Set to priority Low since you need to be using both the Nvidia
proprietary driver and automatic logins to hit this bug.

[Bug 1859113] [NEW] No support for Zstandard

2020-01-09 Thread Leonardo Müller
Public bug reported:

As stated on https://facebook.github.io/zstd/

"Zstandard is a real-time compression algorithm, providing high
compression ratios. It offers a very wide range of compression / speed
trade-off, while being backed by a very fast decoder".

Other Linux distributions even started to use the Zstandard in the place
of xz compression for their packages due to how fast the decompression
is, even if there is a small penalty on ratio. On my own testing, I
noticed 17% faster compression and 88% faster decompression compared to
xz while there was a 3% differences on compression ratio for system
images.

With this bug report, I ask to add support for Zstandard on at least
file-roller. Currently, I have to use the command line tool zstd to work
with files compressed using Zstandard. On Thunar, *.zst files appear as
unknown and file-roller says there is no support for this file type.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04

[Bug 1853199] Re: Ctrl + c (copy) anywhere some times crashes gnome session

2020-01-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It seems the robots either can't or haven't yet got to providing
analysis of those crash reports...

In the meantime, immediately after each crash happens please run:

  journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

and attach 'journal.txt' here.

If you have to reboot after each crash before you can run that command
then please use this instead:

  journalctl -b-1 > prevjournal.txt

[Bug 1841646] Re: White text on white background for HTML e-mail

2020-01-09 Thread Christopher Howard
Ubuntu Budgie users (like me) can't use that fix as apt is saying it
will remove ubuntu-budgie-desktop. That will make a big mess.

I find it disconcerting that this was reported over 4 months ago, was
confirmed to be a real bug over 2 months ago, and there has been zero
response in terms of a fix. Surely this won't take but a few minutes of
someone's time to fix.

[Bug 1841646] Re: White text on white background for HTML e-mail

2020-01-09 Thread dave marsdin
The short term fix can be to downgrade the two required libraries.

sudo apt install libjavascriptcoregtk-4.0-18=2.20.1-1
libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37=2.20.1-1

Evolution works again and I have blocked updating of those two for now.

[Bug 1848086] Re: Keyboard shortcuts to launch apps sometimes launch twice in Wayland sessions

2020-01-09 Thread Krister
When changing desktops with the command, for example,
this problem manifests itself by sending an extra to whichever window is
in the foreground. If a terminal is in the foreground, the characters
"^[[1;7A" will be written.

[Bug 1852183]

2020-01-09 Thread Eike Rathke
Note that a selection's content is not stored in the clipboard (unless
LibreOffice is exited) but upon pasting the target asks for the
available formats and picks the best offered, that in this case should
be the internal Calc format, which then would be transferred from source
to target, but somehow here instead it gets a bitmap/image from the
clipboard "manager" (apparently).

(In reply to Marcus Tomlinson from comment #1)

So what would that "doing something strange" be?

Reportedly, if the Clipboard Indicator GNOME Shell Extension was
installed, removing that cured the symptom.

[Bug 1852183] Re: [X11] copy/paste (clipboard) is broken in Ubuntu 19.10

2020-01-09 Thread Willem Pieterson
Can also confirm being affected by this bug. Strangely it randomly
happens in LibreOffice for me, but constantly in WPS Office. When I copy
something it either pasts nothing (suggesting nothing was copied) or
pasts as a bitmap. Sometimes this bitmap shows all content that was
copied, sometimes a random bit. When it pasts a bitmap, re-copying
everything and then pasting does always work.
