[Bug 1891771] [NEW] gdm3 crashes after upgrade from bionic to focal but lightdm and sddm work fine
Public bug reported: Hi all, after upgrading from bionic to focal I switched from lightdm to gdm3 to use Gnome Desktop. Gdm3 crashes systematically when enabled as default display-manager with a blank display with the following message: Oh no! Something has gone wrong. A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. Please contact a system administrator. In /etc/gdm3/custom.conf I've tried the following settings: WaylandEnable=false -> crash WaylandEnable=true-> crash I've enabled Debug but I cannot find any correlation with the error message. Gdm version 3.34.1-1ubuntu1. Switching to another display manager like lightdm or sddm solves the problem. I've a Dell Inspiron with Intel U620 graphic card. The problems happens with the laptop display alone but also with external monitor connected via HDMI. Thanks in advance for your help. [Bug 1891767] [NEW] Nautilus not showing video thumbnails
Public bug reported: Using Ubuntu 20.10 (Groovy) Daily Live, GNOME session (gnome-session) on Wayland. Nautilus is no longer showing thumbnails (generated by Totem) for some video files, although the Totem thumbnail generator (totem- video-thumbnailer) is working. Nautilus is showing thumbnails for video files with (Ogg) Theora codec content (even if wrapped in a non-Ogg file format, such as mkv), but not for others, although I have installed all the required/usual libraries (libav*, gstreamer1*). Deleting the thumbnail fail cache (~/.cache/thumbnails/fail/) does not help. Installing ffmpegthumbnailer does not help either. This seems to be a regression, or maybe some libraries for video files in non-free codec formats have not been updated properly. We tested the most recent version of the patch in proposed for Focal at this time, and the issue still occurs there. [Bug 1891761] [NEW] Add a way to change the application_id of a toplevel wayland GdkSurface (so LibreOffice can reuse toplevels and get the right task icons in Wayland)
Public bug reported: This is already committed upstream in GTK 3.24.22: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/commit/2b74662b2befebb988b63118c8d7ee8c9d90e736 LibreOffice in a Wayland session uses the same generic icon for its different apps, so when I have Writer, Calc and Impress open, they all share the same generic LO icon, which is not a very good experience. The upstream GTK commit should fix that, however, I have not tested it. The reason why I'm using Wayland in Ubuntu 20.04 is that I have a second 4K UHD monitor and fractional scaling + 4K UHD resolution is unusable in X11, so I'm kind of forced to use Wayland for fractional scaling. See bug #1890802. So I hope this fix could be committed in Ubuntu 20.04 to improve the LibreOffice experience in Wayland. [Bug 1878392] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa desktop launchers not working
I think issue is with dash to panel, I checked with dash to dock and it didnt happen: When we click the launcher icon the menu background that displays the apps dont vanish when you reclick the launcher button to hide it. Maybe due to that the things become unresponsive. It just shows a 'X' mark on top left in my case. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878392 Title: Ubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa desktop launchers not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons/+bug/1878392/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
