[Bug 1856374] [NEW] Selecting System Monitor window and then pressing ctrl+print screen causes freeze.

2019-12-13 Thread Clinton H
Public bug reported:

1) Ubuntu 19.10
2) 3.32.1-2
3) Ubuntu Desktop Guide, Tips & tricks, Screenshots and screencasts. Press
"ctrl + print screen" to take a screen shot of a window.
4) I selected the System Monitor window and pressed that key combo. Ubuntu
froze. I restarted Ubuntu. My fans were spun up, so I opened System Monitor to
see what was causing high cpu usage. Python had 50% cpu usage.

Hi, I am new to ubuntu and linux. I was wondering if this has been fixed or not?
I have latest version of 18.04 yet I am not able to search for full text.
I see here it has been fixed in a package for 18.04.4 which is yet to be
released, is that correct way of reading this? Thanks for any help.

[Bug 1856360] [NEW] gnome-settings bluetooth connection slider requires multiple clicks prior to enabling

2019-12-13 Thread John Kwiatkoski
Public bug reported:

When connecting a paired, or unpaired bluetooth device to my laptop, the
toggle button for enabling a connection for a device, appears to reset
after being clicked as though refusing to connect. After clicking about
4-6 times it will eventually connect. However this user experience seems
rather unpolished and confusing. For clarity, the device eventually
pairs, however it appears to need 4-7 tries of clicking the connection
slider.

This bug is not always reproducible and sometimes the device connects
immediately. I would say however about ~75% of the time the issue occurs
for me.

I am on a thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th gen.

I have attached a 30s screencast to show the issue occurring.

I submitted though the ubuntu-bug cli so i believe the pertinent debug
info will be appended. I can provide more if need be.

[Bug 1855469] Re: gnome-shell lags on wayland

2019-12-13 Thread domak
Hi,
I was able to reproduce the problem with Xorg.
It seems to be a problem with the 5.3 kernel:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1185491/ubuntu-19-10-freezes-and-lags-reguarly?_ga=2.54982253.715083533.1576259634-605647910.1573162641

I'm going to see if I'm able to install a 5.4 kernel (I'm not very
confident on that).

[Bug 1856251] Re: Going from apps overview screen to fullscreen'd app causes flash

2019-12-13 Thread Heather Ellsworth
On my workstation, this happens with fullscreen'd firefox too. Any
fullscreen'd app. So it's not limited to the terminal application.
However, this does not appear to happen on my thinkpad running 19.10. So
I think you're right, it is likely nvidia-specific.

[Bug 1706474] Re: gdm3 nvidia modeset=1 is broken, external screens don't work on a Thinkpad p50

2019-12-13 Thread David Coronel
I just found out about this. I wanted to get rid of the screen tearing
that I observed on my Nitro AN515-53 laptop running Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS
with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile GPU.

I used https://askubuntu.com/a/020 and set nvidia_drm modeset=1 but
then my external monitors didn't work after the reboot. So I switched
from gdm3 to lightdm and that does the trick for me.

[Bug 1856317] [NEW] [SRU] 3.34.2

2019-12-13 Thread Iain Lane
Public bug reported:

[ Description ]

Update to 3.34.2, which is going to be required by gnome-shell.

==
Version 3.34.2
==

- Add helper to create transient systemd scopes
- Translation updates

[ QA ]

This is uploaded under the GNOME MRE:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/GNOME

This is solely to add new API. Test that the desktop continues to work.
Maybe try the thumbnailer in Nautilus, and the background panel in
Settings.

[ Regression potential ]

Not as a result of this SRU itself, *but* when gnome-shell / gnome-
settings-daemon are uploaded then *they* could regress if this update is
buggy. They should probably be released all together.

[Bug 1856289] [NEW] TimedLogin feature not working in Ubuntu 18.04

2019-12-13 Thread RĂ¼diger Kupper
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 18.04.3, gdm3's TimedLogin feature is not working.

Steps to reproduce:

In /etc/gdm3/custom.conf, uncomment these lines

TimedLoginEnable = true
TimedLogin = user1
TimedLoginDelay = 10

and change "user1" to an exiting user name. Reboot. Observe that nothing
happens at all.

Syslog has the following errors:
