[Bug 1872527] Re: Clipboard doesn't work 100% of the time in Ubuntu 20.04 (in KVM guests)

2020-11-09 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Interesting thanks Jakub, 0.38 is in groovy and later
 spice-gtk | 0.37-2fakesync1 | focal/universe | source
 spice-gtk | 0.38-2ubuntu1 | groovy/universe | source
 spice-gtk | 0.38-2ubuntu1 | hirsute/universe | source

But being a protocol change [1] I'm unsure we can SRU this to Focal easily.
I wonder that you say only the host needs to change as the discussion on [2]
says you'll need the new protocol on the guest as well.

I'm glad we have it fixed going forward, but as I said I'm rather unsure
about SRUing this change without a much deeper evaluation.

[Bug 1903460] Re: Audio keeps coming from HDMI even after switching output to internal or Bluetooth

2020-11-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Sounds like a similar, but opposite, issue to bug 1895665. If the
problem happens again then please try editing /etc/pulse/default.pa and
comment out all of this:

  ### Should be after module-*-restore but before module-*-detect
  load-module module-switch-on-port-available

  ### Use hot-plugged devices like Bluetooth or USB automatically (LP: #1702794)
  .ifexists module-switch-on-connect.so
  load-module module-switch-on-connect
  .endif

Then reboot.

[Bug 1903460] Re: Audio keeps coming from HDMI even after switching output to internal or Bluetooth

2020-11-09 Thread FelipeAF
I removed ~/.config/pulse just now, and seems fixed, but i have to test
a few more to be sure. But it was happening mostly when plug hdmi, so
device output was changed to hdmi, and i couldn't just change back to
internal. Then i try to select hdmi 5.1 or 7.1 profile, and as in video
attached, this do hdmi stop work.

After removing ~/.config/pulse i don't see hdmi profiles anymore (what is ok,
since i don't have real 5.1 devices), and change audio output is working now.
If something wrong happens again i will comment here.

Thank you for your attention!!

Hi!
I fixed before your post with the command "dconf reset -f /org/gnome/".
I guess the gnome extension "Sound Input & Output Device Chooser" may have done
something wrong, but i'm not sure, and just disable or uninstall didn't solve
the problem, what solved was the command "dconf reset -f /org/gnome/".

Thanks for reporting the bug.

I don't think this has anything to do with rhythmbox. This is probably
an issue with 'nouveau' driver while reading a video file, which you've
accidentally added to rhythmbox.

That would be my guess.

[Bug 1903292] Re: GNOME Wayland session hangs after suspend

2020-11-09 Thread Tom Cook
I've done the full-upgrade and disabled the non-Ubuntu extensions and
then re-triggered the crash with `echo mem > /sys/power/state`. This
now causes a hard hang of the whole system - its no longer accessible
over the network when it tries to wake up. There is no new log in
/var/crash and the last thing in kern.log is it going to sleep. This
doesn't seem promising.

The kernel is a custom-built 5.9.0 built from Linus' repository - I'm
not expecting a lot of support with that.

[Bug 1896334] Please test proposed package

2020-11-09 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Marco, or anyone else affected,

Accepted yaru-theme into focal-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/yaru-
theme/20.04.10.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See

While the gnome-shell reverse dependency shell extensions regression
mitigation discussion is still in progress, I think we can unblock the
yaru-theme portion as it's unrelated to this. I have been told this
update is safe to go in without the gnome-shell part, and is needed for
some future fixes.

[Bug 1903542] [NEW] Ubuntu 20.10 2-in-1 regression (auto-rotate and on-screen keyboard disabled)

2020-11-09 Thread audunmb
Public bug reported:

I have a 2-in-1 laptop (HP Spectre Folio)
With 20.04 my screen autorotated and I got a on-screen-keyboard. No it doesn't.
So my laptop is no longer a 2-in-1 with Ubuntu. That's a serious regression.

As far as I can tell this is a Gnome bug:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/3255
with a solution, but it needs to be resolved in Ubuntu 20.10.

[Bug 1903449] Re: accountsservice displays "Libvirt Qemu"

2020-11-09 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
The issue is not present in Ubuntu 20.04 or later. The question is if
dropping the patch retroactively as a bionic stable release update
should be done. I discussed this with Sebastien Bacher in the ubuntu-
desktop team, and we concluded that we are not able to tell that no
bionic user depends on the patch, so we won't drop it for bionic.

In case of libvirt-qemu you provided a nice workaround, which may be
useful for other users who encounter the issue.

[Bug 1903329] Re: SRU the current 2.48.9 stable update

2020-11-09 Thread Salim B
** Description changed:

  * Impact

That's the current GNOME stable update, which fixes a number of issues,
including a regression[1] since librsvg 2.40.x which was shipped in
Ubuntu 16.04. The NEWS file[2] summarizes the relevant changes between
Ubuntu 20.04's current librsvg 2.48.7 (that version was also introduced
by an SRU back in July[3]) and the current version 2.48.9. The complete
list of changes is available on GNOME GitLab[4].

  * Test case

The update is part of GNOME stable updates[5].

Smoke testing by opening SVG images with eog or importing them with gimp
can be performed to ensure there are no regressions.

  * Regression potential

This is a bugfix-only stable micro-release, however librsvg is a core
component with a number of reverse dependencies. A combination of
autopkgtests and manual smoke testing to try and detect SVG rendering
  issues should be performed.

  * Notes about this report

This is my first SRU request (and at the same time my first launchpad
bug report). I'm not really familiar with the whole SRU process which is
why I first asked about it on Ubuntu's official discourse forum[6].
Canonical's Sebastien Bacher encouraged me to open this ticket. I've
copied over some parts of the last librsvg SRU ticket[3]. I hope this is
  fine.

  Thanks for considering this SRU.

[Bug 1903292] Re: GNOME Wayland session hangs after suspend

2020-11-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. It seems that crash can't be traced because:

"You have some obsolete package versions installed. Please upgrade the
following packages and check if the problem still occurs: libsystemd0,
libudev1, zlib1g"

So please:

  sudo apt update
  sudo apt full-upgrade
  rm /var/crash/*

then reboot and follow the steps in comment #1 again.

Also, you seem to have a few non-Ubuntu extensions installed:

'openweather-extens...@jenslody.de',
'dash-to-d...@micxgx.gmail.com',
'sound-output-device-choo...@kgshank.net',
'putwin...@clemens.lab21.org'

so please also uninstall/disable those via the Extensions app and then
retest.

I'm not absolutely certain this is related but the timestamp on it is

[Bug 1903292] Re: GNOME Wayland session hangs after suspend

2020-11-09 Thread Tom Cook
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected third-party-packages

** Description changed:

I'm running 20.04 LTS on an HP Envy x360 Ryzen 7 3700U with Radeon Vega
Mobile. The gdm3 package is at version 3.36.3-0ubuntu0.20.04.2.

  When I trigger a suspend with `echo mem > /sys/power/state` the system
appears to go into mem suspend correctly. Hitting a key should bring
the display back with the lock screen displayed, but instead briefly
brings a slightly scrambled screen to life and then the screen goes
  black and stays that way.

- The system is still up as I can SSH into it. Killing the gdm-wayland-
- session process then brings me back to the GDM login screen and I can
- start a new session.
+ The system is still up as I can SSH into it. Killing the gdm-wayland-session
process then brings me back to the GDM login screen and I can start a new
session.
