@Daniel bug exists in default 20.04 which uses Gnome. Then I installed Kubuntu Desktop through Synaptic package manager. Started using Kubuntu through login session option, replacing GDM with SSDM. [Bug 1875528] [NEW] Extra frozen / stuck mouse cursor after auto screen lock / sleep
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Expected: After my computer had gone to sleep and I log in I should see only a single active mouse cursor. What happened instead: After my computer had gone to sleep and I logged in I noticed a second frozen/stuck mouse cursor was on screen and was rendered in one place over any active application windows. [Bug 1875488] Re: Entire system freezes when Chrome freezes when I try to quit the app by clicking on the X button, resulting in an unresponsive machine.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875488 Title: Entire system freezes when Chrome freezes when I try to quit the app by clicking on the X button, resulting in an unresponsive machine. Re: [Bug 1852183]
But you are not a consumer, and this is free (libre) open-source software, not something you bought. It is something you participate in. "Won't fix" doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't going to participate in or assist a solution, it means that the ultimate responsibility lies with the upstream maintainer of the package. In your analogy, toyota would pass the info (and offer support to) the company that makes the defective part. Either that company comes through or they end up needimg to select a different part (or package) from a different company. It is a process that requires patience and good faith coordination. There are good reasons for this. Not just to avoid duplication of effort, but also to avoid unnecessarily creating confusion, fragmentation, new problems or even messing up the upstream efforts to solve the issue. So from a fellow FLOSS end user (who unfortunately has few skills to offer except bug reporting), I feel that your attitude is far more interesting to examen. [Bug 1875445] Re: Volume slider doesn't produce sound
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected focal ** Description changed: Hello, In Ubuntu 20.04: After system boot there is sound and when I adjust volume with the slide (top right corner of the screen) it produces default sound. About 10 minutes (may be related to loading of certain s/w) later during the same session the slider stops producing sound when I adjust volume. System sound is still present. You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hello, In Ubuntu 20.04: After system boot there is sound and when I adjust volume with the slide (top right corner of the screen) it produces default sound. About 10 minutes (may be related to loading of certain s/w) later during the same session the slider stops producing sound when I adjust volume. System sound is still present. I also noticed that in Settings->Sound two more entries appear in "Volume levels": 1. Speech-dispatcher-dummy; 2. Speech-dispatcher-espeak-ng. These two entries are not present there right after system boot when everything works fine. I also see these errors in Logs: "sof-audio-pci :00:1f.3: error: no reply expected, received 0x0". [Bug 1875125] Re: moving files from desktop to a nautilus window does nothing
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1813441 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1813441 @Sebastien, thank you for pointing out the bug was a duplicate. I've posted my workaround in the linked bug since the workaround I found is better than the current workaround. Additionally, I really don't have the words to describe my disbelief that this regression actually made it into an LTS release. Its been a known issue for longer than a year before the release; and a problem in 19.04, 19.10, and now 20.04 LTS. Most desktop users will immediately feel the pain of being unable to drag and drop, delete files or other inconveniences which will add up cumulatively every time they want to do something up until they find a solution, or decide its not worth it and go with another distro. Following the commonly indexed posts on google they'll immediately get stuck when gsettings for disabling desktop icons fails since launchpad isn't indexed. I like some of the changes in 20.04 but properly working desktop icons has been a required productivity expectation in any OS that's been around since the 90s regardless of what some people think. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875125 Title: moving files from desktop to a nautilus window does nothing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1875125/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1813441] Re: Can no longer drag and drop files between desktop and applications
I didn't realize my bug was a duplicate (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875125). This is a big issue for desktop users, I almost rolled back immediately. I'll still be rolling back due to other bugs I've found since Friday, but in the meantime I did find a slightly better way of working around the issue for 20.04 which I had posted in my bug post. I'll repost it here: In /usr/share/gnome-shell/modes/ there is a json file ubuntu.json. It has a list of enabled extensions one of which is the desktop-icons extension. It looks like this: { "parentMode": "user", "stylesheetName": "Yaru/gnome-shell.css", "themeResourceName": "theme/Yaru/gnome-shell-theme.gresource", "debugFlags": ["backtrace-crashes-all"], "enabledExtensions": ["ubuntu-d...@ubuntu.com", "ubuntu-appindicat...@ubuntu.com", "desktop-icons@csoriano"] } Editing ubuntu.json and removing the entry and extra comma for desktop- icons, disables the extension from a single point. After that working around the issue using nemo provides desktop icons, delete hotkeys, and drag/drop functionality that was previously non-functional. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1813441 Title: Can no longer drag and drop files between desktop and applications To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons/+bug/1813441/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
