2019-08-07 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The fix for this bug is in mutter version 3.33.4, which will eventually
reach Ubuntu version 19.10, and then maybe others after that.

Nothing has been rejected.

[Bug 1839380] Re: Nautilus freezes when restoring hidden or normal file

2019-08-07 Thread Paul White
The bug isn't to do with just restoring files as that works perfectly.
The bug is restoring files back to where it was deleted from and a copy
of the file already exists. I think the bug description needs to reflect
that so I'm going to change it again.

I can reproduce this and the file doesn't have to be hidden.

I copied a file to ~/Downloads and then moved it to the Rubbish Bin. I
re-copied the file to ~/Downloads and then attempted to restore the
first copy back to ~/Downloads. nautilus froze immediately and a couple
of minutes later is still unusable.

2019-08-07 Thread Chris Graham
Thanks for bringing up the Discourse site. I actually have a lot more I
want to talk about that is general and this seems to be the perfect
place.

I really want to contribute there but I don't seem to have posting
permission on the Discourse. Username chrisgraham.

There's no post topic button for me under Desktop. I can get one if I do
the 'infinite scrolling' all the way to the bottom, but I think when it
gives me one there it's a permissions bug because it will give me an
access error when I actually follow through and post.

[Bug 1839136] Re: Temporary freeze / delay with some dialog windows

2019-08-07 Thread Logix
** Description changed:

Some dialog popups take a while to open, as if the system froze for a
bit (even though journalctl -f doesn't show anything related) which is
  extremely annoying. Example:

  - the dialog shown if a file should be saved when trying to close a tab in
Gedit
  - the popup confirmation dialog when using Shift + Delete in Nautilus
  - the dialog shown when trying to close a terminal that has a running process

This does not happen every time, but I'm not sure what triggers it.

I made a video showcasing the issue: https://streamable.com/xqjlf The
first time I try to close a Gedit unsaved tab this issue happens, but
the second time it does not happen.

What I tried and did not solve this issue:
  - using modal or detached dialogs
  - disabling all Gnome Shell extensions (including those that ship with Ubuntu
by default, by removing the packages)

This seems related to using multiple monitors. I have two monitors, one
- using 2560x1080 resolution, and the other 19220x1080 (both with the
+ using 2560x1080 resolution, and the other 1920x1080 (both with the
default 100% scalx). When I mirrored the displays, this issue no longer
happened. It only happens with extended (using the "Join Displays"
  option) display.

To replicate, just click (focus) on other windows multiple times (on
both monitors), then go to the window that causes these issues and it
  should happen, like I explained.

If I am mean to check whether this is a duplicate or not I cannot do so.

If apport is comfortable to strip this bug of its Private tag, why can
it not do the same for the one being referenced?

anything sensitive in there anyway.

looks related by attributed package and nothing more. I know I am not

[Bug 1827790] Re: Dell XPS 13 9380 - Screen brightness flashes

2019-08-07 Thread Thomas SIMON
Thanks & sorry for belated response. I've never manually installed a new
kernel (and am not sure how to proceed about checking integrity, etc.).
Is there any resource you'd advice to get info on the topic? Thanks in
advance. For now I can confirm that since I added this to the kernel
options, I have had 0 occurrences of the bug over the last 3 weeks.
