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1825708] [NEW] Please Include Package Names

2019-04-21 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Public bug reported:

Gnome-Software does not include a software package's name in the details
section of each software it catalogs and I want this to be added for the
following reasons.

1) When submitting bug reports and feature requests, it is necessary to
know the package name. When I use gnome-software to install a piece of
software, I expect to be able to go back to gnome-software to discover
software's package name. Since it doesn't include this pertinent detail,
I'm having to use a number of command to discover it.

2) Although I use gnome-software to discover available software, I
always like to collect that software's package name, so I can add to my
"sudo apt install" list, so that when I set up my computer from scratch,
I can use one command to reinstall all the software packages I've
installed previously.

These are my two reason, but I'm sure others have more. The bottom line
is, the package name is a very pertinent piece of information that
gnome-software should include in the details section of each software it
catalogs. Look at what is in the details section right now. Hardly any
of those details are anything I'll ever be interested in, but the
package name is VERY pertinent to me.

Please add this.

Gnome-Software does not include a software package's name in the details

+ section of each software it catalogs and I want this to be added for the
  following reasons.

  1) When submitting bug reports and feature requests, it is necessary to

+ know the package name. When I use gnome-software to install a piece of
software, I expect to be able to go back to gnome-software to discover

+ software's package name. Since it doesn't include this pertinent detail,
+ I'm having to use a number of command to discover it.

  2) Although I use gnome-software to discover available software, I
- always like to add its package name to my "sudo apt install" list, so
- that when I set up my computer from scratch, I can use one command to
- reinstall all the software packages I had previously.
+ always like to collect that software's package name, so I can add to my

These are my two reason, but I'm sure others have more. The bottom line
is, the package name is a very pertinent piece of information that
gnome-software should include in the details section of each software it
catalogs. Look at what is in the details section right now. Hardly any
of those details are anything I'll ever be interested in, but the
package name is VERY pertinent to me.

  Please add this.

[Bug 1825559] Re: Upgrading 18.10 to 19.04: cannot leave overview mode, computer needs to be restarted

2019-04-21 Thread Chris Davis
It looks like I had some gnome shell extensions that were causing
problems. I was able to get things to work by following the
instructions here to disabling them:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/591757/how-to-activate-deactivate-a
-gnome-shell-extension-from-command-line.

[Bug 1825450] Re: gnome-panel crashed with SIGABRT when accessing the preferences of the Weather Report applet

2019-04-21 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
** Description changed:

- gnome-panel crashes whenever I try to open the preferences of the
- Weather Report applet.
+ [Impact]
+ gnome-panel crashes when one tries to open the preferences of the Weather
Report applet.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1. Install gnome-panel and gnome-applets.
+ 2. Run gnome-panel.
+ 3. Open the “Add to Panel” dialog (Alt + right-click → Add to Panel…), select
“Weather Report”.
+ 4. Right-click the added applet, click “Preferences”.
+ 5. gnome-panel should not crash, instead the preferences menu should be
opened.
+
+ [Proposed Fix]
+ libgweather 3.31.91 introduced an ABI break without SONAME bump, the values
of some enums have changed. See
. As the current
gnome-applets in Disco was built against libgweather 3.28, it thinks that a
location level is GWEATHER_LOCATION_DETACHED, while it actually is
GWEATHER_LOCATION_NAMED_TIMEZONE.
+
+ The proposed fix is a simple rebuild against new libgweather to pick up
+ new enum values.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ As the fix is a simple rebuild, I cannot imagine any regressions this could
cause.

[Bug 1825559] Re: Upgrading 18.10 to 19.04: cannot leave overview mode, computer needs to be restarted

2019-04-21 Thread Chris Davis
Same problem here. Also I can launch a terminal via keyboard shortcuts,
but the focus doesn't seem to get set for the terminal window and
nothing I type shows up in there.

My 19.04 install is not useable until this bug gets resolved.

[Bug 1754702] Re: Delay before you can type after switching input source

2019-04-21 Thread Alejandro
I have one more update. I could not use ubuntu 18.04 with this bug, so
since then, I have been working on ubuntu 16.04 with unity. Yesterday I
tried ubuntu 19.04 on a live usb and after configure to my usual
setting, the bug was not present. I proceeded to install in on my
computer, and I found the bug again. I tried the same procedure and I
got the same results. Therefore, I am guessing it could be some
configuration file somewhere. After backing up my files, I did a clean
install and now the bug is nowhere to be found. I could not determine
what it was, but I am thinking it was something in the transition to
gnome was not compatible. I am using 19.04 with no problem now, working
perfectly and very surprised at how much the desktop has evolved in over
a year. Beautiful and fast! kudos to everyone involved. I originally
filed this bug, so I am not sure if it can be marked as not in disco
dingo. Thanks
