[Bug 1753070] Re: Cannot restore default alert sound (Ubuntu bell)
Hello @Sebastein, I installed day before yesterday's nightly build, of Ubuntu Focal Fossa (development branch). The issue which @Lucas Czepaniki (lucas.czpnk) mentioned at comment number 6 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1753070/comments/6), still is there in that build. The issue is, Whichever the notification sound we choose after default, only that sound will take effect. Directly changing to another type of alert sound will not take effect. To reproduce the problem, 1. Open terminal, 2. Open sound settings, initially it will be "default". Change that to some other alert sound, say, "Drip". 3. Switch to terminal and press backspace, you will hear "Drip". 4. Switch to sound settings, this time select "Glass". 5. Switch to terminal and press backspace, here is the issue. You will not hear "Glass". You will still hear "Drip". 6. Switch to sound settings, now select default first and then select "Glass". 7. Switch to terminal and press backspace, now you will hear "Glass". So to summarize, if you want to change the alert sound, first you have to switch back to "Default" and then only whichever other alert sound you select, will take effect. Since the release time is near, I thought it would be helpful to fix this before release. Thank you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1753070 Title: Cannot restore default alert sound (Ubuntu bell) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1753070/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1870725] Re: artifacts appearing on gnome shell
I believed I narrowed down the issue to how gnome-shell uses Xorg. As said before GDM did not have any issues, and (i may be seriously wrong here) GDM uses Wayland by default. When I launch the Ubuntu desktop with Wayland, the graphical issue went away and is running smoothly. So I narrowed down the issue to Xorg or gnome-shell. So I went ahead and installed Cinnamon DE which uses Xorg, and the issue did not arise. My theory is that gnome-shell has a problem with rendering the shell (not programs) with Xorg. [Bug 1870815] [NEW] My child was able to crash gdm
Public bug reported: I let my 1-year-old child play with the login screen for ~5 minutes. After hitting all kinds of keys (the sequence seemed to be very complicated) we ended up with a black screen with mouse cursor only slowly responding to mouse movement and lagging behind. I couldn't do anything else but reset the PC. First this seems to be funny, but then you realize how embarrassing it is. It absolutely should not be possible to crash the login screen just like that. How is that even possible? The login screen should just either accept a password or reject it no matter what keys are being pressed. [Bug 1870758] [NEW] Screen scaling 150% results in monitor power save state
Public bug reported: Working on fully updated focal fossy Procedure to make bug happen: 1. open gnome control center and select screen (skærme in danish) 2. click the "fractional scaling" switch 3. select 150% scaling and click the green button at top right 4. Result is a blank screen and the monitor going into a power save state A reboot doesn't help. The login screen appears, when I log in the screen goes blank again and the monitor power save kicks in. If I select the "unity" environment, the display does work. If I do this on the command line "gsettings set org.gnome.mutter experimental-features ['']", I can log in as usual and fractional scaling has been turned off. [Bug 1870736] [NEW] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Procedure used: 1. Fully updated system via apt update && apt upgrade 2. Select the screen setup in gnome control center 3. Click the "Fractional scaling" toggle 4. Select 125% and click the green "use" button top right (it says "Anvend" in dansih) 5. Observe that the window has grown a lot, click the "use new settings" button 6. The window tells me, I am at 200% scaling. The "200%" option is now highlighted. 7. Switch back to 100% and file this bug.
