[Bug 1870628] Re: Authentication required window after startup

2020-04-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. Could you make a screenshot of the prompt
and add your 'journalctl -b 0' log to the bug after getting the issue.

If you use autologin it's expected that your keyring isn't automatically
unlocked since you didn't enter your password, the question is to know
why that's happening at login. Note that you can set an empty password
to the keyring which lowers the security but would avoid the prompting

[Bug 1870829] Re: AptX and AptX HD unavailable as Bluetooth audio quality options

2020-04-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I'm not sure AptX would appear in the GUI or it would be hidden behind
the high fidelity option. So even if the feature was supported already
we wouldn't know.

This needs more investigating. Please report the issue to the related

[Bug 1870771] Re: Gnome shell crashes when screen is locked

2020-04-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
If the crash is due to a faulty extension then please report it to the
extension author. But in case it's not...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1870815] Re: My child was able to crash gdm

2020-04-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt

[Bug 1870184] Re: Snap store not showing ubuntu repository apt apps inthe store

2020-04-05 Thread Doug McMahon
Don't see it as hit or miss, the version on the Ubuntu beta image only shows
snaps.
On an older install it has snap-store 20200401.4cde4f1 which shows both snaps
and .deb's

Refreshing the beta image install's snap-store from latest/stable:
20191114.a9948d5 to latest/beta: 20200403.d6b9c02 then allows the
snap-store to show both snaps and .deb's.

[Bug 1866974] Re: The Diffie-Hellman prime sent by the server is not acceptable

2020-04-05 Thread Neil Green
I've recently begun using `evolution-ews` from the Ubuntu 19.10
repository and it's been working brilliantly. I've now attempted to do
the same on a fresh Ubuntu 20.04 beta install and can no longer use the
plugin to fetch my emails, as I get a TLS/SSL error.

I'm using it on an NHS email account with the server URL as

but when I add my email account I get an error message

```
SSL/TLS certificate for "mail.nhs.net" is not trusted.  Do you wish to accept
it?
```

The certificate is for *.nhs.net so should be valid, I also get a
reported error "Error perfroming TLS handshake. The Diffie-Hellman
prime sent by the server is not acceptable (not long enough)

If I try to `Accept Permanently` the pop up box continues to reappear.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

When I connect an external monitor (HDMI), and arrange it above the laptop
monitor (same resolution), and click "Show Applications" button in lower left,
the "Frequent" and "All" buttons are near the top of the laptop screen instead
of at the bottom, and the matrix of applications is blanked out (the bottom 2/3

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

When I click the "Show Applications" button in the lower left, it brings up a
matrix of application icons, which takes a page and a half. There should be
two dots on the right to match the two pages, but instead there are * dots.
Moving up and down, the first and second dots highlight to show which page I am
on. But only the top dot, and the bottom two, can be clicked on to change the
page.

[Bug 1870991] [NEW] Update gnome-software to 3.36.0 for Focal

2020-04-05 Thread AsciiWolf
Public bug reported:

The gnome-software package was replaced by a Snap Store snap, however it
would be still good to update it to 3.36.0 (or 3.36.1 when it is
released) for Ubuntu 20.04 to allow users with custom configuration or
flavours (i believe that, for example, Ubuntu MATE uses the deb version
of gnome-software) to have the latest stable gnome-software version.

[Bug 1870958] [NEW] Volume keys does not always produce a sound

2020-04-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I press a keyboard sound volume key to increase or decrease the
volume, I normally hear a beep.

On Ubuntu 18.04, I had a sound for every increase/decrease of the
volume. On Ubuntu 20.04 Development Release, sometimes there is no beep,
especially when you press these keys multiple times with a period less
than one second.

This new behavior is annoying because the beep adds value to indicate to
the user how loud/quiet is the current volume setting.

I think the bug is independent of the Sound them. I tested with Yaru and
Ubuntu sound theme.

[Bug 1870975] [NEW] No audio devices appear except "Dummy Output" when I close my laptop lid while audio is playing and then open it back up.

2020-04-05 Thread Seija Kijin
Public bug reported:

When I closed my laptop lid while sound was playing in Audacity and then
opened the lid back up, the device woke up from sleep. However, my
headphones were plugged in at the time, and Ubuntu acted as if the audio
resumed.

However, I was not hearing audio. So I went to the Audio section of
Settings and found there was only one sound device: Dummy Device,
instead of seeing the speakers built into the laptop and the headphones.

[Bug 1870956] [NEW] Desktop Icons Remain Highlighted when Mouse Cursor Leaves Them via Taskbar

2020-04-05 Thread Ubfan
Public bug reported:

Default Gnome desktop, the taskbar touches the desktop icon highlight
square. If the mouse cursor over the icon leaves the icon by moving over
the taskbar, the icon remains highlighted. The highlight remains when
another icon is highlighted or a window activated. Multiple icons may
be left in the highlighted state. The highlight is turned off by moving
the mouse over the icon and then off the icon onto the desktop.

[Bug 1870922] Re: GUI Scaling does not work with multiple monitors

2020-04-05 Thread Sebastian Heiden
I don't think this issue is similar to the aforementioned issue. I was using
the scaling factor 2, but other scaling factors different than 2 don't work
either, except 1.
And no, I do not have the experimental fractional scaling enabled, but it
didn't work either.

I have attached the journalctl log from a freshly booted session, in
which I have triggered the issue by setting the scaling factor to 2 in
the settings menu, which causes the screens to go blank and return to
the previous settings after a couple seconds.

To find the place at which it happens just search for `NVIDIA(0):
Setting mode "NULL"` in the log

[Bug 1866070] Re: extension not compatible with gnome-shell 3.36 (Focal Fossa)

2020-04-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The package comes from Debian, it would be nice to request it to be updated
there
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?repeatmerged=no&src=gnome-shell-extension-dash-to-panel

the gnome-shell-extension-prefs question is another topic, please don't
sidetrack this report
see https://packages.qa.debian.org/g/gnome-shell/news/20200321T230011Z.html for
the details

' * Split gnome-shell-extension-prefs out into its own binary package.
It's not useful and arguably misleading to show this to everybody by
default, since it is only a tool for enabling/disabling extensions you
have already installed - and we don't provide any out of the box.
Perhaps it'd be useful for individual extensions to cause this to be
 installed via Recommends.'

[Bug 1870922] [NEW] GUI Scaling does not work with multiple monitors

2020-04-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When changing the GUI scaling factor on a multiple monitor setup the
monitors all just go blank and then revert to the previous values.

Changing the scaling factor manually in the config file does not work
either, it causes all monitors to go blank as well.

I observed that it is trying to set a mode "null", here is the line from the
Xorg log:
`NVIDIA(0): Setting mode "NULL"`

I have initially noticed this after upgrading from Ubuntu 19.10 to 20.04
and my screens would all be just blank after the system has booted up. I
had to delete the monitor configuration files manually via SSH to get a
screen output in xorg again.

[Bug 1771880] Re: Seahorse unable to import pkcs12 certificates

2020-04-05 Thread Oliver
The keys I was trying to import into Seahorse were located in an
encrypted container (mounted, obviously). As I cannot influence (or
haven't learned how to influence) the standard file modes when mounting
said container, they all had 0700 as file mode, including the .pub files
I had generated based on that AskUbuntu answer.

Once I copied them over to ~/.ssh they popped up immediately in
Seahorse. So it's definitely not the file format that is/was the issue
here.

Either it's the file mode, a certain expectation of what it ought to be
or it's the fact that the keys I was trying to import weren't in ~/.ssh;
or something else altogether?! ...

[Bug 1771880] Re: Seahorse unable to import pkcs12 certificates

2020-04-05 Thread Oliver
Fascinating, I am seeing this exact same issue with SSH keys. When using
ssh-add these keys will load into the agent without a problem, but I
cannot import them into Seahorse. The files have been generated with
OpenSSH, but their file names aren't following the standard id_
and id_.pub pattern ...

I also followed the advice from that AskUbuntu answer to generate
accompanying .pub files, but that didn't work either.

Seahorse also outright refused to import the id_ed25519, whereas the
id_rsa worked previously. This seems at least inconsistent.

Package versions:

gnome-keyring 3.28.0.2-1ubuntu1.18.04.1
seahorse 3.20.0-5

[Bug 938751] Re: Images are washed out or colors are skewed in some apps

2020-04-05 Thread Theo
Suddenly affected by this on Ubuntu 16.04. It just showed up yesterday
without changing anything. I have the issue when converting CR2 files to
jpeg through Shotwell.

Removing the ICC_PROFILE does not work for me.
