[Bug 1808710] Re: !xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost error with GTK2 applications

2019-04-24 Thread Alex Fedorov
Unfortunately, setting LIBGL_DRI3_DISABLE to true did not help to bypass
the bug.

On the other hand, the bug does not manifest itself if there is only one
active CPU core. The number of active CPU cores can be controlled by
'maxcpus' kernel parameter: add 'maxcpus=1' to
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub, then run update-grub as
root.

[Bug 1773959] Re: High CPU usage by gnome-shell when only running gnome-terminal

2019-04-24 Thread Satya
I see same behaviour. recvmsg() with EAGAIN failures (lot!!). CPU
utilization is not very high for me. Like around 3% but constant usage.
I could see difference in battery life. Switched back to unity for now.

I see the status as "Fix released". Which ubuntu version has the fix?

Or is it possible to get the fix for 18.04 too (via gnome-shell
update?)?

[Bug 1825447] Re: 19.04 packaging is from master (or wrong commit) and not ubuntu branch (breaks scroll events)

2019-04-24 Thread Treviño
** Description changed:

+ [ Impact ]

+
+ [ Test case ]
+ - Run an indicator that supports scroll events (i.e. radiotray-ng or run
+
https://github.com/ubuntu/gnome-shell-extension-appindicator/blob/master/indicator-test-tool/testTool.js
 with gjs
+ - Scroll events should be delivered
+
+ [ Regression potential ]
+
+ Scroll events over other shell actors aren't working (i.e. changing volume
with scroll)
+
+
+ ---
+
It appears the code used in the 19.04 packaging of the appindicator is
from master and not the tagged ubuntu-19.04 commit from the ubuntu
branch. The master branch is not delivering scroll events, which stops
my application (radiotray-ng) from being able to adjust its volume
  levels.

I've swapped out the code under /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions
/ubuntu-appindicat...@ubuntu.com/ with the ubuntu branch and scrolling
on an indicator icon works again.

I've filed an issue on github as well.

I actually succeeded in getting this dump again. From the gnome settings
up in the right corner, choose Test print. The printout went to the
printer options and made a test print from the button in the left corner
of the windows. That crash appeared in /var/crash despite it looks like
everything works..This time I also got another crash at the same
time:

[Bug 1734095] Re: Software & Updates not showing authorization popup [gnome-shell[N]: pushModal: invocation of begin_modal failed]

It doesn't seem to be to do with user settings as I have tried making a new
user and it fails for that user also.
I can also confirm that it is ok on Wayland, which is not surprising.

The lock also occurs when using claws-mail. I pressed [Delete] in a
message list, and the lock caused that keypress to be repeated, deleting
about a dozen messages that I then needed to retrieve from the trash.

[Bug 1826219] Re: Input locks frequently/high CPU usage after 18.10->19.04 upgrade

2019-04-24 Thread Paul Natsuo Kishimoto
** Description changed:

  I recently upgraded from 18.10 to 19.04.

What I expected to happen: same performance as before.

  What happens instead:
  - I experience frequent locks of input lasting from 0.5–5 seconds, during
which:
- - The mouse cannot be moved or clicked.
- - Any pressed key is repeated for the duration of the lock.
+   - The mouse cannot be moved or clicked.
+   - Any pressed key is repeated for the duration of the lock.

Various events seem to trigger the locks:
  - Typing this bug report in Google Chrome (locks for 0.5 s every ~20–30 s).
  - Changing tabs in Google Chrome (locks for 0.5 s).
  - Changing tabs in the Atom editor (locks for 1–5 s).
- (I will test without other applications running after filing this bug and
comment with more events.)
-
+ - Typing in gedit with no other applications running (locks for ~0.5s).

  Accompanying symptoms:
  - CPU usage for gnome-shell is high:
- - Always around 20%
- - Appears to spike to 100% for longer locks (from eyeballing htop open in
gnome-terminal)
+   - Always around 20%

[Bug 1826219] [NEW] Input locks frequently/high CPU usage after 18.10->19.04 upgrade

2019-04-24 Thread Paul Natsuo Kishimoto
Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded from 18.10 to 19.04.

What I expected to happen: same performance as before.

What happens instead:
- I experience frequent locks of input lasting from 0.5–5 seconds, during which:
  - The mouse cannot be moved or clicked.
  - Any pressed key is repeated for the duration of the lock.

- Typing in gedit with no other applications running (locks for ~0.5s).

Accompanying symptoms:
- CPU usage for gnome-shell is high:
  - Always around 20%
  - Appears to spike to 100% for longer locks (from eyeballing htop open in
gnome-terminal)

- The following appear in 'journalctl -f':

Apr 24 15:57:30 khaeru-laptop org.gnome.Shell.desktop[31679]: Key repeat
discarded, Wayland compositor doesn't seem to be processing events fast enough!
Apr 24 15:57:30 khaeru-laptop org.gnome.Shell.desktop[31679]: Window manager
warning: last_user_time (169670562) is greater than comparison timestamp
(169670067). This most likely represents a buggy client sending inaccurate
timestamps in messages such as _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW. Trying to work around...
Apr 24 15:57:30 khaeru-laptop org.gnome.Shell.desktop[31679]: Window manager
warning: 0x181 appears to be one of the offending windows with a timestamp
of 169670562. Working around...
Apr 24 15:57:30 khaeru-laptop org.gnome.Shell.desktop[31679]: Window manager
warning: W1369 appears to be one of the offending windows with a timestamp of
1798201456. Working around...

- The following also appear:

Apr 24 15:59:59 khaeru-laptop org.gnome.Shell.desktop[31679]: libinput error:
client bug: timer event20 debounce: offset negative (-313ms)
Apr 24 15:59:59 khaeru-laptop org.gnome.Shell.desktop[31679]: libinput error:

[Bug 1778322] Re: gvfs-smb-browse can't browse samba/smb tree

2019-04-24 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Check your smb.conf, maybe you have some overriding setting in there.
The default disco install I tested had no config file.

With gvfsd running in debug mode, there is also a specific message you
can look for which will tell you if your gvfsd was rebuilt with the
right samba version: "Forcing NT1 protocol version"

I followed steps 1 and 2 last time I checked this:

[Bug 1826210] Re: monitor not refreshing

2019-04-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

It looks like SOLVED my issue.

I found a crash report in /var/crash which is created by upgrade

Once I delete this crash report from /var/crash, error dialog and
related syslog output that I reported no longer occur. I'm not very sure
that my case was the same as originally reported issue.

[Bug 1825623] Re: [AppIndicatorSupport-FATAL] unable to update overlay icon

2019-04-24 Thread Kenshi Kamiya
Hi,
Error dialog box that I posted was popped up almost at same time when the
following syslog was generated.

gnome-shell[15196]: [AppIndicatorSupport-FATAL] unable to update overlay icon

Now I found that error dialog box is related to "Update-notifier".
Dock icon of Update-notifier is shown when Error dialog popped up (see attached
screen shot).
When I clicked on "Report Problem" button, Dock icon of Update-notifier
disappeared and no further information on this issue was shown.

[Bug 1734095] Re: Software & Updates not showing authorization popup [gnome-shell[N]: pushModal: invocation of begin_modal failed]

2019-04-24 Thread Colin Law
For myself, I have not got any other applications open, and I have not got any
Gnome shell extensions enabled (according to Gnome Tweaks).
There must be something significant about the fact that it only fails from the
Other Software tab, it works from the Ubuntu S/W, Updates and Developer Options
tabs.
There must be something unusual about the failing systems though, but what it
is remains a mystery.

[Bug 1826159] Re: gsd-print-notifications assert failure: free(): invalid pointer

2019-04-24 Thread Jan Wester
For the moment I do not seem to be able to reproduce this. So I guess it
happened when I tried to send the report bug thing in the popup since
that popup came because of another crash: _usr_lib_x86_64-linux-
gnu_cups-pk-helper-mechanism.125.crash. But since that failed I edited
the crashdb conf file. So it CAN be that this doesnt happen anymore. But
very uncertain

That other crash seems to happen every time pressing adding printers

[Bug 1826182] [NEW] [DisplayLink][fixed upstream] GNOME libmutter crash on hotplugging a dock with a monitor

2019-04-24 Thread Ppaalanen
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 19.04

DisplayLink properietary driver installed.

Log in to GNOME desktop in Wayland mode. Hotplug a DisplayLink USB dock
with one monitor connected.

What happens: The desktop session shuts down and throws me back into the
login screen, where Wayland sessions are no longer available.

What I would expect: the new monitor is taken into use and the desktop
session continues normally.

Installed: libmutter-4-0 3.32.0+git20190410-1ubuntu1

This issue is already fixed upstream:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/merge_requests/521

The fix has been released as part of mutter 3.32.1.

I would hope the mutter package would be updated to the new upstream
point release.

[Bug 1826137] Re: tracker-extract[3767]: segfault

2019-04-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1825590] [NEW] "software & updates" freezes after selecting "canonical partners¨

2019-04-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

On a fresh install of 19.04, in "Software & Updates" when I select
"Canonical Partners" the window "Authentication Required" pops up. After
typing the password the mouse freezes, and can be unfrozen with
CTRL+ALT+DEL. But the "Canonical Partners" cannot be selected, check box
stays empty, mouse freezes again. Even after cold restart.

WORKAROUND
Select "Canonical Partners Sources" instead. After authorizing I can now also
select "Canonical Partners". This was impossible before.

After this I can select and deselect Canonical Partner in "Software & Updates".
The previous authorization window, which opened first, and when the mouse
froze, stays open and cannot be closed with CANCEL or ALT+F4.

2019-04-24 Thread Silvio Bierman
Since the bug seemed to have appeared in both environments at the same
time I was not expecting two separate bugs. I have opened a new one
against Gnome session: bug 1826176.

[Bug 1826176] [NEW] Applications started from the dash often do not receive focus

2019-04-24 Thread Silvio Bierman
Public bug reported:

On a fresh install of Ubuntu 19.04 applications that are started from the dash
inside a Wayland session often do not receive focus.
The behavior is inconsistent. Some applications (like the terminal) always
properly get the focus. Some like GEdit en Chromium mostly do not receive focus
until suddenly they do. It seems to depend on other applications that are
already open and may have the focus but I could not discover the exact pattern.

Once clicked or Alt-tabbed into the applications work as expected. But
when you simply start typing after opening, for example, GEdit the
keystrokes may go to an application window that has just been obscured
buy the newly opened one.

This bug is similar to bug 1817924 but that one apparently is limited to
X sessions.

then please open a new bug by running:

   ubuntu-bug gnome-shell

I can now confirm it works in an X session though. So that part is fixed
(although I never observed the bug there since I don't normally use X
sessions).

[Bug 1817924] Re: (In Xorg sessions only) apps launched from gnome shell do not get input focus

2019-04-24 Thread Silvio Bierman
This bug also occurs in Wayland on a fresh Disco install. Opening
Nautilus, Chromium, GEdit etc. does not properly set the focus to the
newly opened windows.

I have the mutter version that should contain the fix:

root@mizuno:~# apt show mutter
Package: mutter
Version: 3.32.0+git20190410-1ubuntu1

so the fix does not seem to work on Wayland.
