[Bug 1857392] Re: Window manager warning: Overwriting existing binding of keysym 37 with keysym 37 (keycode 10).

2021-03-10 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Furthermore, since many users will only see these messages coming from
gnome-shell:

Window manager warning: Overwriting existing binding...

(I know it's the most common message because I read all the bug reports
and peoples' logs) then it's natural we will associate that message with
anything that's gone wrong. But it doesn't mean that message is related
to what has gone wrong.

If your system is frozen and doesn't recover then this is most
definitely the wrong bug for you and you should open a new bug. If the
system just stutters a bit then I think comment #21 might explain that.

[Bug 1857392] Re: Window manager warning: Overwriting existing binding of keysym 37 with keysym 37 (keycode 10).

2021-03-10 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I should also note that if your system is logging anything to disk then
the kernel will stall that process (gnome-shell) within 5 seconds or so
to flush the journal. That's a reliability feature of ext3/ext4
filesystems but it does also hurt interactive apps if they write
anything to disk periodically.

More info and a workaround is here:

The journal was already attached to this bug. I will execute the steps

[Bug 1917674] Re: Freeze when resuming from automatic suspension to RAM

2021-03-10 Thread Douglas Silva
I'm attaching the requested logs.

Near the end of this file you'll see the last action I performed, which
was the CTRL+ALT+PRINT+REISUB combination to reboot. You'll also see
that there is a long crash log related to AMDGPU.

Oh, and this time when it crashed I attempted to switch TTY, and then
the screen changed to a display of trillions of tiny colorful artifacts,
like a TV with bad reception.

[Bug 1918463] [NEW] Text on system overlays is blank

2021-03-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Expected behaviour: I can read text on notifications and popups in
Ubuntu.

Observed Behaviour: Occassionaly, system overlays lose their ability to
show text.

This affects the notification drawer, the sound icon, any popups, and
the login screen.

It can be fixed by restarting Ubuntu.

Looks like this:
https://imgur.com/a/rvFuHHs

Description:Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
Release:20.04

I am unable to determine what package shows these overlays.

I am using the dark theme from Gnome extensions, but switching back to
light does not fix the issue.

[Bug 1886912] Re: DELL M3800 Touchscreen not working after login with fractional scaling.

2021-03-10 Thread altadeos
It seems to be not related only to M3800 laptop but others like HP Spectre too.
Regarding this topic I'm able to have a working touchscreen when I removed
fwupd.

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1234975/touchscreen-stops-working-a-few-
seconds-after-login-to-gnome-ubuntu-session-ubu

I removed fwupd with the command "sudo apt remove fwupd" and rebooted
the computer and now the touchscreen is working again.

Do you need more informations ?

[Bug 1886912] Re: DELL M3800 Touchscreen not working after login with fractional scaling.

2021-03-10 Thread altadeos
Hello,

Tried a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04.2 and problem is the same even I haven't
activated fractional scaling.
The touchscreen is working good on live iso.
It's also working good on GDM before a session is opened.

Hope you can fix this bug.

Best regards.

[Bug 1912472] Re: Display freezes randomly - high CPU usage

2021-03-10 Thread Tristan Boureau
Thanks for your kind help Daniel.
Six weeks ago, I migrated to Debian 10, default install with Gnome and Wayland.
Since then, I didn't encounter any problem working with the same programs.

This bug can be closed, as I won't be able to help finding what the
exact issue was.

[Bug 1918433] Re: Podcast download not working due 'Operation not supported'

2021-03-10 Thread crvi
This is due to gvfs bug:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/486

This is fixed in rhythmbox git ( move from gvfs to libsoup ). But the
changes are too huge to be patched in Ubuntu. So, you'll have to wait
for the next Rhythmbox release.

It's strange , 1 hour after the message that the bug was resolved, I
updated my system, but the package was not updated.

I updated again just a moment ago, and now everything is fine. Thank you

[Bug 1918422] [NEW] At startup cryptsetup passwords are sometimes forgotten

2021-03-10 Thread Patrik Nilsson
Public bug reported:

At startup of the Ubuntu system, encrypted disks are unlocked. The saved
passwords are forgotten in a very reproducible way. This happens if you
have three or more disks to be unlocked and mounted.

1) At first startup you enter the password and saves it for future use.
The disk is unlocked and mounted.

2) The second startup the disk is only unlocked, but not mounted.
Clicking on it in the file browser mounts it.

3) The third startup you need to enter the password again, starting over
again at step one.

The password is still in the keyring and every time you enter the
password a new entry is added.

Looking in "gnome-disks" it seems as while other disks are being
unlocked, a disk can't be mounted at the same time.

My unlock time it set for 60 seconds.

[Bug 1896167] Re: Heavy screen tearing in Wayland sessions on Raspberry Pi 4-B (using the FKMS driver)

2021-03-10 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Seems to depend on clock frequency, just like I see with Intel graphics.
If you spin the CPU at 100% like:

  while true; do true; done

then the clock frequencies increase and desktop frame rates become very
smooth. But that's also when the tearing starts.

[Bug 1896167] Re: Heavy screen tearing in Wayland sessions on Raspberry Pi 4-B (using the FKMS driver)

2021-03-10 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The tearing still happens in hirsute, but only when you can convince the
system to render at 60Hz. Most of the time it's stuttering (30Hz) and
not tearing.

[Bug 1918370] Re: 21.04 natural scrolling broken

2021-03-10 Thread Rob Hendricks
I think there is still an issue with the scrolling in fact. Trackpad on
laptop does not obey any changes on either mouse our touchpad settings
from Ubuntu... Seems only the logitech (K400+ for reference) using
Solaar v1.05 behaves as expected now since update...

[Bug 1918370] Re: 21.04 natural scrolling broken

2021-03-10 Thread Rob Hendricks
You guys have been super quick to reply,,, There's been an issue with
Logitech's Solaar 'Unifying' wireless adapter... the update certainly
did not want to come down easily on 21.04... Now at 1.05... still have
my other issue open which is a little more relevant that literally
cannot super/(or)/alt-tab to more than the first two open apps (on both
laptop keyboard && on wireless one)...

Have opened seperately I thought, but only see this bug... super alone
shows all apps cascaded as expected.

When we talk about "mutter" we really mean the "libmutter-7-0" package.
