[Bug 1786344] Re: Default IBus input method ignored in live session

2019-07-04 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
So not only are there daily builds of stable releases, they are taking
packages in -proposed into account. I had no idea of either. Thanks for
letting me know.

Great, thanks for confirming. (But please note that the released 18.04.3
ISO will not include packages in -proposed.)

Yeah, the existence of the "cn" keyboard layout has been questioned by
others too:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xkeyboard-config/xkeyboard-
config/issues/75

Replacing "cn" with "en" makes sense to me.

> Or assign ibus-libpinyin as the input method for "汉语" and remove the

No, that will probably not happen. Even if there is only one zh_CN input
method available in the live session, the "Intelligent Pinyin" method
needs to be labeled as that to distinguish it from other methods
available in the Ubuntu archive.

But none of these fine-tuning things will be backported to 18.04 anyway.
If you want that kind of adjustments be considered for 19.10 or 20.04,
please file a new bug report.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a
duplicate of bug 1723399, so it is being marked as such. Please look at
the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you

[Bug 1835224] Re: gnome-terminal drops pam_group config

2019-07-04 Thread Egmont Koblinger
> Starting a gnome-terminal from this terminal

Even executing "gnome-terminal" from an xterm goes through dbus/systemd.
"gnome-terminal" is just a controlling client that asks systemd to start
up a server which then displays the window and does all the rest.

Don't ask why the architecture is like this, I don't know. But gnome-
terminal definitely doesn't do anything with groups, nor asks
dbus/systemd/whatever to tamper with the groups.

The issue is probably in systemd, starting up gnome-terminal (and
presumably any other app that it starts up) with the wrong groups.

The problem is still here and for instance it prevents LibreOffice Draw
to check PDFs signatures. I think marking this as "wishlist" is terribly
wrong, it is a major bug as there is no workaround to import
certificates in LibreOffice.

Launchpad bug reports using the version of gnome-shell from disco-
proposed was performed and bug 1835420 was found. Please investigate
this bug report to ensure that a regression will not be created by this

[Bug 1835224] Re: gnome-terminal drops pam_group config

2019-07-04 Thread Philipp Takacs
I can start an other terminal (i.e. xterm) there are the groups correct.
Starting a gnome-terminal from this terminal causes wrong groups in
gnome-terminal. So either gnome-terminal sets the groups or uses a
dbus/systemd/whatever funktion to set the groups. I would call both
scenarios a bug in the gnome-terminal.

2019-07-04 Thread Roger James
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1826604 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1826604

Hi Daniel,

Sorry about the incomplete bug report. I had forgotten that I had turned
apport. I have now found a fix for the first part of my report. This has
reduced the noise level so that I can see the next part is definitely
not the same bug.

For the fist bug the relevant line from syslog is

Jul 3 21:25:06 dragon gnome-shell[8816]: JS ERROR: TypeError: fileItem
is null#012_updateDesktopIfChanged@/usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions

icons@csoriano/desktopManager.js:339:17#012_monitorDesktopFolder/<@/usr/share
/gnome-shell/extensions/desktop-icons@csoriano/desktopManager.js:299:89

This means that this bug is a duplicate of #1826604.

The other bug seems to be related to gdm-x-session so I raise it over
there. (After I have fixed apport!)

Roger
