[Bug 1832138] Re: Login screen never appears on vmwgfx but installing kernel >= v4.17-rc1 (or using WaylandEnable=false) fixes it

2019-06-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks Pat.

That seems to confirm the 'regression-update' tag here. Although I
wouldn't be able to debug and fix the mutter change because I can't
reproduce the bug, using VMware. Mine just works :/

It sounds like good progress is being made in the kernel anyway. So I
think a fix there would be preferable. Otherwise I would just be hunting
for a way to cripple mutter to work around apparent VMware driver bugs.

[Bug 1832138] Re: Login screen never appears on vmwgfx but installing kernel >= v4.17-rc1 (or using WaylandEnable=false) fixes it

2019-06-18 Thread Pat
Daniel,
I didn't want to lose sight of your ask in comment #34.
I updated to the latest mainstream kernel, and then reverted the mutter
packages (as per comment #31).
That also fixes the problem.

Specifically, this configuration is working for me;

uname -a

Linux ubuntuvm1 4.15.0-52-generic #56-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jun 4 22:49:08 UTC
2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

sudo dpkg --list | grep mutter

ii gir1.2-mutter-2:amd64
3.28.3+git20190124-0ubuntu18.04.2amd64GObject introspection
data for Mutter
ii libmutter-2-0:amd64
3.28.3+git20190124-0ubuntu18.04.2amd64window manager
library from the Mutter window manager
ii mutter
3.28.3+git20190124-0ubuntu18.04.2amd64lightweight GTK+
window manager
ii mutter-common
3.28.3+git20190124-0ubuntu18.04.2all shared files for the
Mutter window manager

And display resizing also works as expected.

It's working if I apply the whole chain of commit on top of Ubuntu-4.15

I'll need to talk with kernel team and see if this is feasible for an

[Bug 1832947] Re: Icons keep selected forever until explicitly deselected

2019-06-18 Thread Carlos Pita
Hi Sebastien:

* Ubuntu 19.04
* Session: ubuntu desktop (quite pure, the dock in the screenshot has just been
made to shrink but it's still the builtin one).

Nevertheless, as far as I can remember, this consistently happened every time I
used the desktop icons extension in the past, both in Fedora and Arch, it
doesn't seem to be an Ubuntu specific issue. But, still, Ubuntu is now the
developer of the extension.

Sorry, I realized the screenshot might be misleading: the "carlos" icon
(the one selected) is the one matching "Home" in Nautilus, the "home"
icon is just a folder with that name that happens to be un my Desktop

Build the kernel and I got the same problem still. Need to investigate
why it works fine using upstream when that good commit but still get the
situation with Ubuntu kernel + the same good commit.

I'll do more testing.

Hope this helps.

[Bug 1833197] [NEW] crashes when creating annotations (Segmentation fault (core dumped))

2019-06-18 Thread Fernando
Public bug reported:

After creating several annotations in a PDF document evince ends up
crashing with an inespecific segfault terminal output. It happens
always, but it takes a long time, so it's hard to reproduce, and it
doesn't always happens in the same place, despite I've tried to hit the
bug reopening and inserting an annotation in the same place.

** Affects: evince (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 1833192] [NEW] VMware: post custom script isn't run correctly

2019-06-18 Thread Xiaofeng Wang
Public bug reported:

In DataSouceOVF.py, it could launch the user defined script before the
customization and after the customization. In current design, the post
customization script is added as the rc.local service and launched after
the VM reboot. But actually the cloud-init doesn't need to reboot the
VM, so the post customization script is not launched as we expected. We
need to leverage the cc_scripts_per_instance module and let it to
trigger the post customization script.
