2021-01-16 Thread Joshua Peisach
** Description changed:

It was found in cinnamon-screensaver that pressing ē can crash the

This is a regression of solving CVE-2020-25712 (https://cve.mitre.org
  /cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2020-25712) in xserver

The following versions of Cinnamon are affected:
  4.4 - Focal
  4.6 - Groovy
  4.8 - Hirsute (unstable)

Upstream caribou doesn't seem very maintained anymore. Hopefully patch
will be put upstream so Hirsute can be solved. After that I will SRU
  Focal and Groovy.

TL;DR: Caribou segfaults on pressing ē which can cause a screensaver

[Bug 1912055] [NEW] FF screensharing works under Plasma but not Gnome

2021-01-16 Thread monochromec
Public bug reported:

Firefox is 84.0.2
xdg-desktop-portal is 1.8.0-1 (same as xdg-desktop-portal-gtk)
gnome-shell is 3.38.1-1ubuntu1.1
plasma-desktop is 5.19.5-0ubuntu1

(all packages per latest Groovy versions)

Another hint: Running FF offers me a selection of app windows when
starting to share the screen (for example in a Jitsi session), doing the
same under Gnome only allows me to share my entire screen.

Happy to provide more info, just let me know.

That happens to me if the search field is not focused when you start
typing, which it seems to not be initially by default. If I first click
the search field, also the first letter can be typed using a dead key.

Can you maybe report it as a separate issue, preferably upstream:

After inspection:

/var/log/syslog keep on growing, so I'm going to reboot.
